What is certain is that it was written in 2001 by the Norwegian Rolf Løvland and actually as an instrumental version. It was then covered countless times by famous artists and acts and successfully entered the international charts several times. In Ireland, the track was even included in Ireland's HotPress magazine's list of the "10 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2007.
The best-known version certainly comes from Josh Groban.
I love the song because of its anthemic nature and because it now has personal meaning for so many people around the world.
