      so true, thank God we have people taking the technology in a way that is helping the Earth and not destroying it.... tech is a double edge sword that can be used for good and evil... just depends on how its programmed and used... which still relies on us and how we choose to use our actions.

      We use to use glass things for hundreds of years but clay for thousands why can't we just start using it again.

      @@moonshot9056 what do you mean theres a problem with clay its recyclable all it is very small dirt particals.
      But depending on how that wood farm is done it might just harm the earth.
      How they found out trees start there real co2 storing at 120 to 300 years if cut before that you will lose water and less co2 would have been stored.
      What do I mean by water I mean at 120 to 300 years there mostly using the water they stored rather then sucking it up as it grows for now its not going up but getting wider.

    BeBot should dump what it collects into visible bins to display to beach going people what is happening to their local beaches. This visible look at what people do to their beaches is an eye opening lesson for many.

    • @thefrub
      @thefrub 2 года назад +5

      Unfortunately it's not just litterbugs that are polluting the beaches. You throw plastic into a recycle bin, and until a few years ago your local waste management would ship that "recycle" plastic over to an asian country, who would promptly dump it into a river and out into the ocean.
      Some of that garbage could be something you tried to recycle. The whole system's broken.

      @@thefrub lmao the dumping it into rivers is false, most pollutants come from 3rd world countries who are forced to put their trash in rivers because they dont have the systems like we do with garbage trucks and what not. Also, you do realize that companies like Waste Management *sell* the recycling to said other countries? They wouldnt buy the recycling just to dump it.

    Just cheap toys. If sand compaction were an issue (it's not), one can buy a tracked tractor, which would be much faster and more efficient than these dumb novelties. If your tractor cleans "too deeply", you can just adjust the depth your machine cleans to. When not cleaning the beach, a conventional tractor has other uses, like mowing, site preparation, etc...

    what really needs to change is what governments do about the trash their citizens produce. 1. it needs to be collected (as sorted as possible, but collecting it at all is important), 2. it needs to be either recycled or burned, NO exports to unreliable countries and NO landfills (the percentage of german waste going to landfills is zero already), 3. we need to use more recycled plastic and less packaging material (no matter which kind since it makes no sense to use fe glass instead of plastic (glass is worse for climate than plastic)) overall. the two first pikts are way more important for the problem of ocean plastic though.

    Interesting solution. This could be used to clean sargassum which is a huge problem in the Carribbean beaches. However, the current method of a tractor pulling a raking system tends to crush the sargasm before the rake can collect it all. So it would be better for the raking system to be pushed instead of pulled, thereby picking up the sargasm before crushing it. If this system had a push method instead of a pull system you would find a lot of customers for this for sure!

    It would be awesome to also mobilize human resources such as school groups and environmentally interested groups to spend time cleaning up the garbage in cities, rivers and beaches. This increases awareness and gets people involved and active instead of just worrying and only stressing over it and talking about it. It is incredibly good for morale and mental health! And yes, I have spent a lot of time picking up trash in parks and on the side of the road.

    It is absolutely necessary to clean up our beaches. But this is a solution to the symptom and not the problem. I still think that the main emphasize should be on reducing the amount of plastic that is produced and consumed. In other words, the consumer is not the issue, it is the companies producing the plastic. Soda bottles, milk jugs, packaging etc. We need innovation in these areas. How do we allow people to enjoy a soda without the need for producing tons of plastic bottles? It still is a nice invention in cleaning up our beaches.
