I’m excited to see LX content back on the channel. Your first LX video put them on my radar, and I sold my ‘17 OR tacoma and got a clean 2011 a few months after. Almost two years later and we still love it, zero regrets. Threw some rock warriors and K02s on it and I get to pretend I’m overlanding as I haul the kids around 🤙🏼
Recently picked up a 2013 for about $24k, 180k miles… wife wanted the updated facelift. Been great so far. Also enjoy having one that’s not “mint”, so when the kids, dog, trash it or wife dings it up I won’t cry.
Traded my wife's newer Tahoe for a slightly older LX570 and it's hands-down a better vehicle and she loves it. If you can find one with around 100K on it, buy it with confidence.
You are not a card reviewer yet this was perhaps the best Land cruiser review video I’ve ever seen on RUclips. The part about emotions and how it makes you feel is the key to a 200 series. It’s the greatest vehicle ever built in any generation at any time in Cart manufacturing. Thanks again for posting. PS, the new land cruiser here in the USA will not be over built and have the same aura and legendary iconic status as a 200 series but every enthusiast knows this. Thanks again for the wonderful video.
Unpopular opinion I guess, while I love and respect all Land Cruisers, I find the 200 to be lethargic, heavy, numb and not that fun to drive. It does feel like a tank so I see why people have this opinion but greatest vehicle ever built in any generation at any time? lol. while very good, I'm not sure about that.
Love the 550. Sucks the V8 is gone but i own a V8 Lexus and I need the OT+ in the stable with it. They made the buying process very simple for those who want one based on the trims.
Great take. I’m also curious to hear how these compare: spending $70k on a $70k msrp GX550 (overland) vs spending $70k on a 2021 low mile LX570 with msrp of $100k. Same budget. Next gen GX vs lightly used previous gen LX.
The base Land Cruiser has my vote. I like the fabric seats and those headlights. Plus, those turbos love that elevation whereas naturally aspirated engines struggle.
Welcome back to the 200 series! I love my 80 for what it is but I think in a few years that folks are going to come around that the 200 series is likely the pinnacle Land Cruiser for the US market, I'll never give up the 200.
Been a Honda guy all my life, right now have a lease 22 MDX ASPEC which I will upgrade to the GX550 when the lease is up. I just check Lexus and there 0 APR so now the time to pre-order and lock yourself with no interest
New GX/LC is gonna look so much more modern than the LX/200 series but you are right, way more value in the older ones. This is true of other brands as well. I love our 09 Range Rover and 2001 F250 Diesel, both wonderfully reliable and don't see the point in spending huge bucks to upgrade just yet. You can nicely upgrade the important stuff like head unit/nav kind of stuff. You get to a certain point where paying so much more for the newer rigs doesn't necessarily mean you are getting that much more value or upgrades out of it. Just tech and styling. I do look forward to seeing the new LC's everywhere though and plan on buying a used one once the bugs are worked out.
I have in UK and have LC 200 with the 4.5 V8 twin turbo diesel motor. UK didn’t get the Lexus model on this platform so LC200 was well appointed in standard spec including having the AHC, in some ways best of both worlds.
Biggest difference between the new land cruiser and a GX 550 is the V6 turbo vs. four-cylinder turbo. I didn’t hear you touch on that part. but there was a lot of talk. I might’ve missed it. lol
gx550 overtrain versions have ekdss, where the swayer front and rear disconnect and reconnect instantly with linkages. Better than the lc250 front disconnecting swayer
Clearly, the cost savings is huge. But I’m curious if you would buy a brand new GX550 Overtrail for $75k, or an ultra low mileage 2020 or 2021 LX570 for similar money (probably a little less)?
IDK why I'm watching this, the prices of both of these are crazy LOL. Forgot how expensive the used LXs are which is why I went used GX. If we have a 3rd kid, it's minivan time.
I will be getting a GX 550 Overtrail plus and do it right up. I'll keep my 3rd Gen Tacoma TRD Off Road with kings and many other goodies too probably for hunting and shit kicking while I baby and build the Lexus for a couple of years.
What rear axle do these have? After listening to your video, these may be less expensive than a GX470 considering you won't need to purchase a lift/suspension or swap out the weak rear axle.
I’m gonna keep it as low as possible, but not really touch anything until it’s got bumpers at least. Then can evaluate how everything is sitting and adjust accordingly with spacers and bracket adjustment
I like the new gx550 but the 200 isn’t going anywhere. Neighbor picked up a one owner 2005 570 with a 130k miles from a Lexus dealer. They gave him a 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Just goes to show you the build quality of the 200/570
Now I’m going to have to ask, I thought he said 05 but it is a lx570. I was just surprised he got a better warranty vs his wife’s new 100k suv (only 3 year 36k).
80k for the GX550 Overtrail, 30-40k for a used LX 570. With 10k of upgrades youd have a far more capable overlanding/off roading vehicle, that's a 40k savings. Are you really going to save that much money on gas over time? I think probably not.
Mikes too young. They are a joy but not very useful besides looking cool and putting on down to the local hangout. Compared to newer rigs, extremely uncomfortable, unsafe, gutless, ineffecient, noisy, impractical but awesome all at the same time. Not a terrible place to put your money though, investing in old land cruisers can be better than money in other investments if you upkeep/restore them.
Ha it was the right move at the time. Also, allowed me a year to experience the first gen sequoia, which was rad. Plus this one was cheaper, with lower miles, and less rust than my last one!
I was trying to scratch the land cruiser itch. The wife wanted a TX but it was crazy expensive. We ended up with a GX 460 for 10k off MSRP and I love it. Being in a new car makes me want a new Tundra over my 15 lol.
