I cant check the balance of Suppliers wise, Bank wise and Cash wise separately. I mean how much we need to pay to Suppliers? How much any customer pay to us? How much is our bank balance? Like this things are missing at here. Plz can u do that in it.

Hi Randy, do you have a workbook out there that's all-in one? For example, it has the dynamic general ledger where you input your transaction. Then from the general ledger have a sheet that automatically pulls the info from the general ledger to make the profit/loss, balance sheet, trial balance and some informational dashboards?

Every registration in your model consists of only 2 lines: one line for debit account + amount and a second line for credit account + credit amount.
Unfortunately, this happens seldom in accounting.
For instance: SALES
The customer is debited for the full amount : 1.100
This amount, that the customer has to pay (sooner or later = expiry date) is composed of several items.
In the simplest form the amount is composed of 2 items, namely a value for the products or services sold + a value for the taxes
In this, simple, example, 2 lines are to be credited,
products/services sold (accounting type: income) = 1.000
taxes 10% on sales = 100

What excel are you using to have templates like that? My excel doesn't offer that..
I use Excel 2010, however any Excel from 2007 onward should work just fine.
Hi Randy. I'm experiencing something of an exercise in frustration with a conditional format not functioning as I would expect. I have been working through writing up my version of your General Journal (Pt1) application, but seem to have hit a brick wall with the formula for highlighting alternate rows. It would be great if I could send you a screen grab of my formula, and the error message I am receiving. The formula is essentially identical to the one in your General Journal application " =AND($D8"";MOD(ROW();2)=0) " plus selecting a range from D9 to J400. I am a recently new fan, recently retired and have more time to enjoy your youtube videos. Very fun and inspiring, not to mention challenging.
I am having an issue with your General Ledger Pt 2 from 4 years back. I really like the set-up and the way it works. But when using the compound entry for some reason I get a big mess on all the conditional formatting, probably linked to deleting rows.
I think the issue is the set up of the page from this video where you have the formatted range From C1 to L299. To be honest I don't know how you set that up and how I can fix it.
Could you point me in the direction if you updated the model for this or to any resource that shows' how you set up the theme.

Hi and thanks so much Martin. When it comes to conditional formatting, try not to delete rows. You can copy and paste values, which will not disturb the Conditional formatting, or you can use the Clear function, which clears all formatting, then you can copy and paste all from another location (maybe even a hidden section) from the same sheet. This will preserve the conditional formatting. The easier option is never to delete or use clear, just use 'clearcontents' which preserves all formatting and when using copy and past use pastespecial pastevalues

Thanks for the response. I did finally figure it out after I sat back and realized what was happening. I was trying to make it harder than it really was. Really enjoying the challenge of making this work. I am hoping to use this for a local farmers market accounting system process.
Also, I learned the hard way, that when we copy and pasting formats, that include conditional formatting, the conditional formatting keeps doubling up (it is not replaced) so when we want to copy and paste the formatting, if it includes conditional formatting, we must use the "Clear" function in order to clear ALL of the formats, including the conditional formats, in the destination range before pasting.

Hi Randy, I am having another issue which just does make sense to me but it is messing things up. When I started to use the program, under VBA explorer I would see Sheet1(General Journal). You use sheet1 in your references in vba code. For some reason when I close the workbook, and then reopen I get a reference to sheet1 with the vba code but i also get sheet11(general journal). Now the reference does not work. So ifixed the reference to sheet11 in the vba code and it worked again. But now I get a new reference sheet111(general journal). Any idea why this would happen?

I have been unable to figure out why the dotted line shows up in the cell interiors here. The solid blue line was the default border you set for all borders, but on the conditional formatting, there is no border changes for orange or green, and neither the white nor the blues change anything to dotted lines. I originally thought you had done an outline of the cell block in solid line and all interior cells in the block as dotted lines, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
How do I fix that issue in my follow-along?

It's driving me crazy, trying to figure out how to do automatically created alternating data validation lists throughout a column's range. Is it manually done, or a macro...? Lots of bugs in the excel macros keep appearing, too, when I do the follow-along in creating it from scratch. No idea why. :( I've enabled macros for my workbook, so it shouldn't be the reason.
