  • I picked this up for £20 from Facebook Marketplace. It's a Barcrest Bootylicious fruit/slot machine from 2009.
Does anyone out there have any experience on these things? I need some help!
    Cheers
    Steve

Apparently there's a reset routine for the MPU6 after you replace the CR2032, power it off, hold down up/down button and power on, select RAM test and it apparently resets, you then enter time and date.

Hi Steve, asked a mate who’s a fruit machine engineer…
Mpu 6 if you change the battery it requires ram clear you have to get it into ram clear and hold down button 1 and 4 I think it’s been years since I did one once that’s cleared normally ok and the yellow wire looks like the one that plugs into the board at top the right hand side one there keyed so it can only fit into one plug and to get into top up etc it will need a Dallas key but that’s the touch pad he pointed at the keys are blue / green or yellow they all do different things there’s also one of those touch keys on out side if machine the only main issue is if someone has changed Mpu there may be no take program in it then it’s scrap unless someone has the flash card with it in that’s why it’s £20 I’ve dumped loads of them unfortunately.

    1. Examine PSU. Check voltages and fuses.
    2. Disconnect EVERYTHING from the MPU EXCEPT Reels.
    3. Power the machine.
    4. Should initialise and seek reels.
Get it to do that and move forward from there by connecting a system at a time and switching on.
If fuses blow, downgrade the fuse until you find the issue to avoid further damage.

If you can track down what board(s) those errors point to, that would be a good place to start. Best case scenario, the errors all point to the same board OR one ribbon cable connects to separate boards that contain all the errors. Good luck! I love watching you figure this stuff out, because I sure wouldn't have the patience. You definitely are a diligent troubleshooter. If you spend enough time on it, you'll figure it out. I hope we can watch the journey with you!

I don't know anything about these machines in particular, but there are a couple things that stand out to me. There is an additional connector that appears to not be connected to anything. You can see it above the middle wheel at 0:45. Near the top of the frame at the same timestamp, you can see two wire management twists that are empty. Perhaps there is something missing that the dangling connector you mentioned is supposed to connect to that was removed.

  • @A_Basic_Guy

What i think that might help is to try:
    -reconnecting all the cables
-see if the cables even work by using a multimeter and seeing if it shorts
-above the you see those connectors maybe try disconnecting those and seeing if that works
-maybe searching for a missing board
-try and see if the cables lead to something important
and maybe check if there are any open ports where those loose cables fit in
I hope that maybe one of these idea's might get your further! But i'll still wish you the best of luck
i know that i made alot of typos but i'm lazy and don't feel like checking

Ok so on the bottom left hand side where the bottom door is on the back you will see the power supply which has several outputs of various voltages. There should be 4/6 led’s which should be lit green when the machine is powered on. If 1 or more of those led’s are red or not lit, you need to replace the power supply and the machine “should” function correctly. The power supply will possibly be around £20/30 and you can buy them from an arcade that runs these type of machines etc. The power supply should be pretty generic. I hope this info is of some help Steve. Good luck with this. Rory.

Hey Steve, you seem to have at least two loose connectors the second one is dangling in the breeze at 0:50. Its only briefly visible, the connector is white and has 4 sets of wires (white, black, red, yellow) it seems to origninate from the bottom of the MPU box. Shortly after in the shot of the board at 0:51 way on the right side there are just two pins visible on the board of what appears to be an empty header. The leftmost pin seems to be bent slightly to the right. Not sure if that is the header for the unplugged cable but it is surely a candidate to check. This looks like an intersting one, so congrats on your bargain purchase =)

That yellow connection is for the coin mech if its cctalk the note acceptor isn't initialising its held on by 2 nuts and hinges down take the power out I can't see whether it's a jcm or nv10 nv meaning note validator I am currently working for a gaming company all pc based now but I was the trainer at gamestec the first thing I would have looked at is a drill hole at the back of the cab right behind the mpu the thrives would've drilled through into the circuit board and shorted the hopper thus dumping it into the paybowl.

Hi I should add the test switch is located behind the reels I think on the hopper side just below the hopper once in test you can test coin mech lamps, reels, alpha, which is the led indicator on the play glass test switches etc, to toggle through the tests there should be a couple of buttons flashing you'll see on the alpha the various test you can perform just hit start to enter the test you want if there are any bulbs missing I can send you any colour they're mostly wedge bulbs, good luck with it I'll look forward to seeing your video's on it.

given it looks like the MPU is not connected to anything but the "barbus" does the white cable labeled as IO on the MPU, connect up to the white plug (yellow wires) coming down from above - otherwise how does the MPU communicate with anything else in the case?
Otherwise we likely would need images of the top and bottom board to be able to assist with googling.

    error 5236
These are caused by faults on the MPU6 and relate to the flash memory
sound like you need to reinstall the software, barcrest website for downloads closed a few years back so dont know where you would be able to pick one up from.
voltages are fine as the LEDs on the mpu are all lit, each LED is a supply voltage from psu.
as for the getting into test and doing hopper dump and hopper refill, that cabinet came with dongles that you pressed onto that dongle pad (they where called dallas keys), they use to live on the ends of the metal chains, one dangles next to the hopper, one is in the bottom for dump, they where either blue or green, there was a yellow one to get it into refill mode on the bottom front of the machine.

FIND AN ON/OFF SWITCH somewhere on the machine.... probably inside if it's a real machine that involves money....
    - have you looked for the repair manual, or user manual, or ANY type of written material??? - if you can't find online then you might have to contact the company manufacturers it and ask them how much for a repair/service manual... but that's IF they allow regular people to get it like here in the states where anything to do with gambling is tightly regulated and you need a license to obtain anything to do with those machines..... but the internet can help bypass that, if you can find it

Also this machine my not have the software this is done via the USB port what you will have to do is get the bootylicuos software from either Eservices, or maggimaggi or even barcrest but I think the may have folded they may not sell you the software but if your mpu is working send it to them and they'll install it with the correct game and FYI a private home machine never comes with a note validator so if you get the software done it will alarm because it's not looking for a note validator so you will need to disconnect this hope this helps I'll be interested to see your progress any more help just ask 👍

I think you have a connector unplugged. to have everything failed all like that is incredibly uncommon.

  • @laserhawk64
    @laserhawk64 Месяц назад

I'd probably start by trying to work out where that one dangly cable harness with the loose connector, what that's supposed to plug into. Well, actually, I'd start with the step _before_ that, strictly speaking -- trying to work out, based on what connects to what and how, what each board/module/gadget/etc does and why. You don't need anything more than a very rough sense of that -- eg "this is what drives the motors for the roller wheels with the fruit symbols" "this senses the position of each wheel" etc -- and _then_ I'd work out what that cable connects to, and reconnect it... if that didn't fix it, knowing that the MPU6 is probably the nerve center, the "brains of the operation", if you will, I'd try and work out why it's having a rather literal failure to communicate with the rest of the everything else that's there.
