I was deciding between the SM7B and the EV, I think this video helped me choose. The EV sounds so much better IMO, thanks for the help! All I'm missing is the beautiful British Accent.
What I did was pick the closest hertz setting of the ones that he adjusted and applied those to mine. If you click on the hertz numbers in the equalizer, you can fine tune the numbers to match his. That's what I did. So you should end up with 63Hz -(2) 125Hz-(4) 500Hz-(0) 1KHz-(0) 4KHz-(2) 8KHz -(4)
Hey mate the compressor advice was excellent, don't sound quiet now when I'm talking a bit lower thanks a lot! Plus the noise gate was better then the one I had set. Lastly don't regret getting the RE20 don't think much can beat it hey?
Mini sucks, if you want a good audio buy zoom podtrak p4, it gives 70Db if you need for SM7B or RE20, and buy vst from Neverdie audio called Speachy, which has more sound settings than goxlr mini

@@luk7n The Go XLR Mini has the exact SAME preamps as the full size GO XLR minus the De-Esser. I have the Go XLR Mini as well as an Electro-Voice RE20 and my audio quality sounds exactly like Jolly's. So in fact, the Mini does not suck sir.
Great video, nice content! No matter what settings I'm using on the go xlr as soon as I start talking I always have a metallic buzzing sound in the background. It's not very loud but it's definitely hearable - I have an EV RE320 + a TritonAudio FetHead (metallic buzzing is there with and without using the FetHead) - do you havw an idea why I have this issue?
This is the video I needed! I had a goxlr and re20 for three months. I wasn’t sure why my re20 kept picking up every small adjustment on the boom arm, or hit from my desk. I’m going to test this out tomorrow and see if I can get that to go away.
@@JollyLegend so unfotunately my mic is picking up any noise on the desk still. Including my keyboard, etc. Do you use a cloud lifter, or a shock mount?
Hey thank you for the video. I have the exact same setup, but my recordings are really quietly when I don't bring the Gain to 72dB PLUS the make-up gain to 24dB. What could be the problem?
Make sure that the mic volume is set to 100 in the goxlr software, as well as that make sure the mic is set to 100 in windows settings too. That amount of gain is ridiculously high
I might need some assistance here. No matter what I’ve done, I still get like a high buzz and humming sound when I speak. When I don’t speak I cannot hear anything, it’s only when I talk, I then notice the sound. I’m not sure if it’s my PC, and if it is, I may need a hand or if you have any ideas how to minimise this?
So if the noise is only there when you speak it sounds like the noise gate is doing it's job. If you turn off the noise gate, what happens? The noise should be there all the time then, if that is the issue then probably the microphone is picking up something making that noise in your room. If there isn't any actual noise in the room then maybe try replacing the XLR cable, and if that doesn't fix it then possibly your microphone is faulty.
@@THEMIGHTYCB i had the same issue of the humming/buzzing only when speaking. All I did to rectify that was go into the sound settings on your PC > Recording Tab > Right Click Microphone > Properties > Levels and lower the volume on that. Then test and adjust
@@GhostPlaysGames since my mic is coming through my goxlr only I’m not too sure how to do this. I’ll need to have a look then and experiment with the goxlr app or in the settings as you’ve said but adjust the sound for the goxlr then
Is extra hardware (GOXLR) much needed for a good sound quality? Cuz atm iam using the electro voice re20 too, but without any extra hardware, only with OBS settings. But no matter how i switch the settings there, its not sounding like other ppl using the mic on youtube. My question is here, am i too dumb to do the right settings in obs or is more behind that?
The RE20 IS a dynamic microphone. The ONLY reason to use the condenser setting would be if you are using a Fethead or Cloudlifter for the 48v phantom power.

Dude, you can´t choose a mic by a review, it can give you an idea, but every mic sounds different on every voice, you should try out both if possible
thanks for tutorial, i have the same microphone!
how do these EQ settings transfer to the GoXLR mini settings? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How would this translate to the Goxlr Mini? It only has 6 equalizer settings.

it is probably your preamp
Restart your goxlr or do a full reinstall sometimes it does that
3500 languages and this guy chose to speak fax
And the switch on the microhpone itself ? " - " or " / " ?
Flat
@@JollyLegend - You say FLAT, but clearly you are not running it on "flat", look at your own video start of stream 00:01 its not on the flat.

I use neither, a shock mount will help with your application.
