  • I had tried other methods found on similar videos and found most of them are stupid asses and ignore the simple fact that there is a easier way to do this process and no sense to make it more complicated than it needs to be.

    Excellent video - that important point about the pin being easy to pull out (being the indication of correct tightness) is a detail completely glossed over by all the other videos on setting the timing belt tension. Without taking that into consideration, the belt could be too lose or too tight.

    So if installing a new hydraulic tensioner and belt you don’t need the long tool? Just the tool to tighten the pull and make sure the grenade pin is loose and that’s correct tension? Cheers for the vid

    Just wondering I took the timing belt off, before aligning the cam gears. And went on to turning the gears individually to aligned the timing marks to top dead centre. I may have turned the exhaust gear fully clockwise twice and the cam gear fully clockwise only once to align the timing marks, will my gears stu be tdc?

    Is this the same for the 4g64 block with the 2.4L motor with the the pin going in and out easy?

      Robert T no sure on that one. The tension is the same but may have a different tensioner.

    The second hole where my grenade pin goes in is turned sideways and doesn't line up with the hole where the grenade pin first goes in. Do I just need to buy a new auto tensioner? Or is this fixable?

      Jesse B no stick the grenade pin in the hole and twist it straight.

    i set my timing belt with grenade pin going in and out..driving car about a year...put a see through cover on it.when i rev it hard looks like the belt has a little wobble up and dwn between the cams..is this normal?.

      Dirty Harry yes that is normal.

      Dirty Harry where did you find a clear cover for it?
      Sometimes the belts look loose but these belt back lash. You need that to help keep the belt cool and prevents snapping, tight belts run much hotter.

    Can you just tighten the pully without messing with the other tensioner

    • @clintonmassey5497
      @clintonmassey5497  4 года назад

      Jordan W Theoretically yes because the tensioners hydraulic however before you tighten it you must roll them over backwards this one sure that the tensioner as far out as possible and then tighten everything down

    If it's too tight what are the symptoms?

    • @clintonmassey5497
      @clintonmassey5497  5 лет назад +3

      John Lucero if it’s too tight the belt will walk off the pulleys and it may make whining noise. The temp of the belt will also be hot. Some of the aftermarket pulleys are slightly larger. It will feel tight but the belt may actually be hitting the pulley.

      Clinton Massey isn’t you’re making a whiney noise when you rev it at the end???
