Jesus Christ. Another absolute goldmine of a video, released so quickly after that unbelievable Sterling Morrison documentary. What did we ever do to deserve Cam Forrester? An absolute hero for Velvet Underground fanatics. Thank you, Cam!
Everything that has been coming out of this channel recently has been so groundbreaking and well-crafted, I’ve been following you since 2022 and you’ve never failed to deliver excellent work in preserving this excellent era of music, not to mention all the great original music! I can’t wait to see where you go next Cam, you deserve 50 times the recognition you have.
@@magraretsbane6274 Thanks my friend - this means a lot! Indeed there's lots more cool stuff to come which I hope will continue to keep you entertained! It's my dream to do this sort of thing full-time, but until that day comes, I'll just keep doing what I do and trying to improve as I go!
Still listening of 0:11 to 1:15, and it just sounds fucking amazing, just like what The Velvet would have done back in the Day. Good on you Cam, Keep up the good Work
Thanks! The Moe hair is actually mine - I grew it out and wore it curly for a while, blow-dried it to style for the video and then shaved it all off again afterward haha 🤣
@@kjcs_1896 Thanks Khyrus! There will be plenty more Doors covers, and other Vox Continental-related videos coming over the next couple of weeks to keep you entertained! :)
Very interesting! And BTW, I meant to congratulate you last week on the excellent Pt III of your Sterling/VU documentary (which could also accurately be written as "sterling VU documentary"). What a great conclusion to a stunning documentary! The immense research, creative use of archival footage, and tight and engaging script were all excellent, and I especially appreciated your audio-visual re-creation of Sterl's guitar parts. Even as a VU obsessive (for far longer than I want to admit), because of the often poor recording quality of the VU (sometimes combined with Lou's egotistical mixes), it often was hard to pick out and thoroughly appreciate Sterling's parts. But now I can hear them! As is all your VU content, it's a real gift you're giving Velvets fans. Also, I love your "Surreal" single, and may have missed it somewhere, but is there a new album coming? I'll definitely buy a digital version or CD if/when the opportunity arises! P.S. You've solved many VU mysteries, so I have a question that I've never seen definitely answered, but I bet you know: Was the guitar solo on "I'm Set Free" played by Lou or Sterling? I always assumed the latter based on the album version, but the live Matrix Tapes version seems to be Lou playing it, based on the rhythm guitar sound and stereo separation.
It would be cool if you could get an interview with Cale. I dont know if he would want to answer questions like this, or even remember. But i did message him on facebook one time and he did read it (or perhaps someone who runs it, but id guess its him), though he didnt respond. But i dont think its too hard to get ahold of him. It was kind of a weird question so dont blame him lol. I was glad he even read it. Thank you for the info though, i always assumed it was Vox cont. Sister Ray has a lot of great fuzz moments. Ive always liked that 60s fuzz kind of sound. On an organ, or on guitar like "I Cant Get No Satisfaction".
@@natetheannihilnater1886 I have tried to reach him a few times, but unfortunately to no avail. I don't know if he ever got my messages - I think at his time of life, it's quite likely that his social media is run by someone else for the most part. But yes, I would love nothing more than to collaborate with him in some way!
@@CAMFORRESTER Yea that would make sense. On facebook, anytime its him posting something, he usually signs it with "xx jc". Though its possible he just tells someone what to say and they type it out. Im sure someone else types out the promotional stuff with links.
He is the sort of private family man these days. Understand that well. And I think he don't want to be reduced only to the VU phase of his career. But who would not like to interview this enigmatic Multinistrumentalist & Composer? I'm sure he meanwhile knows about you,Cam. Maybe one day he will contacting you...getting aware of your talent, who knows!

@@ComradeMarx1017 I would imagine it was through the Westminster amp that they used for the organ at live shows, which is indeed very similar to the Super Beatles in appearance, just a little shorter.
The doors have (unfairly) got a lot more coverage than TVU so I'm not sure if there's anything for you could add or not but hearing your little doors cover at the end was very satisfying, you're absolutely legend at recreating 60's rock. But if you ever do have something you feel like saying about the doors I'm sure we'd love to hear it as well!
I agree 100%! Yes I've done a few Doors covers which will appear over the next couple of weeks, but they're less a showcase for The Doors, and more for the Vox Continental. I'm really glad you've been enjoying my recreations so far - and hope you enjoy what's to come!
Interesting. Any reason you bought the full physical organs over things like a VST? That looks so large and bulky in the modern age! I find the VSTs sound quite good.
@@commonbirdsband Some VST's do come very close in terms of sound, but they lack any kind of physical playing experience, and the difference in sound is definitely noticeable to the trained ear - the originals are real, and sound like it!
Yeah he probably doesn't remember every instrument he played on every track but he did seem to like the super continental, it's been a while since I read his autobiography and my main takeaway was that he thinks Lou Reed Brian Eno are both massive dickheads and his ex wife was crazy.
Hmm interesting, Sister Ray is basically one of the main prosecutors for punk rock & heavy metal even though it has no bass guitar on it. Also you've pretty much doing music ever since you first heard of VU, am I right or what?

The hohner thing sounds a lot like Neutral Milk Hotel's "Avery Island/April 1st"

Did John Cale definitely NOT play the organ on "what goes on" in the ( perhaps erroneously titled?) Live 69 album?

a 1964 vox continental !!!!!!!!!! -I have a 1965 version
