Austin I have seriously stopped being amazed by your fab skills and work in general. Are you kidding lol... your doing an amazing job. It looks absolutely fantastic. This is the best stages of any build. It's the 'wow" stage. Because at the end of each step you stand back and wow.... and it getting closer to the finish. You're a master craftsman Austin. I appreciate your work ethic. Your attention to detail. You don't spend a lot of time talking and "teaching ".. quick explanation and get after it. Your editing skills are such one almost forgets that you are not doing all this in the time frame of this video... but over a couple of weeks. As always looking forward to seeing what's next. It looks great 👍
Wow thank you so much! I appreciate that! I feel like I still have so much to learn!!
I like that you are trying to preserve the old school look of the FJ fenders. I hope it works out!
Thanks! I think I can make it work!
As a 30 year bodyman I am impressed with your work. Great job, this FJ is going to be great.
Hey thanks man! I appreciate that!
That was therapeutic to watch. Thank you for all the hard work you're putting into preserving and beefing up this classic
For someone who is doing this out of their garage/ shop it’s crazy impressive how much talent and skills you have! Gets ya motivated to try this out on some projects I have lying around. Great editing as well, keep up what you’re doing.
Thanks a bunch!!
Superb job very good video Quality well done 🇬🇧
Your attention to detail is amazing. You have lots of patience. The finished FJ should be amazing.
Looks killer man! Keep up the good work
Man this is really coming together nicely! So much work! Well done! 👏🏼
Thank you!!
Can I sell you my 1987 Toyota so you can build another slammed 2wd 😊 love this build, still miss the white truck though. Keep up the good work brother! Amazing job
Здравствуйте хорошая работа. Кузов скачала надобыло отпескоструить или отмыть в ванной с акустической содой. Лучше делать ремонт на чистом кузове.
Should have just got a new icon aluminium body, Already painted.
$$$$$$$$👀
Looks professional 🇺🇸💪🏼🦅🛠️🤙🏼
Recently found your channel, love the rebuild on the FJ40, may I ask one thing though, could you please keep your camera steady, as you look around quickly we also spin round quickly with you, starts getting motion sick
Other than that really enjoy your work and the Toyota is looking amazing, thanks
First day back home post op, blessing to have an upload from Austin. Always killing it in the vids 💪. Thanks for making recovery enjoyable!
Hey thanks man! I wish you a speedy recovery!! 💪💪
I know you mention it every so often but as far as equipment goes, any plans in doing a short video covering the minimum essential equipment to do the metal fabrication like you do on the FJ? If not, can you just reply with a quick list? Going to start restoration on my FJ next month and would love to know what you think the essentials are on a tight budget. Thanks for the great videos! Amazing work!
I'm a beginner with no knowledge in welding. I have a wood shop. Wood is what I know. But have a 98 tacoma xtended cabe in good condition. But needs some attention. How do you remember what goes where? And not find your confidence break. Must been doing this since you were little? How did you get into this?
love your videos but one piece of advice from a machinist entering his 40's, stop hitting things with the palm of your hands.....one day youll wake up with awful wrist and hand pain and arthritis.
I am so jealous. That's turning out bitchen .
I wish I would have kept my 70 FJ 40
Hey I was wondering why you couldn't heat the metal to make it make the bent . Is there a reason why it wasn't an option. As I love learning from your videos
. Keep it up your amazing gifted man . Sending you ❤ from Montreal .
"My expertise level."🙄 This guy is a genius. 👍
Plus, it always helps to have the space, tools and a passive income source from YT to fund everything. 😉
I’m curious about the raptor liner. Is that like a spray in bed liner or an undercoating? I’m looking for something to coat the bottom and inside floor of my car to prevent rust from coming back. It was undercoated in 71 when it was new and a lot of it is still there but it’s missing everything in the back that was covered up.
freakin sweet! cant wait to see the body done!
Wow, what a job!!!!!
Have you ever considered replacing the entire cab with a GRP one or other replacements that are out there?
Make sure to get the dekota digital gauges!
I just had them installed on my 82 fj40 and they’re absolutely amazing.
Austin... I was curious as to the brand of flap wheel that looks like it has a bunch of dots on it. I have seen them before, and I'd like to try them out, but I cant find them anywhere.
Try a kneeling the steel before you try and bend it best way I've found to do it is to take oxyacetylene mix it rich words putting out black smoke run it over your steel until it's blackened and then heat it until the black burns off that's when it is annealed and it will be softer to bend doing a great job though awesome work!
Hit it with the back of any tool just to make shop teachers and ocd cringe. I know the difference but love doing it with certain company.
The amount of work cost of labor. Easley $100 g's plus 4x4.🎉
You can have the tools, you can have the skilz, but sometimes it comes down to good ol' elbow grease.
2:02 Dinger 470 deadcenter
Awesome work . thank you so much for all your hard work 💕 you. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
what kind person ?who have lasercuting tool for diy a jp? hello from twiwan
Austin I notice you say we did this we did that. Just curious if you have a helper that's camera shy.
Good jab man you doing great work I enjoyed watching your best skills
Part of me hopes you put the diamond plate back, or add more 😊
I have the same problem with my rear sill. Are you willing to share the dimensions you used?
All day I was thinking about new fenders. Will there be any aver fenders?
Работа отличная, но кузов может надо было в кислоту отправить?
It's looking great Austin, I'm really enjoying this build. I enjoy everything you do, but this is putting you into a new level of a skilled fabricator! Look forward to the next video to see what you tackle.
Coat those slip rollers up with a good rust prevention oil/grease when not using it. They rust fast
thanks teacher I have and continue to learn expensive knowledge with no coast...that it
Definitely looks pretty dam good for not being a professional body guy!
Well done! Why didn't you heat up and bend the sheet arminute: 15:03 while it was already spot welded?
If you were to sell all your completed builds how much money do you think it would be in total?
ERES EL MEJOR QUE YO HE VISTO TRABAJANDO DE ESA MANERA
Toyota khaki and white roof will look amazing with black wheels! Incredible work as always!
America 🇺🇸💪🏼🦅🛠️
Far better than a whole lot of us could do, Austin. I like you can keep your eyes on the ultimate goal, without worrying too much about this or that, just sticking to your plan. Good investment on the roller, I'm sure you'll get very good at it in the months ahead. For a first swing at using it, great results!
Thanks! Yes the roller will be handy in the future for sure!
Looking great Austin!
Eres un genio Justin, ven a ECUADOR jajajajjajaja
A wire wheel to those rusted panels maybe would have extended the repair life.
It’s going to a cherry just like all of Austin builds
Hello from Kosovo 🇽🇰🇦🇱 God bless you for this work 🙏
How thick of metal are you using to make patch panels?
Tu by było lepiej chyba nową budę pospawać :)
Brillante guys is very good job I like to follow the rest 😅
I’m in Texas where are you located if you don’t mind me asking 🤷🏼♂️
Impressive work . Congratulation
I've been looking for your channel since I forgot your channel's name. Im glad to be able to watch your amazing videos again. I've been following you with your builds. Awesome, really awesome!!
Right on! Welcome back!!
He is a genius and propetional latero very good job perfect
Good looking build! The plates on that 40 is my hometown! You in that area? Scenery outside the shop looks like Post Falls. I have 1972 40 that I’m slowly working on, and I’m looking for a roll bat hoop if you are getting rid of that one?!
Thanks! I’m up north of Spokane! I’m getting rid of the roll bar! Feel free to message me austin@avrcustoms.com
Fj looks meannn. Custom headlights?
Please please please do a full body repair and paint. This car deserves it!
We need a nice paint job, and let’s take her to SEMA
You remind me of my brother, you just know how to do things
I now I have an FJ 40 wist many Rost it was not finished 😊
I can't believe how much rust was on that thing
First thing that came to mind was fiberglass tub. Then I thought no, cracks first good twist and sometimes those are crooked as a dogs hind leg. Then as I was watching I was like hell yeah cut something else off you kick ass forming metal! Now I cant decide whether I like the frame build or this body work! Either way, bad ass brother!!!
Haha thanks man!
First time watching your channel that is bad ass. Your skill are unbelievable.
Sweet! Welcome to the channel!!! I hope you enjoy! 👍
В нас кажуть «в людини золоті руки»
just non-stop gems Austin, fucking epic
I`m very pleased with the result. 🚙😋
Looks good but I like the hiluxs better🥴
Pleasure to watch, man, thanks a lot. Envy your plasma cutter ))
Thanks! The plasma is nice! Check them out, they aren't too expensive! langmuirsystems.com
fill those low spots with weld and grind it flat
I'm really glad you went to the effort to cut out all the spot welds. Raising the rockers is a good idea too. Awesome work.
Thanks man!
What hand tool is that your using to cut the sheet metal ?
You have giving me a lot of ideas for my fj as well thank you
Those are metal shears, work great!
Where did you learn to do all the work you do..
Hey Austin what brand of weld through primer do you use?
I’ve been using the upol 2 primer and it’s been great unlike most weld primers!
Top work
Thanks for sharing with us.
Good job, congratulations 😊
Bro….. as always killer work 🤘😎
I liked the factory running boards, keeps the FJ look. Maybe make something nicer but still kind of looks the same.... safe travels
respect Austin! excellent job!
What size wire have you been using welding these panels?
.035! Probably should pick up some 023 or something for sheet metal though!
I have just one word . awerome,
How did you get to where you are today?
Great work man , Subbed 👍🏼
This is my third video of yours I’ve watched your work is outstanding! Nice work!
I’ve watched the restoration of this Land Cruiser and it’s amazing! I don’t know what the final bill was but I know you couldn’t spend the same amount on a new vehicle and have as much performance value…
And as far as the “panache” factor goes, please!
Great video, thanks for posting!
1st. Sit at table. 2nd remove stroopwafel off of coffee. 3rd enjoy morning watching Autin remove rust. Perfect Sunday morning!
Keep the originals fender 🙏
Awesome work on the rust repair, those quarters look amazing!! That's the FJ Toyota should have built!!
i found this channel because this is exactly what i want to do but with an FJ45. fantastic work and instantly one of my favorite projects
It would look sweet with just adding the grill and leave the front fenders off. What ever you do will be amazing.
Seeing it with the ambulance doors removed. Would be nice to lengthen the rear hatch and make it swing open like the FJ Cruiser
You are seriously skillful! Perfect job and should last many years to come, with lot's of off-roading.
Kind regards.
Bro looks sick! I’m not totally into the idea of 1 ton axles and all, really like how these look factory with just some 33s but you’re doing a great job bro keep it up!
