One World One Ocean. There was a survei some years back on the Greenland shark (Norwegian Håkjerring) first of all, they were supriced of the excisting numbers. The also found that they mainly feed on "steinkobbe"(I don't know the English name) which actually sleeps under water. The Greenland shark is very slow, so they figured they took the seals while they were sleeping. They have found out that it gets VERY old,up to 500 years, and there has been seen sizes up to 7 meters. Some time ago, a Greenland shark measuring more than 4 meters was caught by fishing rod in one of our fjords. This catch is one of the biggest ever made by a fishing rod. A lot of people thinks that Norwegian waters are free of sharks. Actually at least 7 species are resident all along our coastline. The most common ones are, in Norwegian, Pigghå, Håbrand, Håkjerring and Brudge (Basking shark).

They're scavengers. It could have been a dead seal. And actually they live longer than 200 years, the oldest greenland shark was 512 years old and they found ivory lodged into its side from back in the days when they use to hunt whales and other creatures (Probably 200 years ago)
    Amazing creatures definitely.

That was the largest of the 28 Greenland sharks in the study (which had accidentally died during a Greenland Institute for Natural Resources commercial fish-monitoring program.) at 16.5 feet in length. It should be noted that Greenland sharks have been recorded to reach lengths of 24 feet! Who knows how old they can get.
