Thank you, I laughed a lot thanks to you. You are a great gardener, for sure :-))
Thank you so much for watching and commenting 💚❤️🌿💚🪴
Yes!! Progress please
Omg that would just break my heart.
It did break my heart😭😭😭 I loved that Rojo. It’s very slow in growing back. I need to post an update. Those rust spots are awful though and will spread to other plants if not eradicated right away❤️🪴♥️ thank you for watching and commenting.
Oh man! I wish I would of known! I’ll message you the stuff I used. I had rust, and a massive spider mite infestation that I am finally on the tail end of! I swear my heart skipped a few beats when I heard the first crunch of cutting that plant. At least it’s not your big Mama though!!… 😬😂🤣
Oooh this is very interesting and thank you for watching and commenting 🪴❤️ I need more details! I want to talk about this in my video on Thursday. Do you have more info you could email me? I think many viewers need to know this🍃🪴❤️
What did you use to get rid of the spots?
@@giovannicarpio Pure Crop1 Organic. I bought it off of Amazon
we miss you too✋
carolyn palmer love the basket do you remember were you got it?
I got the basket at T.J.Maxx! Love that basket ! Thank you for watching❤️🪴
I as well just purchased a Rojo Congo to go with my recently purchased Xanadu and Giganteum. I'm moving away Alocasia's, tired of partial to full dormancy in the winter. Kudos for sharing your plant with a problem and a solution. Most channels only show their plants when they are healthy.
I recommend not cutting your plant all the way back but instead treating leaves regularly to control the disease. If I had kept up on that, I wouldn’t have had to resort to chopping😭♥️🪴
I have one an I cut mine back an when the leaves started to come back I still had some rust spots
Hi Barbra! Oh no! They came back!? That’s 😢 I am so sorry that happened to your plant. Rust is the Devil. I will keep you guys posted with another update in 6 months and let you know what happens.
Thank you for your video. What is the name of your cane begonia at 5 mins please? I have it in my garden. Is that “rust” the same as the “rust” frangipani get? That prevention is all about creating airflow, and getting rid of infected leaves. However Rojo is an understory plant that loves humidity. My suggestions would be to always quarantine new plants outside if possible to stop infections and infestation. Change the soil medium and if that doesn’t help use the healthy main stem to propagate off. Your wall has those lovely reddish tones too , so lovely.
Hi there! Thank you for watching and commenting. The cane is an angel wing begonia. It's one of my favorites. Very hearty!
Thanks for your advice on the rust spots!
Did u cut near the steam?
I recently did this to mine and now there is a leaf that has grown in all wonky-like.
Hi! I’m sorry to hear this…did you cut just one or many? Do you have it in enough light? It’s so hard to chop…. I don’t see myself chopping mine again…that was so hard to do. I have a few others that I didn’t chop. The one I chopped Hasn’t had enough time to grow, but I will definitely post an update and review the outcome viewers to give my honest opinion on the entire process and of it was worth it. Thank you for commenting and watching.
I just had to do this to my plant yesterday 😢
Awe… it’ll grow back 🌿💚 hang in there. Let me know when you sprout new leaves!
I see a leaf growing in. Thanks
How do you tell rust spots from extra floral nectaries? I went on a cutting spree and realized it probably was not rust spots and just EFN.
Hi mellowmel!
Oh dear! Thank you for this message because yes you’re right…. EFN could be confused with rust spots…I should have gotten better footage. Maybe more zoomed in. Rust looks different than EFN. I should do a follow up to this question in a Qn A in order to help others out with this. Thank you so much for the inspiration 🪴❤️❤️❤️🪴 and thank you for watching and commenting!
I feel your pain…
It was really hard to chop that Rojo but I had to do it! 🤣❤️ thank you for watching!
Just curious how your rojo is doing now? Did the rust completely stop? Thank you
Hi Silvia,
Unfortunately it croaked one winter when we lost power in my house for 5 days. No heat and it was a bad snow storm. 😩😩😭😭😭RIP Rojo❤️ thank you for watching and commenting. I’m always looking for new Rojos but I’m always comparing them to my last one, so I don’t buy. One day, I will get a new one! I have Red Emerald philodendrons in spades! They are related to each other but the Red is a climber and not self heading. How’s your Rojo doing? Is it your favorite plant?
🙁Sorry you had to cut your plant back. I know it will be even more beautiful. I am glad to see you back though. I have a ficus burgundy that has these tiny white specks on the outer parts of the leaves. It was like that when I received. It seems to be growing great but now that I have seen your video I thought I'm it has made me question what it is again. The hoya and Tetrasperma are doing great.
Yes all my other plants are doing well… the rust spots only effected the Rojo. Thank you for commenting and watching❤️🪴🪴
How is it doing now?
It’s taking forever for the new growth. Bummer about that plant. But I have a few other rojos and a giant one. So it’s all good. 🪴❤️ I didn’t have a choice other than to chop it because it had such a bad case of infection and the leaves were destroyed from rust spots and thrip damage anyways. 🥲
My Rojo Congo that i bought has the same red spots and I thought I coudl fix it by spraying it with a fungicide but now found your channel and wonder if the only solution is to cut it away?
Keep treating them and only snip the ones that are unsightly or really infected…. Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@plantluxxe Ok-Thank you for your advice😊 I cut off all the leaves that had spots on them and hope this will help the plant recover and thrive🙏
How did it go? Did you plants recover?
Will the rust spots spread to other plants 🤔
do I have to keep the plant in quarantine if he has a rust spots 🤔
Thanks for sharing ❤️
Hello I have a few that I didn’t chop that have rust spots. I treat them regularly with horticultural oil and neem oil, and I keep them away from the other plants so they’re not touching. Thank you for watching!
So just cut close to the base of the steam
Yes, if you’re cutting
Treat your plants with fungicide solution at least once a month w or wo fungus.
You need to change soil and wash the rooting system of the plants.if it is possible dip it in a water with fungicide.
Yes yes! This is good advice! Thank you for watching and commenting 🪴💚
I was watching this eating toast. Homemade not take out. I had to put my toast down…..this mold…. NO. Kill it! Kill it!!! Your plants are way too nice.
It's a bit drastic.
What are rust spots?
Rust spots are fungus. They are nasty and sodas quickly on the large leaf philodendrons. I will chat about this more in this Thursdays video so that I am thorough about the topic and answer this question…. More viewers might have same question🪴🪴 thank you for watching and commenting ❤️🪴
Doença. ??

The Rojo is living it’s best life now!🪴💕 that rust fungus is no joke…thank you for watching and commenting!
