Dr. Harini, you are a valuable asset together with AKD to the country, through whatever party that stands for justice & fair-play within a democratic framework and over period of time to undo the faltered situations. Jayaweva to Maalimava

      I think the last comment might be an insult to Dr. Harini Amarasuriya who joined the NPP because of her belief in the true potential of the party and not for any political office or any other gain that almost all politicians in this country vie for. I think the people of this country do not comprehend nor understand that the NPP is truly different to any other political party they have known so far...

    Unfortunately, the issue with our education system is caused by corrupt governments due to their economic policies. Years of neglect and underfunding have created an opportunity for profit-focused institutions, which corrupt politicians welcome with open arms due to bribes and commissions that come with it. A bad education system helps those politicians in two ways.
    Firstly, it creates an opportunity for them to line their pockets. Secondly, it creates poorly educated youth who easily fall into traps set by politicians who appear to be saviors by offering low-level jobs and handouts for their benefits. The challenge we face is enormous.
    Funding the education system is not an easy task, and the benefits are long-term. If we manage to prop up and strengthen our education system and the youth, then a prosperous country will no longer be a distant dream for us.❤

    In the first place, the government cannot provide education FoC. Tax payers pay for every free thing. Yes, education is a responsibility of the country. But tax payers do not need feed free education for political parties to use the students for their advantage. Do these politicians pay taxes?
    We all know what our state education sector have produced and where the country is today. We are not even in the first 1000 in rankings. Agree that we need to overhaul the system, but first think how we are going to fund more places and expansion. It's very easy to talk on platforms, but implementing them requires practical wisdoms.

    • @Hsifyrruc63bkN7
      @Hsifyrruc63bkN7 4 месяца назад

      Don’t be ridiculous, all the countries have public universities in the world. We pay tax for everything, for prisons too. Don’t whine about paying tax 😅 I hope u have the practical wisdom to implement those things. How you say students are device of a political party.? Every university time to time students conduct protests for different causes. There are regular struggles for common students at public universities because there are many flaws in it. If it’s okay then students won’t fight. You all know the truth but people like you like to pin it on university students.

    If Anura and his Cohorts receive gifts; Shirts, Trousers, Sarongs, belts of top brands from their wealthy supporters, why can't JVP offers assistance to the people who attend their rallies at least to support part of their expenses. Is this JVP or NPP culture, to ask their (supporters : including families as she says) to find own way to rallies with difficulties. Load of bullshits. With respect to Tertiary education, she never studied in any of the state universities she studied in UK. Now she says the education needs to be regulated and how we know her degrees are recognized by UGC. Furthermore, she now talks that all Sri Lankans (as per A/L results) to be provided SL university place. Has she sat for SL OL or AL. These JVPers have twisted tongues.
    Sri Lankan degrees aren't recognize in the western world in the current day and age, they find employment elsewhere but not substantiated with the degrees obtain in SL. All are under-employed, most of them resort to masters/diploma degrees to revive for potential employment.She is brushing off by saying perceptions, exceptions and notions.
    It is unfair to bring/compare Open University example as most of them are studying while working and want to complete ASAP unlike state other universities. As a visiting lecturer at Open University at the time of inception, most of the students were employed.
    Finally, the local university students cannot compete with foreign university students in the interviews especially private sector. As anyone knows SL government cannot absorb all state university students offering jobs.
    She is in an Illusionary plane, come to reality please
