Listening to the guys talking about people crying....had this experience on Saturday night in Sydney...end of concert...tears just started flowing....thank you Pearl Jam....special music & people ❤
I loved all these interviews. Steve Gleason asked some very good questions. But awww, how sad when Eddie started tearing up talking about his dad! So sad that his dad didn't get to see him sing, or become the success he is today.
@@oscarpicon7164 These people clearly don't get that he was writing The, 6 yet 6 years after the post and Simply stating 2013-2019 they're still going strong lmao because his comment was in 2019 !they can't read lmao
You dolts missed what he was saying, 6 years since the interview.... anyways I still have my PJ "10" CD, taken out of my 1986 Honda CRX high school car. Like older people say about records, CD's sound better than MP3's.

my girfriend left me when I was about 19 ,then my brother killed himself shortly after.off he goes always resonated and made me cry .I played it at his funeral...good song.
I remember watching a Documentary on the “Grateful Dead in the 90’s” about the “Parking Lot” or “Shakedown Street” whatever you want to call it but the Narrator/interviewer in the film did a piece where a VH1 or Somebody from the likes there of said “The Grateful Dead has lasted Generations, a Following for over 25-30 years there’s not many Bands that can do this, for example if You take one of the most popular Band now like Pearl Jam, they wont be able to hold the test of time throughout the years or Generations.” Again this Documentary was filmed/released in 93’ i believe so looking back who would have thought how WRONG this Guy was who said this! Pearl Jam going on now as a Band 30+ years later….incredible.
One of the more interesting PJ things in their journey was during Vitalogy. Eddie’s taking control of the band and firing of Abbruzzese isn’t discussed. I think it’s something they would prefer people don’t talk about.
I think it happened eons ago just the second album and the difficulties getting it down and on top that fans have done it to death 10 times over. There isn't a thread available where drummers or Matt are mentioned where people go on & on about Dave ad nauseum. I loved him from the first time I heard the band in '92 & I was grieved when he was fired but then I didn't have to live with him and personality & culturally he just didn't fit, a gun owning Texan among 90s Seattle folk. Besides you may remember pictures from the Vitalogy sessions with Dave with his arms in therapy. His tremendous bashing may have naturally limited his longevity, maybe! Each subsequent drummer brought something new & fresh to the vibe, the totality of of the band And Matt Cameron added the stability, versatlity & professionalism that allowed the band to stay together & creative for the long term! I think we might not still have a band without him and for this I am eternally grateful. For me that's the answer no matter how I felt about Dave A before I really got to understand the band. Like a marriage, chemistry is a whole lot of the equation.
@@sandrawarmbreath2013 It was Pearl Jam’s third album, not second album. Dave played on all but two tracks on it and was dismissed before it was completed. I think people go on ad nauseam about it because Dave was their best drummer in a lot of People’s opinion. Imo, he brought the most power and hardest edge to the band. Certainly the “gun owning Texan” personality didn’t mesh well with Eddie’s Southern California surfer dude vibe.
Agreed. Little since Dave was told by Stone He was fired had been talked about by the Band. Such as the contributions, recording sessions and overall Dave’s style and techniques that were different from those before and since after. Like Dave writing the music for “Go”, “Last Exit”, “Daughter”, “Elderly WBSC”, “Dissident”, “Animal”, just to name a few. Its clear that after VS. Eddie wanted to get back to having His Own Creative Genius thus Vitalogy. As all the PJ Drummers were world class and added a beautiful element of Genius to the Bands success, IMO Dave’s style, power, connection with/to Jeff Ament and the bass, and overall energy groove was infectious, raw, and was Pearl Jams best Live performances. Pink Pop 92’ being one of Them!
@@C_mey Dave’s power and style were harder and heavier than the others. His kit was more like Neil Peart’s, or other hard rock and metal drummers. Irons and Cameron’s basic drum kits reflected their simpler basic style.
I bought the first three the day they came out and never bought another. Just lost interest. Ten was amazing. Crazy how they only sold less every new album
So is Pearl Jam now like the Stones, they haven't had a hit song or high placing album in many years, and will live off touring?? I'm not saying anything negative, just wondering? I saw Eddie has something called the Earthlings, is that his side band?
Similar to Metallica’s black album which is actually named “Metallica”. I did see in an interview somewhere that they were talking about the avocado album art and one of them (maybe Mike?) said that when they were done recording everything they were pretty exhausted (they'd also been touring). When they started talking about the album art Ed said something about not caring what went on the cover at that point, they could put an avocado on the cover for all he cared. So they did.
Best in your opinion. I did a survey on Ten Club message boards, and had everyone rank their favorites from first to worst, and the top 3 were Vs, then No Code, and Yield had the 3rd highest average. My favorite is Vs, then Yield then No Code, but that's my opinion, just like you have yours, and neither of us is right, because just like Jeff said in Pearl Jam Twenty "it's art", which means it's subjective, and that's why the Grammy's are stupid, and why someone saying without qualifications that a certain piece of art is the best is stupid as well, it's only the best in your opinion, and those who agree with you, which as best as I could tell from the poll is less than 20% of PJ fans.
