- Hi! I searched around for the best way to do this and didn't come up with much, so I decided to make my own video. Please comment or ask questions. I hope this helps someone who wants to know..
Thank god for this fucking video. Can't believe this is THE ONLY place to find this information.
Thanks Christian! Glad it helped!
Thanks Christian! Glad it helped!
Thanks Christian! Glad it helped!
I second this! This issue has been doing my head in for some time. Thank you for saving me from some hours of frustration that I can now actually use to make music...
Thank God INDEED👍
Man!!! This is great information! I’ve been searching on how to do this and couldn’t find anything anywhere!!! Thank you for this, will try it out today as soon as I get off work!!!!
That's EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks for this! Nice and easy explained, well done!
Such simple instructions for such an irking problem... couldn't get my APC40 and Launch Control to agree. Thanks for this!!
I have to MPK49, but don't know where I can change Ch1, CH2 thing.... any ideas? cheers!
Most useful ableton tutorial, thanks for doing the ground work and making this for everyone.
Exactly what I needed. Perfect for this noob! Thanks for putting in the time on this and sharing it with everyone.
worked! thanks for the video, I was looking for a long time for this solution.
9 years later and Thanks! A whole fucking lot my man!!!
Funny thing I stumbled upon this video cause I center everything around my Keylab 25 and I'm purchasing a Beatstep Pro very soon, I prefer to stay with one brand to avoid compatibility issues and they look like a pair. This video answered allot of questions I was thinking about. Thanx
Thank you! This was exactly what I was looking for and was complete. Now I "only" need to figure out how I want to set my rig up!
Brilliant fire video 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
thank you so much man, it brings Ableton to a whole new level for me...
You have no idea. This is how i make music naturally when i went inside of music stores with 2 keyboards, one for the beat and one for the sound. Again thanks for this awesome tutorial.
And after 6 years still very useful! Thanks
Really excellent, exactly what I needed to know
Thank you soooooo muuuuuch for this!!!! that was exactely my problem with my controllers Thank You!!!

Well, that was very helpful, thanks
Bro thank you so much!
Informative AF =]
Jeff Kerestes Hi, this helped me a lot but I have an issue: When I change the global chanel of my Beatstep and I go back in Ableton, there's no response from my Beatstep... Can you help me ?
Any suggestions for running a drum module AND and keyboard controller? As in how to route the actual midi cables…. The midi through on the keyboard didn’t do the trick. I’m thinking I need a midi interface with multiple inputs to merge the midi from my keyboard and drum machine. Thanks
Hi man, thanks for this great video! I have an issue I'd like to get insights on:
I have 2 identical MIDI MIX connected to my Mac. How can I send different info on both these similar MIDI MIXES?
I keep having the issue of moving one fader in Ableton (ex: CC23) and it automatically affects the other knob also triggered by CC23 on the other midi mixer.
Any solutions?
thanks!!
thanks man! great!
I am trying to assign an expression pedal on a FCB1010 to move to pan knob and at the same time have a button on an Oxygen 49 to bring the knob back to the center, I have set different midi channels on both controllers but I can't assign one to the pan knob without deleting the other one. Any ideas?
good one
BRAVO!!!
Arming one or many tracks has always been a feature. CTRL + Arm will arm another track in addition to the currently armed tracks.
Do you need to use an external soundcard to plug the midi devices into to reduce latency? Something like a focusrite scarlett? Or are you just plugging straight into your computer?
Cheers!
Yeah :D we love you mate
Useful video. Question: I am planning to buy some midi controllers for my live sessions, but not sure how to plug more than 2 since my mac has 2 usb ports (1 for the interface where I can plug a midi signal and the other usb port for another midi controller. But What if I want to plug, let's says 5 gadgets? I tried once with a USB multiport but did not work well, maybe the multiport device wanst strong enought or something.
Im trying to use 2 mpk49 for live purposes, but can't fin how to change de Ports or Channels, any idea?. Thanks for the video, hope you can help me with this. Cheers!
Awesome! thank you.
Good tutorial
thank you!!!!!!
TNXXX!
Loved this. Thanks. I get a crackling sound sometimes in between, when I play, especially for some fast tempo melodies...any hint to resolve the crackling? I chose ASIO drivers for Audio in my Ableton 10 Intro. Thanks in advance.
Check your buffer, put it on 256 or 512. HTH
@@GarryGnu Thanks for your reply.
Have found a workaround. I connect my Focusrite audio interface and choose that driver. The issue is resolved because choosing this driver means the computer soundcard is freed from DAW running and the driver gets utilised only for DAW sound processing. So even the latency experience is within acceptable levels. Thanks again. 😀
I use Arturia minilab and Native Instruments M32.
Hİ, I have a question. What do I have to do to make one of the pads of a controller control tracks1-8 and the second controllers's pad to control tracks 9-16 without manually assigning midi notes. I need to do this on automapping.
Thanks
I can't seem to figure out the part where you put one of them on midi channel 2. You mentioned you had set the global settings of one of them to channel 2 on midi lab but where can I find that in Ableton? I'm using an APC40 and MPD26 and I want them both to be on separate channels. Help much appreciated. Thanks!
same problem here.... did you figure it out?
cheers!
It’s in his midi controller’s software called “midi lab “ that comes with the arturia products
How do I send two keyboards to control one track not using "all ins" ?
you're the fn man
What's up Jeff? This is John Vold's bandmate, Jonny. Small world! I stumbled on your video trying to figure out how to get our two Alesis Vortexes to work with Ableton simultaneously, but separately (like in this video). I know very little about MIDI and even less about Ableton (we had been using an old 90s sound module and an iPod touch to get sounds), so maybe this can't be done, but the problem is that everything you outline in this video doesn't seem to work because Ableton doesn't recognize that there are two separate devices. To make things worse, we use a third party wireless MIDI system (two AirPowers--the two units show up as one device in Ableton). Any ideas?
On a PC you have to open up the Preferences - Midi Sync, all the options you're looking for are in there
superfunkfantasy Hey Jonny! John Vold is one of my favorite people! Did you ever get your setup to work? I don't have any ideas but am curious if you found a solution. Hope it worked out for you. Best, JK
Couldn't figure it out…seems it might not be possible. I ended up hardwiring wireless instrument transmitters inside the keytars and velcroing iPod Touches over the drum pads instead--works almost perfectly.
I fucking love you. peace
thank you thank you thank you !!!
:D:D:D:D:D
just buy an apc40 and some midi keyboards
