Lovely job! I used to deliberately challenge myself, by making models from stuff I found about the house. My favourite, back in the 1990's, was a small model of what I decided was an asteroid mining vessel, made from two plastic clips from a bit of flat-pack furniture, an offcut of tubing, and some bits from a 1/24 scale set of Formula 1 pit accessories. It's a tiny model, but it looks vast, if you see what I mean. Sadly, my eyesight isn't good enough to do stuff like this now. If you are ever stuck for colour ideas for your models, might I suggest having a look at some of the ships painted (usually as book covers) by Chris Foss, in the 1970's. Wild designs and bold colours. Nice one. 👍👍👍
That sounds pretty cool! I'd be interested in seeing the model if you still have it! Maybe send me some pictures via my email? Also, thanks for the recommendation! I will check out your suggestion! Much appreciated! 🖌🎨😃👍👍
I was thinking a small science vessel, roughly the size of a small shuttle... There are no weapons or defences so its pretty much out to do some research of some kind...
I think its definitely a good method for making props, not only is it fun, creative and good for the environment, but it can be great for stretching the budget on a movie! 🎥📹🛠🔧✅
No, you are not alone. I constantly doubt how my progress will turn out. I've even given up after hours spent due to my own insecurities in scratch building.
Yeah, I have been there plenty of times... I lost count of the times I started a project, got myself overhanging and then started something new... I REALLY pushed hard to complete this, but even now I am thinking of a few changes I can make... 💭💭🤔
I've done huge lighted models over the years. running strips of copper tape through the interior reduces the wiring mess. You solder the led's to the tape one end and power at the other. many bulbs can solder onto a length of tape. think slot car track pattern for the tape.
you are not alone, i sometimes begin a drawing and then the procratination hits as soon as i feel im at a point where i dont know how to progress further
@DarlingbroughSciFiBuilds I ride with my bike to work, 40km per day and sometimes i don't listen to music just riding and it gets me into a state where my mind frees up a bit and i get a bit more headroom (literally), than sometimes the flow gets back for painting or getting other stuff done, but it's not a permanent solution cause it depends much on mood and other factors like weather, social stuff etc.
That sounds like a good idea... I find it difficult to find times when I 1. Have time to focus on stuff, 2. Have the energy and 3 have the motivation... Sometimes I manage 2 out of 3, but finding all 3 in sync is rare... 🧠⚡💡
Good stuff, those wires you're using for the leds are absolute overkill, and I think you'd have less trouble getting them into a model if you use much thinner ones.
Thanks for the comment! Haha yeah, you are probably right, but I was using what I had to hand... Ill look into more appropriate wires for the next electronic project! 🚦🚥💡🛠⚒🙃
Ahhh! Thanks for the correction! I didn't realise that is what it was when I built it / made the video... I also have no clue where I got it from, but it found it's way into my collection of greeblies... 🤣😂
Thank you! I am glad you like both the video and also the model! I am really pleased how it came out, but if I am honest I think I could've done a better paint job, weathering etc.. But progress is progress! You live, you learn! 😁🍻
That is true! I am enjoying figuring things out, seeing what I can come up with, and am really trying to push the boundaries of the details I add to a model... Its been a LONG time, but I am going to go back to some of the incomplete projects and working on them, applying the techniques and skills I have learned recently! ✂️📐📏🔨🪛🚀🛸🎬
doing the 1950s b-movie version of this. made a rocket out of a spent can of shaving cream, 3 disposable razor handles, a snapped guitar string, and some tinfoil.
Oooh! That sounds cool! Would love to see photos of it when you're finished! (You can send them in an email, contact details are in the description!) 😁😁🖌🛠🚀
Let me add one thing to your learning experience. The white part you were using as the starting point for your build was not a USB Powerbank at all, it was also a Vape, holding two 18650 Batteries. Eleaf, the manufacturer never made Powerbanks, only Vaping Devices. 😊
Aaahhhh! Thank you for the update! I have no idea where I sourced it from, and didn't actually check to see what it was from, so thanks for pointing that out! Seems like I used more vape materials and resources than I initially thought! 🤔😁
@@DarlingbroughSciFiBuilds Actually the idea of a possessed scale modeler could make quite a funny short film. Sort of the close encounters the devils tower out of mashed potato scene.... ruclips.net/video/cdkS0TgEG30/видео.htmlsi=_kR3E-y3MsAtTUpl
Haha I know the scene... A model builder becomes obsessed with a signal and starts raiding the bind to build the ship he is them abducted on! Hmmmmm.... 🤔🤔🤣😂
Wow! 4 months? Thats not too bad... My initial project on this channel (the Guyver unit - check it out!) took me about a year and a half! I expected it to take about 2-3 weeks! Haha
@@DarlingbroughSciFiBuilds I was working with 1/64th scale die-cast. But I love kit bash mash and junk bash mash. I like what you do and how you present. Very inspiring to the builder in us all.
Thank you very much for the comment and the encouragement! Am glad I can inspire others in a hobby I have been interested in doing since I was a kid! 😁😁🚀🚀
Thank you for the comment and suggestion! I do actually have a set somewhere, but I couldn't find it... I suspect its still in my old shed - I'll need to have a look when I can for them, especially as I'll be using a LOT of LEDs in my next build! ✂️📏📐🛠🪚💡💡💡
OMG! Wow!! I'm a little bit star struck!🤩🤩 I watch your channel all the time, so this feels like a celebrity has just given me an autograph! Haha!🤣😂 Thank you for subbing and for commenting! I feel less alone in my plight now! Keep scratching that build! 🔨✂️📐🤣
Haha Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, a few people have pointed this out to me... I have no idea where it came from, but it ended up in with my greeblies, so yeah... ! 😁😁
Sometimes I find doubting yourself and overthinking a little can be good at times, how else do you find new or more efficient ways to complete a task. Also I’m always getting new ideas for my own models, I’ve just built a miniature Pak-40 anti-tank gun and styrene could be useful in making some buildings for a diorama
Thanks for the comment! I think there's a difference between taking the time to work out a solution to a problem (or even working out a more efficient way of doing things) than overthinking to the point you make NO progress! Nice choice in the models! Have you made a diorama to go with them? 🖌🛠🔧
@@DarlingbroughSciFiBuilds I haven’t made a diorama yet but your videos are helping a lot with inspiration and ideas. I’m also learning a lot of new methods like using a dry brush palette
@macgray1214 Wow, thanks for the comments! I'm glad to hear that my videos are bringing inspiration to others! Its one of the reasons I wanted to create this channel, so I'm happy I'm achieving what I set out to do! 😁😇
With enough creativity, I reckon you could build a space ship out of pretty much anything! I've heard that the model builders on Star Wars actually used a potato as one of the ships in a background shot! So, yeah! Anything is possible! 💡💡🛠⚒📐🚀🚀
All praise to the youtube Ai! As it recommended a channel with similar interest but with far more talent than I have! Subscribed and liked!

I was thinking a small science vessel, roughly the size of a small shuttle... There are no weapons or defences so its pretty much out to do some research of some kind...
i use loads of these techniques when making my own props - particularly repurposing junk from around the house... its very satisfying
