    One more thing about Pokeball types: The Beast Ball, although is very effective against Ultra Beasts, if you try to use it against a non-Ultra Beast Pokemon, it actually has a WORSE catch rate multiplier than the regular Pokeball's 1x catch rate modifier. Seriously, the Beast Ball being used on any non-Ultra Beast Pokemon is so unlikely to catch it, that you're nearly ensured to have it fail against Pokemon that are not Ultra Beasts. And yet, players use the Beast Ball to catch some Pokemon, for bragging rights, or just to have the Pokemon have a cool "send into battle" Ball animation

    I think that probably as far as lore goes, the premier ball (at least in the first game where it debuted) is technically a pokeball given to the player to commemorate the opening of the PokeMart (as their form of advertising). That´s why you receive the pokeball as part of a bonus for your purchase of 10 regular pokeballs.
    And in current times is more meant to be a pokeball that you can use to commemorate the encounter/capture of a pokemon that you find special on a personal level (your favorite pokemon, a shiny pokemon, etc).

    Fun fact: The Love Ball was one of the aforementioned balls that had a glitch in its mechanic in Gen II. See, while it is supposed to give the catch rate multiplier to Pokemon of the same species but opposite gender, it instead gave the multiplier to Pokemon of the same species and same gender. This was because of a programming error that was fixed in time for Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

    Sounds like you may be confusing "premier" for "premiere". Premier is a synonym of "elite" or "best" while premiere is a synonym of "debut" or "unveiling" (gotta love the English language, huh?). Premier balls are one of my favorites for sure and that's mostly because of the simplistic design and the in-game idea of it being a rare or top tier ball. You’d have the regular with no special name, the perfect/final one would start with an M (which would be Master for Poké Balls and Max for other items, excluding Full Restore and Full Heal), Super for the lesser or only middle upgrade (if any), and Hyper for the higher of the two middle upgrades (if there are two middle upgrades).
    Thus:
    Poké Ball, Super Ball, Hyper Ball, Master Ball (catching);
    Potion, Super Potion, Hyper Potion, Max Potion (heal only HP);
    Revive, Max Revive (recover from fainting and heal HP);
    Ether, Max Ether (heal PP for one move);
    Elixir, Max Elixir (heal PP for all moves);
    PP Up, PP Max (increase max PP for a move);
    Repel, Super Repel, Max Repel (avoid encounters with lower-leveled Pokémon);
    Lure, Super Lure, Max Lure (LGP/LGE only; increase encounters)
    There are the Rods (which go Old Rod, Good Rod, Super Rod rather than Old/Good Rod, Super Rod, Max/Master Rod or even Old/Good Rod, Super Rod, Hyper Rod), the Full Restore and Full Heal (which act pretty unusually as Full Restore heals HP and status effects and Full Heal heals status effects, so they don’t have upgrades), individual status effect healing items (which don’t have upgrades for the same reason), X items and the related Dire Hit (which just increase a stat and don’t have upgrades even though they could), Guard Spec. (which wouldn’t really have an upgrade), Rare Candy (just raises the level by one and doesn’t have an upgrade or lesser version, the Safari Ball (which is a special ball only used in a specific area), TMs and HMs (which wouldn’t make sense to be upgraded), and vitamins other than PP Up or PP Max (as they don’t have upgrades, nor would an upgrade make much sense), but other than those, all Gen 1 items that can be used regarding Pokémon follow this system, and of them, only the Rods are actually upgrades of any sort, and even then, there is Super for an upgrade and no Great.
    The use overseas of Great and Ultra for Pokéballs is actually pretty unusual when you think about it. Like, why did the Super and Hyper Balls’ names get localized to Great Ball and Ultra Ball, respectively, but the Super and Hyper Potions, the Super Repel, and the Super Rod kept their names in the international releases?

    • @hhjan594
      @hhjan594 2 года назад +3

      A good guess, but it actually doesn't make sense when you look through its Japanese names. Potions and revives and ethers and elixirs actually don't follow this naming logic in Japanese.
      For Pokeballs in Japanese, they are called Monster Ball (モンスターボール), Super Ball (スーパーボール), Hyper Ball (ハイパーボール) and Master Ball (マスターボール).
      The Potions, on the other hand, are known as Potion (傷薬), Good Potion (いい傷薬), Excellent Potion (すごい傷薬) and Full heal Medicine(満タンの薬, because it fully heals your pokemon's HP.)
      Revives are known as Energetic shards (元気のかけら), Max revives are known as Energetic blocks (元気の塊).
      Ether is PP Aid (ピーピーエイド), Max Ether is PP Aider (ピーピーエイダー), Elixir is PP Recover (ピーピーリカバー), and Max Ether is actually called PP Max (ピーピーマックス). PP up is called Point Up (ポイントアップ), while PP Max is called Point Max (ポイントマックス).
      Repels also have another logic of namings. Repel is Bug Repel Spray (むしよけスプレー), but Super Repel and Max Repel ane known as Silver Spray (シルバースプレー) and Gold Spray (ゴールドスプレー)
      As a player that plays Pokemon in at least 3 kinds of language, I can very surely tell you that the localization is actually more logical than the original names. The names in Japanese will make sense in their language, but those items never kept their original names' "literal meanings" once localized into English, I would guess it's because in the 1990s localization was heavily put into the effort to make things sound more like something that you would hear in your own language, rather than the original language.
      Oh yeah, I forgot to say, the rods actually follow the same logic with the Potions. They are called Old Rod (ボロの釣竿), Good Rod (いいの釣竿) and Excellent Rod (すごい釣竿).
      I can explain more of the naming lore behind other different objects if you would like to know.

    • @hhjan594
      @hhjan594 2 года назад

      @@shadowtartaros2043 I would believe that is pretty much the case. No matter which language, I would see the localize text or names be more fitting in their respective language. As long as the translation works, they consider more about how the people using the language feels about these names instead of keeping the original meaning around. This trend can easily be seen in a lot of moves and abilities, like the move Double Team was never translated into "Shadow Clone" despite it holds the same Japanese name as a very famous ninja move that Naruto likes to use. A lot more moves and abilities that tie more in Japanese culture also has this issue, the localizers care more about how this item or effect could be named more suitable in the proper language rather then the original meanings.

    The dusk ball has up to ×8 catch rate if you're catching a dark,ghost,psychic pokemon at night and inside a cave or somewhere else dark. Also the quick ball still has a higher cath rate until turn three and and lastly you can get a higher catch rate for mythic and legendary pokemon its never going to beat some of the more interesting pokeballs but it is still better than your standard pokeballs.

    The primier ball is also the 4th active ball in Pokemon Go, as all the Pokemon you capture from raids or rescue from Team Rocket are caught using them (from a pool determined by the results of the fight and player achievements) instead of the player's ball supply. Any unused ones are lost.
    So, if you see a legendary or mythical Pokemon in a trade via Pokemon Home or compatible games, it probably came from Go originally.

    2. Beast Ball - Used to catch my favourite group of Pokémon, the Ultra Beasts
    3. Luxury Ball - Love the sleek black design

    Hi, I'm late, your video was just randomly recommended to me.
    So, as a person who works in retail, I can tell you right now that the premiere ball is literally called that as an incentive for customers to return to the Poke Mart. That's it. Most retail chains have, or had, specialty giveaways or other such gimmicks to entice customers to return. The most common is the "Buy One Get One" or BOGO promotion. A variant of this that a lot of stores do for small, cheaper items is "Buy 10 for $10" or "Buy 10 get 1 Free!" Essentially the Premiere ball is a regular item given a fancy name so it, and the customer who gets it, feels special.
    Another interesting little quirk about it is that you only get one per shopping spree. I.E. if you buy 20 Poke balls at once, you only get 1 premiere ball, but if you buy 10 Pokeballs, then buy another 10, you'll get 2 premiere balls. This is almost exactly how a lot of these specialty sales work too. So savvy customers will make sure to split their purchases so they get the most for their money.

I believe the biker bought up great balls, and exchanging them to other trainers so he can pain the regular pokemons into ultra balls and proceed to sell them back as ultraballs.
