I envy you having hedgehogs as natural neighbors! Im in Western Pennsylvania USA; on my property we have a continuing familial line of chipmunks, one or two new generations every year, and several squirrel families, one of which all have striped tails like raccoons! I feed them all and keep watch over them, especially from the local hawks patrolling the sky.

@@ildart8738 this is something I've picked up on since becoming acquainted w 'hogs via the internet. Shame for us! Maybe there's a gang of hoglets that are building a raft for a transatlantic passage to the States as we speak. 🤞
@@ildart8738 In the U.S , we actually do keep hedgehogs as pets. They are not as dangerous as you think they are but they are quite the small creatures that people enjoy to take care of. I am quite impressed with your work with the mother hedgehog and the hoglets! They are quite adorable and the mother seems to be really happy to have her 5 babies. I am glad the mother did not eat them, since female hedgehogs do eat one of her babies due to stress. Congratulations for the hoglets! Can't wait to see what they're up to!
I,ve been raising hedgehogs for 26 years I,ve had approximately 14 hedgehogs some when they were just 6 weeks old some aleady adults no matter they have always been my favorite animal
These animals are naturally nocturnal and will hide and borrow from light , Exposure to bright lights may result in blindness !!!! please keep them in dark and black lit rooms!!! Take them for evening walks in the park or back/front yard at leased a few hours for decent recharge. Please research these animals before purchase, housing ,selling.
I have a hedge hog and no. They do not need to be kept in a dark room. Natural day night cycle is best. My hog sometimes chooses to wake up in the middle of the day to run in her wheel. That being said do not shine a bright light like a flashlight in hog, animal or persons face. I would not reccomend letting them loose outside unless you have them in a fence they are incredibly fast and it's easy to loose one. Do not use a leash on your hog it can be dangerous and possibly kill them.

Better let your mother hedgehog do the thing. Just give her high quality cat food, mealworms and lots of water. For the hoglets, you can serve crushed cat food only when they're 3-4 weeks old.
