Great to hear you again Marty!
I love Holbein for their transparency and I have almost all of their blues 😋
You have great taste. Those blues are really nice.
I’ve missed seeing you with new videos. Your voice is so relaxing, just what we need now in troubled times.
Hope you are keeping well. I’m so glad we have art materials right now.
Thank you so much Sue. I really appreciate the kind words. Hoping you are staying sane and healthy in all of this.
Marty!! It's so nice to have you back!
I really love Holbein paints, they are pretty and very easy to use :D
Thank you Eve. Love following your work on Instagram. Hope you are well my friend.
Hi Marty, thanks for the swatching. Really glad to hear from you. I've missed your videos.
Absolutely and thank you for watching.
I love these paints too. Especially the vibrancy of the colors. I have all 108 of them. Karen from Canada ☺☺☺☺
Wonderful! I think these are great!. Thank you for watching. I also love Canada!!
So happy you are back! Thanks for the review.
Thank you Patricia.
i love my new holbein watercolours- painted the hole night through on Arches and Saunders paper. Thanks for your Video!
Wow! That's great to hear. Have fun!!!
Great to hear your voice! Such beautiful colors! I think the marine blue is my favorite. Stay safe and well my you tube friend!!🎨🖼
Thank you Ally. I love the blues as well. Thanks for the nice note.
Welcome back!and you're featuring my favorite watercolors!my faves are quin gold, prussian blue, and quin scarlet ☺️☺️💕
Thank you and those are great colors!
Hey man! I only have about a half dozen Holbein wc's but they are quite nice. I don't need to stock up on yet another brand but I see why people like them. I really love their gouache. Next to Schmincke, Holbein gouache topped my list.
Hi Steve - I agree with you on the Holbein gouache for sure, but like you, I prefer the Schmincke just a tiny little bit more. I saw you just posted a new video and I'm heading over to check it out. Hope you are well my friend. Talk to you soon.
I like the grey of grey, mineral violet and leaf grreen, or colors i cant get from daniel smith. I also like the opera rose or brilliant pink, and for some reason all the operas or pigments that contain pr122 was either pulled from the shelves on amazon or is out of stock. Its weird, even wisteria that is mostly white with a touch of pr122 is gone, one retailer will pop up with "in stock", then quickly go away. Maybe a new fad i havent heard of.
Hello Marty! So good to hear a familiar voice! I purchased a handful of Holbein watercolors at Wet Paint last Fall and I really enjoy their vibrancy! Your review has me considering the dot cards to decide on future purchases. Your review enabled me to put my mind somewhere interesting and comforting! Thank you! Stay safe and healthy my friend!
Hi Denise - Really great to hear from you and it makes me feel good that the video brought you some comfort. Crazy times right now and it's therapeutic for me to return to doing some videos. Not sure how long I'll do them, but it's real good to know people enjoy them. Hope you and Carl and the family are hanging in there and making the best of life despite the situation.
So nice to see you back on RUclips. We have missed you.
Thank you Catherine.
I am soo happy you are back!!!!!
Thank you Maria. You made my day!
@@owingsart you make my day too 🎨
Welcome back Marty!!!! Thanks for the nice video, kept me company as I worked on my morning figure sketch. Hope you are well and keep sharing over on IG as well.
Thank you so much John and thanks for staying in touch in Instagram with me. I really appreciate it.
I’ve missed seeing your videos! Hope you’re doing well. Holbein watercolors were my first artist grade watercolors.
Thank you for the kind words Michelle. I appreciate the support. You have good taste in paints.
I'm happy that your are back, long time no see your reviews and clips. Time flies, and my collection of color pencils plus watercolors have increased much. Many thanks for your begining guidances and wish your best in this gloomy time.
The bamboo green, compose blue, scalert lake now discontinue and replaced by new series, more vibrant.
Thank you so much Han. I really appreciate it.
Thank you Marty, I too like the Holbein watercolors!
Me too!
Oh my gosh! Marty! Welcome back! Missed you so BIG! Thanks for the review. I've always wondered about these watercolors. Some people say they're great for beginners because they don't move as much as other watercolors, therefore, you have a little more control over them. I really love the vivid colors. They're pretty pricey from what I've seen here in the USA.
Thank you very much Alicia, those are such kind words and very much appreciated. Sometimes you can get these on sale which is the best way to buy them. :-)
I love their Quinacridone red, Quinacridone gold (orange in mass tone but yellow in dilute), royal blue, manganese blue nova, ultramarine light and deep, paynes grey (I have only tried their brand so I can't compare)
They make nice reds and blues and I use the Paynes grey all the time.
Love Holbein paints in general there gauche and acrylics are some of my favorites!! Great review Marty. 😊
Hope you are well my friend.
Owings Art I’m doing well here Marty, trying my best to help as many as possible and help with food insecurity, etc. So busy to say the least. I’m enjoying seeing you back on the Tube! Thanks for the video! I hope you all are doing well. 😊
Hi Marty! Always great to see your videos! Hope you're well and healthy!
Hi Star! Doing well my friend. how are you doing these days?
@@owingsart I'm doing okay, family is healthy so far. Just a bit anxious because of the current pandemic.
Those are such happy colours! I didn't know, they made dot cards. Need to find me some :) Thanks for the video!

Hi Marty! I am revisiting your channel after seeing you with Lindsay a couple of weeks ago. I got a small starter set of 6x5ml tubes from Jackson´s and I am looking to add a few additional ones. Your swatching has helped me find new favourites to add. So nice to hear you did your own light-fastness test too!
Thanks so much. Good to hear this helped!!
Thanks Marty.
Very welcome
A delight to see a new video. If I get the chance to buy a few tubes, I will. Unfortunately, no brick and mortar stores except Hobby Lobby or Joann in my area.

So happy that you’re back, we’ve missed you, Marty. I have one question however. Why is white in so many watercolor palettes, since most watercolorist would never use it? Hope to see you soon. Keep safe!
I think its that white is one those colours that have transferred from oil paint sets. The mentality of having white is so old that everyone does it and that they have the mindset of if its not broke don't change it. Even if it's impractical for the traditional watercolour painter.
Round Crouton ok, makes sense. I work mostly with acrylic, colored pencil and graphite. We do use whites
Howdy Rhonda! Thanks for the kind words. I'm one of those weird painters that uses white a LOT. I use it to tone down other colors, especially when I'm trying to get a precise tonal value. For example skin tones, which have a million varieties. I also use it in my landscapes for toning greens, blues and browns. There's probably a better way, but this is what I learned. Hope that makes some sense. All the best - Marty
Owings Art thanks for your explanations and reply. 👍
Rhonda Magee I also notice if you add white with any color it makes it more opaque, I know no one asked me but just wanted to help you out with what I know 😂 lol
Glad that I subscribed to your channel, Marty. Thanks for such a thorough review of products.
Thank you Sherri, I really appreciate it. Welcome to the channel.
Hi Marty! These really were popping off the page. Beautiful colours, I'll have to see if they're available around here and keep an eye out for them next time I'm looking for a colour (or new set that accidentally slips into my online cart)🤪
I love writing with fountain pens, do you know if those ones have really firm nibs or do they have some pressure sensitivity? I have been looking for some that have a bit of pressure sensitivity and so many of them are so firm!
Good to see you back so soon, hope you're getting a chance to do some art amidst all of this, be well. :)
Hi Annie - So good to hear from you! Yes, I know exactly what you mean about things slipping into the cart, heheheheh.
These Keweco fountain pens don't have especially sensitive nibs, they are kinda firm actually, but not overly so. Sorry I can't be clearer. They are just sort of flexible. I like them just the same because the work great and the ink flows nicely. Price point isn't bad either.
Thanks for the note Annie. Hope you are taking care of yourself.
@@owingsart thanks Marty, I know what you mean about the pen nibs. It sounds like I'd like them as pens anyways from what you said (fountain pens are one of my many weaknesses) I have just been in search of a slightly more flexible one and thought if these were like that I might hurry up and see about getting one a bit sooner (& not buy anymore that were much firmer than I hoped for- I can't get some of the brands I used to like for this here anymore, or that I know would have more give in them from seeing other reviews and usage online.)
Thanks for the info on the pens, and also the paint (your channel is bad for my wallet, but...good for looking forward to trying more things so it balances out. :)
Have a good one!
Nice review / video Marty !! I use a smattering of Holbein {e.g. burnt sienna} w.c.'s
Burnt Sienna is very nice.
Please stay safe Marty.
Doing my best John. On lockdown here in Minnesota so it's not too bad. More time for making art videos. :-)
Marty!!!!!!
:-) How's school teaching in the remote learning era???
Hi there! Have you heard of a color they have called Peach Black? It’s kind of an unusual color , A little hard to find… Was wondering what your take on it was if you have ever seen it?
Where did you purchase this dot card from?
Wet Paint Art.
Holbein is affordable here in the 🇵🇭. I got a 5ml tube for 3 usd (150php).
Lucky.
