  • Tony Kidd of Kidd Innovative Design, describes and installs the KIDD .22lr Bolt Buffer as an upgrade addition to the 10/22® or Ruger® 10/22®. For purchase of this product:
    www.coolguyguns.com/KIDD-22LR-...
The KIDD Bolt Buffer is an aftermarket replacement for the bolt stop pin. The function of this pin is to stop the rearward blow back recoil of the bolt. But with the bolt stop pin installed the shooter hears a metal on metal "clack" as the bolt hits the bolt stop pin. With the KIDD improvement installed the "clack" is eliminated. This decreases the felt vibration of the shooter and makes for an overall more pleasant experience. To install our two piece assembly first from the inside of the receiver push the tubing into the left and right side receiver holes. Then simply slide the pin through the center starting from either side.

I put one of these in my rifle and it does seem to make the action much softer (good thing). I have a couple of 10/22s and doing a side-by-side comparison hand racking the action, there is a huge difference in impact sound coming from the bolt hitting the stop. I also got a trigger from Tony and it is really crisp and consistent.

I'm surprised you didn't note the greatest benefit of this padded bolt buffer. The 10/22 receiver is aluminum and if you shoot CCI Stinger or other high velocity / energy .22lr the repeated high impact on the stock steel bolt buffer pin can actually egg out the buffer pin hole in the soft aluminum receiver.
By adding the Kidd padded buffer sleeve and pin you completely eliminate the risk of egging out the receiver and can then shoot high velocity .22lr with piece of mind you have 0 chance of ruining the receiver .

I bought your auto bolt release and it works wonders. Thanks

The steel core allows the buffer to be made of a softer more shock absorbant material. The urethane type buffers must be much harder to retain their shape. These cause much more vibration and they tend to break and leave deposits in your rifle.

Added one to mine. Had to trim a little rubber off, but no big deal. A little tighter fit than in the video, but again no big deal. Big difference even compared to a urethane one, which aren't bad. Love it! I'd also recommend the Kidd stainless mag plunger and stiffer spring. Money well spent. Thanks Tony!

Wish it would be easier to get your products here in Finland. They are sold in out neighbor Sweden but I guess here you cannot get them.

Should have read his comments instead of watching the video. Comment say to install from inside. Push on end through then go to other side a push that through… follow with steel pin. I tried to push it through completely from one side in the video and it’s a nightmare to get through. It doesn’t fit my receive the way it does his demo. Way to tight to push through even after I added a little lube to the end. Next time I’ll try his comments way, seems like that might be a better technique for tight receiver holes.
