I am 71 and remember my grandmother having 3 huge pecan trees in her backyard in Baton Rouge. We enjoyed picking them up and shelling the old fashion way. Two pecans in your hand and crack one against the other. Great memories.

Beautiful property with all the trees lined up. Harvesting machinery has always fascinated me. Thanks for sharing. We need that tree shaker thing for bad co- anglers.

I grew up farming peanuts. We had a pecan orchard my grandad harvested by hand. I always wondered how a pecan harvester worked. Thanks for the video!

That is a really cool process! Previously I had only seen the cherry process because when I was driving a tow truck they used to get the "shaker" stuck in the field and if their tractor couldn't get it out, I'd get the call!

Looks like a lot of work but if you enjoy it not really work at all, i remember you saying that a few years ago when you work pecan you think about fishing and fishing you think about pecans, pretty cool God bless. 🙏

Very cool I would like to see some more videos of the farm. Did you start this as a first generation farm? I have always wanted to plant a few pecan trees on my place but haven’t had the chance to get it all figured out yet.

Edwin, thanks for sharing how you harvest your pecans. Is pawnee your only kind of pecans or do you have other varieties? Which is your favorite variety if you have others? 🎣🐟🦌🦃

You need to get out there with the Nut Wizard and gather them like I do. You’ve got a lot more then me. I’m working with 97 trees.

My dad owned a 200 acre pecan farm, he got pancreatic cancer and didn't tell me. His accountant and attorney changed his will 27 days before he died. We lost our family farm that was in the family for over 100 years. Don't trust that your assets will be going to your children, you need to make sure you discuss the succession plan and give all your beneficiaries a heads up on what to expect. The only people who win in estate issues are the lawyers.
