The song is about loss. Juan Gabriel write it for his mother and Rocio Durcal (another singer) sang it when her son died. Both sing it beautifully.
Rocio never lost any children, and neither he wrote this song about his mother. That´s something his tvseries made up. In this concert he added the "mamá" line but it means that at that moment he dedicated the song to his mom, but it wasn´t initially written about her. I saw an interview where he said it´s by inspired someone elses story and it was meant to be sung by Rocio.
