👨🏽🦲ABOUT ME
It's your man, Jeff Thornton, and I'm ready to take you on a journey through my life!
I was born on Holloman Air Force Base, NM, and raised in the beautiful city of Alamogordo, NM.
Growing up as the youngest of six kids, you'd think I'd have it easy, right?
WRONG.
My siblings were always keeping me on my toes, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
Family has always been my number one priority, and I owe that to my parents, Captain Robert and Dina Thornton, for instilling those values in me from a young age.
Now, let's talk about my love for sports.
From football to hockey, I've always been a natural athlete.
I was even the “Team Captain” for my high school football team, which I'm still proud of to this day.
But let's be real, sports are great and all, but nothing compares to the rush of being transported to a whole new world through video games.
When I was three years old, my sisters and I decided to be helpful and clean our brothers' Nintendo console.
Sounds like a good idea, right
Well, we used WATER.
Needless to say, we destroyed the whole thing.
But that moment taught me something invaluable - gaming is more than just playing a game, it's about bonding with your loved ones over a shared experience.
Video games have been a constant throughout my life, bringing my family together and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
And that's why I'm still a gamer to this day.
It's not just about playing a character in a digital world, it's about the relationships and the community that gaming creates.
So, to all the gamers out there, let's embrace our inner nerd and never let go of that youthful spirit that makes us who we are.
Thanks for tuning in, and much love to you!

🎮 "You're In Control"
My Dad flew to France to watch this game and in his 40+ years of watching rugby live or on tv , He said that this was the greatest game that he has ever watched , apparently the stadium was so loud that his head was still buzzing when he returned to his hotel
That's awesome!! I know that's a game that will be a lifelong memory for sure!
@@QSNgg its not the haka, every poly and melanesian has a war dance, the NZ is called the haka, the fijian war dance is called THE Cibi
@@QSNgg Any of the Melanesian and polynesian peoples are the finest of athletes when it comes to running rugby, they are genetically perfict for carrying ball, open running rugby and tackling, all though they do struggle with the organisation needed for a top flight set piece. however an interesting note on how the game of rugby started in fiji, it very nearly didn't. It was first introduced by white english settlers, ex army. they introduced the game to the locals. Everything went to plan for the first few games, however once the locals learnt the rules the "primative black people started smashing their White betters". So much so that the English banned it for many years, talk about bad loosers. But the seed was planted, there was no way the fijians were ever going to not play they game that they were absolutely built for.
Welsh here - have to say this really was a brutal match Fiji are full of huge fast guys and they brought the intensity in spades just great to watch (not at the time) Wales stood up and took it like warriors and gave some back and it was enough to take the win. Edge of seat game , respect to Fiji they always entertain
That match looked incredible! Wales definitely fought tooth n nail with Fiji. I love how they left it all on the pitch. I could see these men were completely exhausted by match end. It had to be beautiful and exciting to watch
you can say that again, I was sweating it
Butt I was sweating my bits off, but what a game it was between two proper rugby teams damn when we won I had to have a beer to the Fijians!
the tape around the players head is to stop cauliflower ears which you can get from rubbing your ears against things in scrums
Nothing stops cauliflower ears.
@@brucefale6132maybe stop is a bit strong, prevent is more applicable
@@xeno9671 same thing. Props, locks, No 8 and flankers that tape still get cauliflower ears. It doesn't make one bit of difference if you're taped or not.
Friction causes the cauliflower ears. It doesn't matter if your ears are rubbing against bare thighs or tape.
@@brucefale6132 then what's the point then
@@xeno9671 personal preference, habit or a number of other personal reasons that only the players themselves can tell you. The same reason why some players wear head gear.
I've seen ignorant comments like head gear are to protect the ears in scrums...lol...If that was the case why do backs wear them or why don't all forwards wear them.
It all simply comes down to what a player fells comfortable wearing during a match.
A lot of players wrap bandage then electrical tape to keep it on around their head normally to stop cauliflower ears or if they are prone to eyebrow splits
Thanks so much for letting me know. I appreciate you 🙌🏽 That makes a lot of sense
Fiji are everyone’s second favourite team, because of the free flowing way they play the game. Kids in the villages there play rugby bare foot, with a plastic bottle filled with sand for a ball. Their 7s side is legendary, and their 15s team has improved a lot, despite having limited financial resources and a dodgy Fijian government involved in its management.
For many of the Pacific Island nations Rugby is among their most important economic exports. The money their players earn in France/Japan etc. often supports whole villages back home.
A lot of players for the biggest rugby nations have Pacific Island heritage. Their naturally powerful genetics combined with their strong rugby culture help them dominate the sport.
Not everyone's dude
@@brucefale6132 I’ve never met a rugby fan who doesn’t like Fiji
@@willsonj I didn't say I didn't like them.
All I said was they are not everyone's second favorite team.
You don't speak for everyone right?
Yeah what I've seen of Fiji is really impressive. They look like a gritty team with a lot of tenacity. I'll definitely follow them in 15s and 7s
It was just a general statement. So don't take it to heart if it doesn't apply to you❤@@brucefale6132
I'm Welsh, and Fiji were unbelievably unfortunate not to win that, Wales had a few dubious calls go in their favour. Hell of a game though.
Congrats on the win Neilson! That game looked incredible!! I know the team made you and Wales proud! They played tough from what I saw here
The 'Haka' is only performed by teams representing New Zealand. The Fijian war dance is the 'Cibi' and the Samoan war dance is the 'Siva Tau' 👍.
Thanks so much for letting me know the proper names for all the war dances! I appreciate you! 🙌🏽
you beat me to it.🤣
Wales won. Fiji heroically fought their way back into the game but lost it with that fumble at the end of the video. Saw it live (not in person unfortunately) and I was gutted for Fiji at the end.
Fair play to Wales, nobody expected much from them in the world cup but they deservedly won what turned out to be a very competitive group and almost made a semi final. Easy to dismiss by pointing at the draw, but it's more than can be said for Australia or Japan who also had the benefit of the "easy draw"
(in simple terms, none of the top 5 ranked teams in the world cup started on their side of the bracket. There was no way for Wales, Fiji, Australia, England, Argentina or Japan to run into a top 5 team before the semi-final. The seeding was based on 2019 rankings I think, which is farther out from a world cup than they usually do it. Something to do with covid. A lot changed in that time)
That's cool that you watched the live broadcast. That match looked like it was action packed. I'll definitely check out the full game
Also thanks for the background on Wales and the other teams involved. I love learning the story behind the game. Thanks so much! I really appreciate you 🙌🏽
New Zealand & Fiji will be playing at the Snapdragon stadium in San Diego in July this year! That’ll be great for your first experience.
Thanks so much for letting me know! I appreciate you! I'll make the trip to San Diego to check it out 🙌🏽
That will be an awesome first experience for sure!
Guaranteed huge hits. It will be bananas.
Just a reminder. The Flying Fijian"s is playing the New Zealand All Blacks at the end of this week there in San Diego . Quaranteed big hits to fly both ways. My fellow country man from Fiji won't back down, that's for sure. Would be great to get your reaction during or post match if you are going to watch the game. Toso Viti Toso (Go Fiji Go)
I was at this game, the last 12 minutes in that stadium felt like an eternity.
Wales made 252 tackles this match, a Rugby World Cup Record. Will Rowlands, Wales no.4, made 27 tackles and missed none. An incredible performance by a team many had counted out before the tournament
That's awesome you experienced this match live! That's going to be a lifelong memory. I can only imagine the last 12 minutes were nail biting.
Thanks for the tackling stats too! I love knowing that
Will Rolands got 26 tackles and 1 hightackle that the officials never tolerated
@10:26 when he dropped the ball it could have potentially been a game winner. At the 67th minute it was 32-14 to wales and everyone had written off Fiji but they scored another couple of tries to bring it to 32-26, if he had caught that ball(and scored) it would have been 32-31 with the kick to win for Fiji, was a class game but was so tense towards the end. My heart was beating out my chest with the pressure
That game looked very tense! I can only imagine how you felt watching those final minutes of the game. Those are the best matched to experience. It makes you feel alive!
I had no nails left on my fingers after the game.
I bet! 🤣
Proud of Wales. Fiji brought it all that day, power, size, speed, skill, great pack. Nick Tomkins (a small guy in rugby terms) should have been given a medal the way he just absorbed massive hits for his team and to give chances to the man outside him, by miraculously getting passes away during them.
Wales definitely left it all out there from what I was seeing. A beautiful performance by both sides. I'm going to watch the full match to experience it
this match was the day before my b-day and as a welsh person I can say this match was BRUTAL!
That had to be an incredible and memorable birthday! This match was so fun to watch. I wished I saw it live
A professional career is about 12-15 years finishing about mid 30s. The head covering is a scrum cap to protect the ears. NFL players might well cope with the physicality, but the biggest shock might be trying to play 40 minutes a half with no time outs and stopping only for infringements, injuries or the ball out of the playing area.
The explosiveness that they have in NFL will definitely disappear playing non-stop
@@johnskiezzz9082 that’s an interesting conundrum. NFL appears to be based on explosive plays etc, however there is explosiveness in rugby, but they are part of the whole mix rather than the central core thrust. So whilst I agree that non stop would affect the style, explosiveness can be found in rugby.
Mid-30s is a pretty long career! Thanks for letting me know about the scrum caps as well. That makes a lot of sense
This was a hugely important game in the World Cup Pools. There were three potential teams expected to exit with only 2 spots, so it was expected that the winner of this game would progress to the knockouts (spoiler: Wales and Fiji both progressed to the knockouts). Let us know if you make it out to Europe, we'll sort some tickets to the 6 Nations!
That's so awesome to know! These matches looked amazing. I'll definitely let you know when I come to Europe. That's going to be a lot of fun 🙌🏽
Watch France vs SA world cup quarter final probably the best game of rugby in the world cup and equally physical.
I will for sure! Thanks for letting me know 🙌🏽
If you want drama, I would suggest you watch the Wales v Scotland 2024 Six Nations match that played last week. I haven't been sober since.
Yes 100% !! I watched it live last week and it was incredible! Wales fought back in the 2nd half. It was a lot of fun to watch! Both teams deserve a standing ovation for a brilliant contest
the tape stops ears getting ripped off
Thanks so much for letting me know! I appreciate you!

There will be a international rugby test between All Blacks(NZ) and Flying Fijians(Fiji) in San Diego at date of July 19th this year.
Thanks so much for letting me know! I appreciate you! I'll make the trip to San Diego to check it out 🙌🏽
If you want to go to the game with the best atmosphere you need to go to Wales v England six nations at the principality stadium 👍😉🏴
That would be awesome to experience!! I hope to go next year for 6N 2025! 🙌🏽
@@QSNgg Yes dude, best bring your drinking legs, and not your native ones, but ones that can handle propper beer
@@QSNgg If you are going to come, then we need to talk tickets. 1, most tickets are allocated through the rugby clubs. all levels from the lowest leagues to the highest, unless you know someone in a club idealy that of the host nation of the match as they have a larger allocation then you wont get hold of them. 2 All matches with the exception of those involving Italy will sell out in advance, well in advance, so buy early, follow the relavent rugby nations web pages and the six nations web page for release dates. 3, you cna get lucky, these are sporting events heled in big stadiums so occasionally people have to cancel at short notice, so tickets do come up for sale, good people will sell them at face value, for wales expect to pay between £40 and £120, broadly similar for the other celtic nations but more for twickenham. but if you need to tout a ticket on the day, its name your price, Ive known of tickets going on the day for £500+ I'll give you some advice on the melenium stadium, its not for me to talk about others national stadiums. 75,000 seets aranged in 3 levels lower middle and upper. the stadium is incredibly steep so even those furthest away from the pitch are still relatively close to the pitch. any seat in L7,8,10,11, and L28,29,30,31 and 32, will see you very close to the touch line and inbetween both 22s, so lost of action, and if your are in the front rows, basically you can reach out and touch the players, but pls dont try, but you are at ground level here so action is more intence and viseral, but you dont have such a good overview of the whole match. If the bigger picture and following the whole flow of the game is what you want, then aim for the front most seets of the middle level, that corresponds to the lowers sections ive mentioned, the numberinbg is the same. also do look at the seeting plan of the stadiums. Getting to Cardiff is east, take the train, Cardiff central station is within 5 minutes walk 10 on a busy day from the stadium, and if you are thinking of staying overnight in a cardiff hotel, good luck with that one. And no match day experience in cardiff is complete without having a pre match drink in a pub called the city arms. Its a rule, and you must not break it, besides its on your way from the station to the stadium. Wales is a nation of 3 million people Cardiff the capitat has around 350,000 population, however on match day, expect the number of people to double, so it will be very crouded for many streets around the stadium that is actually right in the city center, it is unique in the respect that all of the other stadiums are located out of there respective centers. hope to see you there, hope this has been helpful
What you called the haka at the beginning is actually called the cibi. Only the all blacks do the haka
Thanks so much for letting me know the proper name Cibi! I appreciate you!
It was vicious! Makes me proud to be Welsh, Cymru am byth! 🏴
Congrats to Wales! You played an incredible and tough match! I'm going to watch the full game
Dude July 19th 2024 this year, one of if not the most brutal rugby test match of 2024 will take place in USA soil. Fiji vs the all blacks in snapdragon stadium in sandiego. So if you wanna watch test rugby? Thats it mark the date and book your ticket 😁
100% going to that match Zon! It should be incredible!
We watched it live it was brutal just brutal. It’s Like watching the movie Gladiator movie 🍿
100% !! That's incredible you saw it live! That's a lifelong memory right there!
If you are Fijan, my appologies, you were robbed by bad decisions. I know how much the sport means to us here in Wales, I'm sure it will be no less to the people of Fiji. my comiserations.
This game had the most tackles in RWC history l.
Wales made 253 tackles, absolutely incredible while Fiji only made 70 which just shows how many waves of attack Fiji threw at Wales
That's insane!!! Thanks for letting me know that fact. That game was tough! I just watched it 2 nights ago
The tape is used by some guys who might get their ears damaged in the scrum. A lot of old rugby players have 'cauliflower ears'. (And a lot of accumulated concussion).
Thanks for letting me know that I really appreciate you
I'm Welsh, but love Fiji .but the RWC are more concerned with protecting big 4 mainly big 8 then leaving others in the s**t . Fiji , Samoa Tonga do some damage haha
That makes a lot of sense. The Polynesian countries are definitely tough and physical! Wales stood up to the test and fought tooth n' nail without backing down from what I saw
I'm going to watch the full match. I love how gritty both teams are
money power and influence, it doesnt do the game any favours, but if you are at the top table, its a cosey club that you wont lett any others in, frankly it makes me sick
“rugby players don’t have a name on the back of the jersey because it is impossible to fit everyones name on the back because we play for everyone”
-My Coach( Coach Pienaar)
I love that quote!
got to remember numbers 9 to 15 are far smaller in sz and weight than 1 to 8 . .9 and 10 usually smallest ...BUT Fiji are all mammoth
You're 100% right! Fiji do have some mammoths for sure!!
Technically fijians arent Polynesian, they are Melanesian Along with countries like Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, some part of Indonesia and some other places. They are an interesting race as they look african but are actually closer to being asian.
Thanks so much for letting me know the correct term Melanesian and the insight!
I really appreciate you. That's very helpful 🙌🏽
shame Wales had everyone retire from international rugby at the same time , and WRU take central contracts from mens game to give to womens game , this is where 25 cap rules is a joke , they have to move to england etc to earn money , but unable to play for wales if under 25 caps , WRU crazy
You're spot on about that Darren. Wales is in a bit of a crisis right now and I hope they can pull it together. They have a lot of young and very talented players. I hope to see them return to glory
Wales won the game In last clip where Zammit kicked it out that was during the red zone
Thanks for letting me know that George!
The black tape is to hold the wrap on his for head
Fijian rubgy is great

Much love Munish! I love Fijian rugby
Fairplay you've really dug into rugby if you want to see brutal with any luck Wales v England should be up there Saturday afternoon UK time
Thanks so much Richard I really appreciate you! Wales v England was a good match
Hi ,
Great to see you enjoying and appreciating rugby.
I am from England and I love our home stadium Twickenham (HQ) but for atmosphere I love going to the Welsh Principality stadium the Welsh can sing also going to the Stade de France stadium when the French get behind i the team it is electric.
Ireland and Scotland is always good during the game and after in the bars.
Loftus verdfeld and Ellis Park in South Africa look like they have a good atmospheres.Ellis Park in NZ looks intimidating with a see of black shirted supporters and they have an amazing record at home.
Hey Skep! Thanks so much for checking out my video and the kind words. I appreciate you 🙌🏽
Twickenham sounds like an incredible atmosphere. And from what I've heard a very tough stadium to play in if you're the away team. All of the stadiums you've mentioned sound amazing!
I hope to get to experience them live!
As an English man you are duty bound to say so about Twickers, but as a welsh man, I can stand the atadium, to many drunk rich people, and for its size it lacks atmosphere, id take any of the other home nations stadiums over twickers. Dont get me wrong, there is little to compare to a home match against england, but when the irish are in town you best have a week off work to recover.
TAPE is to hold your BRAIN in.
100% 🤣
You should check out some of the classic games from the 1970s era , it was a much more brutal game then with players rucked off the ball if they happened to get on the wrong side of the ball.
Today's game us pretty take compared to that era
I'll definitely take a look at the 70s era. Thanks for letting me know Dale.
It sounds very similar to the evolution of American football. It used to be more hardcore and unforgiving compared to now-a-day
Really interesting how that mindset evolved

You should definitely be proud of your men! They represented Fiji incredibly well and I absolutely LOVE your team + nation!
Such a tough, athletic and talented team 🙌🏽
The tape on the head is mostly done by the forwards ..to protect the ears during scrum..
Thanks for letting me know this Moriti!
We're taught in rugby getting ur head in front of the body is poor tackle technique as it can lead to concussion and I've seen it they can be pretty nasty
Thanks for letting me know that. I love hearing the difference in the tackling technique. That makes a lot of sense though for sure
The tape is to stop cauliflower ears
Thanks for letting me know that Tom! I appreciate you 🙌🏽
Tape/bandage around the head prevents something called "Caulifower Ear" (inflamation of the cartlidge in the ear) caused by such things liked heads rubbing together in the scrum... Its mainly forwards you'll see come out like this (props for example) as they are more prone to cauliflower ear than most. Another great video! 👍

@@QSNgg high tackles, no arms tackle on Tuisova by 7&8, just wish Fiji stop playing rugby and just do something else with this kind of bias officials. Too many penalties that officials turning a blind eye on them. Just a disgrace. small correction: in rugby, the Pacific teams plus NZ do the war-cry. For NZ it's called the haka, fir Fiji it's known as the Cibi. That's pronounced Thee-m'bee
Thanks so much for the correction Jay. I appreciate you! I'll remember that and get it right from now on 🙌🏽
Last world cup Fiji had some of the most entertaining matches for sure
That's what I've been hearing! I'm going to have to check out all the world cup matches
also wales won the game
Good on Wales! I'm going to have to watch the full game
Bro go see FIJIAN DRUA
Yeah Fijian Drua is incredible! I'll watch them more
Thanks for the video
You're welcome Grace! Thank you for watching my video 🙌🏽
So lots of Pacific teams have their own version of a 'Haka'. While a haka is a type of war dance, the 'Haka' is the New Zealand version and there are many different ones, all of which tell their own story. The New Zealand haka is based in Maori which is the old tribal language of the country. However, other nations such as Fiji and Samoa I believe also use their own hakas with the Fijian one being called a Cibi and Siva Tau being the name of the Samoan one. Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.
Thanks so much for letting me know the proper names of the individual war dances! I appreciate you!
That's the first time I've heard that 🙌🏽
England v New Zealand semi final in 2019 is one of the best games I've seen.
If you want to check any particular players out, Charles piutau, Ellis genge, Antoine Dupont are some brilliant players.
I'll check out England v NZ 2019 as well as all the player you've metioned. Thanks so much for letting me know.
I appreciate you 🙌🏽
Wrap and tape around the head is to stop cauliflower ears and stopping the ears from ‘tearing’ when you stick your head in dark places like scrums, rucks and mauls; the France vs SA World Cup QF game is one that will leave you slack jawed.
Thanks so much for letting me know about the tape/wrap. That makes a lot of sense now.
I'll check out the France v SA World Cup QF game as well. Thanks so much for letting me know 🙌🏽
Hey man. Great video and as always I love the respect and enthusiasm you have for our game.
The head tape is for the forwards who are involved in the scrum, shirt numbers 1-8. It is there to protect from cauliflower ears. It’s not full proof and some guys go for scrum caps. Others don’t bother at all.
I didn’t watch this game live but I viewed it as it aired. This was the 2023 World Cup and it was one of the best games especially in terms of drama.
I will reply to this with a link for the actual highlights very soon. Because the hits of this game don’t do justice to how exciting it was.
History
These two teams, Wales and Fiji, have been drawn into the same World Cup pool four out of the last five tournaments along with Australia. 2007, 2015, 2019 and 2023. Australia and Wales are the two giants who are usually odds on to advance to the knockout stages.
Polynesian teams have been known to cause an upset or two at world cups however. Tonga beat France in 2011 but just missed out on qualifying. Samoa qualified for the quarter final in 1999. More specific to this game Fiji qualified for the knockouts in 2007 at the expense of Wales (I’ll find some highlights for that game too).
Fiji are generally considered to be the best of the Polynesian teams. They play an expansive style of rugby and they hit really hard. Fijian flare in full flight is glorious to watch. Australia have won the World Cup twice, 91 and 99, and Wales under this current coach are always a force.
So with all of that you can imagine that these three nations, Australia, Fiji and Wales fighting for two qualification places is always tense.
This game in 2023 had everything.
Great video. Look forward to the next one.

The head is bandaged with cotton bandages to cover and protect the eyebrows and the ears. Like a scrumcap. The black tape is normal electrical insulation tape, to secure the bandages. There are different colours tape for team preferences.
Thanks for letting me know that Rudolph. I was wondering what that was all about
SA vs NZ in the Rugby Championship on 07 Sep 24 in Cape Town is one worth travelling for; those two teams have the greatest rivalry and are the most successful teams in the history of the game.
I'm marking my calendar for that one now! That will be an incredible game!
This game was the closest thing youl get to a fight to the death in modern rugby , nick Tompkins the number 12 was a hero that day and took soo many big hits, the team in White are Fiji and are an incredible team. you should watch the wales V scotland game in the 1st round of the 6 Nations this year not quite a fight to the death but What a game!!
