8 years later and the 1879 CC is probably at least a $1000 coin. But in reality this coin thing is an unbelievable amount of work. Your dealer is just an expert who makes it look easy.
.there are 2 things i would recommend before going to a dealer..(1) always lookup the value of the coins yourself..never take a dealers word for anything..with the internet nowadays it is easy to find a ton of info on coin prices..especially in the case of the mercury dimes where there could have been a 1916-d which is worth a lot of money..(2) consider an online auction where you can sell retail vs. wholesale which is what most dealers offer..remember these 2 basic tips and as always happy hunting...
The shooting star dime that is in her changes worth $45,000 he slid it across the table like it wasn't nothing you know she has a lot of money there and he knows it
No way can you tell there's a 1916 D in this lot but should have touched on the date of the Mercury Dimes and the Wheat Cents anyway, as far as handling it seemed a bit rough but you could not hurt these coins considering the condition. Trust me, handled coins all my life and I am a full time dealer and some dealers do business like this and handle coins like this. As a matter of fact there's some larger dealers that wouldn't want anything to do with coins this common and in this condition; I have had several customers come into my shop with that story.
funny how he says about the wheat pennies that they are common and he saw nothing there but never looked and mentioned you can see the wheat on the back of the coins which means he never turned them over and it only takes one 1909-S VDB or several other dates to be worth big money. The coin lot also had two 1916-D Mercury dimes worth $4,000 each... well he certainly would not know because again he never checked. I have watched hundreds of these dealers and they would have never separated the Carson City Morgan dollars and would have paid 60% to 75% of spot. Sad this man saved these coins because they were a reflection of his life and important enough for him to keep them all of these years but the daughter sells them for a few dollars how sad. The last coin collection I purchased was taken to 4 different coin dealers and one said $3,500 and the rest were around $6,000 and I happily paid $25,000 and they went back and complained but does no good. Coin shops are thief's about 95% of the time.
I totally agree, its a tragedy that she sold that collection for a quick buck that could have been easily made by spending one day AT WORK. My great uncle was a missionary back in the 60's and when my grandmother, his sister, passed away I got a good handful of old Argentina pesos in varying denominations. I checked the price recently and they're not worth much, not even any silver content by my research, but the sentimental value and the aesthetics is enough to make me hold on to them.
This guy is taking advantage of the young girl. He spoke as if the Morgans were old and made her feel that they were not worth. However each one without me seeing the date knows they are way worth more. The cc's are worth more. He is a wise guy tht God will take care of
+Retro AP It is staged, but I'm sure the dealer isn't slamming the coins down just because it's staged. He does that all the time and it's disrespectful. Part of the reason is that he wants to show the customer that the coins aren't that valuable (he probably learned that from a sales book). But they COULD be valuable. He can't spot all the potential doubled dies and die varieties that quickly.
This is how NOT to sell your coins unless you do not care about getting as much as possible and just want to make a quick buck. Take some time to research what you have, even just by Googling, and you'll learn pretty quickly how much your coins are worth. And always get at least 2 opinions before selling.
People who are not coin collectors don't know or really care about real value, they mostly just want a quick buck if they're not holding onto them for sentimental reasons.
I see dealers like this. " I look at this crap all day long. Even if it's an inheritance and you don't know any better, I'll show you how to treat ol dad's coins like ..."
Those coins came loose in a bag... And there was two valuable ones... Although I did find him scraping them along the table to be annoying. Not because of hurting the coins or anything, it's just fking annoying.
I have several problems with this video. First of all the lady had no respect for what her grandpa had left her, she only wanted the money for it. Secondly, the "coin dealer" doesnt know how to properly handle coins. He zips through most of the silver dollars saying "Common, common, common...." He didn't check any of the steels to see if by chance any of them could be a 1944 steel ( I know VERY unlikely but they do exist) he didnt check one mint mark on the dimes, neither did he check any of them for varieties or errors but I guess he does all that behind closed doors after the sale is made. I'd rather sell coins on Ebay than take them to one of these shady characters.
It drives me nuts watching coins dealers be rough with coins. They should know better... but I quess they get desensitized over the years! I still hate it tho!
The coins are already in very low grades and cleaned so banging them about is not damaging them. They are just silver value no collector value. No collectors would want those coins in that condition anyway. Pile of junk just silver value.
Lots of criticism here. Looks fine to me. These were all common coins except the CC. I agree with everything he said. She found an honest dealer and made a fair deal.
Morgan Dollar 1879 CC at a grade of VF-20 is valued at $335 retail according to the 2020 Red Book. She should have got a second opinion before handing them right over.

Very fair pricing imo. I buy and sell for a living (Not coins) and this is what we call a win-win deal. Never graded any of the silver dollars or merc. dimes. Just told her average circulated silver coins. I'll bet in a week he had most of those graded and placed in his display cabinet for much more than he paid. I realize he has bills to pay but all he has to is have a costumer come in and unknowingly hand him jackpot coin and he wins big time.
I have a 1912 wheat,1928 ,1948 wheat pennies and i have a 1$,5$ notes star too. How much does it worth. I want to sell thems to the auction and getting thems graded too ok thank let me knows sir.
I think it's a sales tactic. He wants to show the customer that the coins aren't THAT valuable. But it's still stupid to damage coins. Even if I'm buying a low-grade coin, I expect it be problem-free.
The first thing I seen os how he took her away from the coins he wanted and he made a price that shes goingnto sell it but he got the big payoff lmao slide of had she totally forgot about it by rh time he looks up the 1896 lmao
Colin M., Of course, they are going to be "ripped off a bit". If a business bought them for the exact price they would not earn any money. Though I do agree, the way he handled those coins drives me nuts!
What a shame. I inherited a small amount of 90% from my grandfather. I would never sell it, unless my kids were going hungry. I've actually added to my holdings over the years, but I always keep grandpa's silver separate from the rest.
New sub - well done, very informative! Looks like you know what you’re doing, I like that. I’ll be looking to see some more videos of yours, good job on this one
Come on! These comments! The coin guy can't buy it at the same price he will resell it for! Dudes got to make a living. If you want full value when you sell your coins, you can't expect to take them to a coin shop for it. You will need to find your own buyer who is investing, not someone wanting to resell as soon as possible.
Look 4 errors on coin stamp and the better condition the more chances on auctions. Theres tons of videos that help u look and explain including auctioning
I agree with the way he treats them coins awful lot of Commons and the foreign coins he gives 350-pound now he's not even checking if they're silver cuz 50/50 there silver
Whatever...... the handful of shops in my area wouldn’t even look at those..... they would just show you the door. They only want to talk to you if you’re buying Bullion.
He is not ripping her off contrary to what some people think. He’s paying her 19 bucks for well circulated Morgan’s and peace dollars. I’m surprised he offered her more then 14 or 15 bucks. He could of hosed her on the Carson City Morgan and he didn’t. My only complaint is how he handled someone else’s coins. Cringe factor of 10
This video is a re-creation. The coins are already his. We made this video to show what to expect. We don't handle common coins with gloves, they've already been handled by hundreds or thousands of people, and they have not been careful with them!
I understand that them coins are circulated. He don't understand that him banging them around is making more damage on them. plus alot of the coins he said had no value really do has a good bit of value to them. he only wants either uncirculated silver or gold coins, or silver and gold coins the he can buy way under melt down prices. I do understand he has to make a little bit of money. He doesn't have to steal people's loved one's old coins that they put up and kept all them years for their children and grandchildren to have. That man don't have to cheat the people that don't understand what the value of them old coin are worth. being truthful at times with people goes alot farther alot of the times
The seller is being truthful. This is a re-creation of a typical sale. The coins already belong to him, and he grabbed a bunch from the inventory to show you what to expect.
Silver is chip and Getting screwed all the time But most people feel they have something Valuable ...LOL Silver won’t go up , ( waist of time and money ) you better off buying( Plumbers Lead Free Solder ) Two years ago each Roll was $15 now it’s $20+ & will reach 30 I have about 25,000 Rolls and it will always go up since demand is Higher then Silver I also have about 65-70 kilos of silver and keep dropping Hell with Silver / Lead Free Solder I love you More

I realize he has bills to pay but all he has to is have a costumer come in and unknowingly hand him jackpot coin and he wins big time.
that was a nice deal for both of them, the seller and the coin&stampshop owner.
I have a lot of these
I have a 1912 wheat,1928 ,1948 wheat pennies and i have a 1$,5$ notes star too. How much does it worth. I want to sell thems to the auction and getting thems graded too ok thank let me knows sir.
Hello, I hope you're well
I have a lot of very oldest coins, and one coin which is Fourteen Hundred and Fifty years old.
Tip for when you check out a customers coins: Handle them gently don't just toss em to the other side of the table
I think it's a sales tactic. He wants to show the customer that the coins aren't THAT valuable. But it's still stupid to damage coins. Even if I'm buying a low-grade coin, I expect it be problem-free.
YOU GOT ROBBED... IT WAS ACTING BUT STILL A ROBBERY
The first thing I seen os how he took her away from the coins he wanted and he made a price that shes goingnto sell it but he got the big payoff lmao slide of had she totally forgot about it by rh time he looks up the 1896 lmao
SEENIT ONTV (

This guy was fair. I dont know what the rest of you guys are talking about. He has serious overhead and still offered fairly.
Morgan Hoard he was rough with the coins and ripped her off a bit
Colin M., Of course, they are going to be "ripped off a bit". If a business bought them for the exact price they would not earn any money. Though I do agree, the way he handled those coins drives me nuts!
War nickels can be worth 4 or five bucks a piece depending on condition and year
What a shame. I inherited a small amount of 90% from my grandfather. I would never sell it, unless my kids were going hungry. I've actually added to my holdings over the years, but I always keep grandpa's silver separate from the rest.
Only worth a few hundred a a anyway
She says thanks grandpa at the end 😂
New sub - well done, very informative! Looks like you know what you’re doing, I like that. I’ll be looking to see some more videos of yours, good job on this one
Thank you! Glad you liked it. We're working on ideas for more.
WHY?! A true coin collector would never handle coins like that...
Sir! can I know your price value of us penny 1943 steal coin during world war, that I know rare and very value coin.
Why would anyone take the first offer from the first person? I don’t get it!
Wow it's really Awesome ♥♥👌👌❤❤❤💙♥♥❤❤😘😘😘😘😘🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏, I like this very much, NICE👍👍👍👍
He got over so bad on the nice lady smh hope see read all the comments smh
Argh! Be careful with the coins
I wish my LCS would move that quick when I am waiting in line nice video
Very nice coins my friend great time👍👍⭐⭐⭐
I agree with the way he treats them coins awful lot of Commons and the foreign coins he gives 350-pound now he's not even checking if they're silver cuz 50/50 there silver
Not 50/50 those coins looked mostly like modern foreign coins
y he got to deal with the coins like that??
Whatever...... the handful of shops in my area wouldn’t even look at those..... they would just show you the door. They only want to talk to you if you’re buying Bullion.
We buy and sell bullion as well, but our focus is on collectible coins.
Was awesome to see old cions
He is only going to basically set them on the scale and give her what they would bring at a pawn shop
This is why I am holding onto my 1944 steal wheat penny that was passed down to me
LOLOLOL riiiiiiight ..... do you got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell ma as well ?
Honestly, I've been collecting for about 6 years now. I wouldnt have sold em all like that
Not take the coins to this guy would be my first guess.......4:06 "There ya go! That's a better coin"...proceeds to slam it down on counter......
I have many rare and valuable coins from my mom collection left for me, but i don't know how to sell
I have a one dollar coin of Abraham Lincoln 1861_1865 Liberty .I want to sell it.pl anyone tell me how to sell it.what is d value today
Seems relatively honest thanks for sharing!
No lol
He is not ripping her off contrary to what some people think. He’s paying her 19 bucks for well circulated Morgan’s and peace dollars. I’m surprised he offered her more then 14 or 15 bucks. He could of hosed her on the Carson City Morgan and he didn’t. My only complaint is how he handled someone else’s coins. Cringe factor of 10
This video is a re-creation. The coins are already his. We made this video to show what to expect. We don't handle common coins with gloves, they've already been handled by hundreds or thousands of people, and they have not been careful with them!
I think he was fair with the prices and cool video.
This is an example of how you sell old coins and get ripped off!
Next, do a video of how to sell a coin collection and get your actual moneys worth.
This is a realistic recreation of a typical sale. But thank you for your comment.
Bruh, I'm with you, btw talking to the person who commented this and the coin dealer itself
I am too far from Florida, but you can see in my canal, my rare quarter dollar 1981 mint error
Thank the gentlemen, then, put those coins back in the bag they came in and do a lil personal research young lady. 🥳🧐
I should go through my old coin collection
Take all them coins to the Antique Roadshow
Do you have any affiliates in the Jacksonville area? I appreciate your video, I got a pretty good collection of silver.
We have only the shop in Tampa.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!! The way he handles those coins is frightening
Hello I have alot of coins if you want to buy them plzz tell me
Lmao ur like yeeting these coins around the table
Are there any videos like this? Besides this one
Silver is chip and Getting screwed all the time But most people feel they have something Valuable ...LOL
Silver won’t go up , ( waist of time and money ) you better off buying( Plumbers Lead Free Solder ) Two years ago each Roll was $15 now it’s $20+ & will reach 30
I have about 25,000 Rolls and it will always go up since demand is Higher then Silver
I also have about 65-70 kilos of silver and keep dropping
Hell with Silver / Lead Free Solder I love you More
Very Nice Coins
He really likes to slam his hand on the table lmao
Wish my gramps left me more only gave me 1 peace dollar and a old 1866 nickel
Lorinda Bourn my dad gave me a 1880s Morgan and 1922p Peace
You sound very thankful...
