  • After spending a week with the refreshed 2019 Honda HR-V Touring, here are things I like and don't like. For the most part, I like this 2019 HRV and love it's practicality..but this one is almost $30k and I'd much rather have a civic hatch or CR-V instead. Regardless of what I want..this could be great for some people. Let me know what you like or don't like about this Honda HR-V 2019 "owner review"!

    Nice review. I've had my 2019 HRV EX -L for just a month now. It has just 7,000 miles. I expected it to have less power than it does have after all the reviews I've seen. I had a Nissan Juke turbo before that flew. Loved it but required premium fuel and I never got more than 26.9 MPG. HRV getting 29.4 MPG without using ECO. I love the styling of it and wanted one since 2016 when they came out. This car has the best radio sound I've ever had in a car. Just my opinion. It's my last vehicle for sure as I was born in the 1950's .lol

    I have the 2019 EX model. I really like the vehicle a lot, but overall, I agree with you on the dislikes. The power issue is a big one. I truly believe that the CVT transmission is a big cause of the power robbing issue. We have 3 Hondas and one of them is an 08 Civic with the same engine but with a traditional automatic transmission. Pick up and speed are much better then the HRV. No carpeting which I found odd, no lock on the glove box and the fan and temp switch should be reversed. Also, no rocker panel covers to keep the paint from getting scuffed and no temp gauge. Other then that, it's a nice ride.

    1. expensive for small SUV

    I just found your review. Several days ago we sold our 2019 HR-V with 18,000 miles. I was sad to let it go as it really grew on me over the years. We hauled tons of stuff across the country, and we used it in town and for short trips. Everything always worked, with the "ECO" mode we got 45 mpg highway. We sold it to a friend, but if you can find one that was well cared for, you might be surprised at how "likeable" it can be.

  • @mikie1466
    @mikie1466 2 года назад +4

    Cons if you are actually wanting to buy one. Suspension is stiff, if you travel bumpy pot hole filled roads you will feel it. Also you cant settle while driving if you're small with no arm rest and too much room to use the window seal so long drives will fatigue your arms more than usual. lastly the gas mileage it advertises is only if you're in economy mode or drive like a grandma. if you ask the car for power it charges you a lot of gas with barely any results.

    You have to try initiating a call about 10 to 15 times for voice command to be understood .
    It doesn't recognize call command . Very frustrating , and could be dangerous . My 2006 after market pioneer system works everything in my 2006 Dodge Charger . This 2019 Hrv voice command is horrible . Anyone else with this problem ??? And I've tried everything

    I'm looking to downsize my lease pmt and vehicle size (currently leasing a crv) so naturally I'm interested in a HRV . It wont be a deal breaker but I'd prefer knobs to adjust fan speed / temp since I live in a cold climate and we're always adjusting heat / fan speed as vehicle warms up . I know its underpowered but I'd rather have the tried and true civic engine in there instead of a direct injection turbo since I'll be using it for practical reasons . Good review -thanks

    And in Asia, some countries had the 1.8L NA engine while the rest had the 1.5L NA engine, if the 1.8L is considered underpowered, I'm not sure about the 1.5L I've sat in many times...

      SilcoSilva Hidayat dang I haven’t driven that 1.5L NA lol. The 1.8 is OK for power but I guess comparing it to competitors...the others are swifter...except the CHR as far as I can remember. • @silcosilva
      @silcosilva 5 лет назад

      @@PrimeAutotainment I see... I'm only a passenger, and when I sat in one like when in the past in an Uber and now the other private hire operators as Uber has ceased here, it seems the drivers didn't complain much though I notice many tend to slam their foot hard to accelerate at traffic junctions, merge into expressways or overtake... Some had nasty gearbox probably due to poor maintenance as these rental cars are usually whacked hard that when I sit as a front passenger I felt like the gearbox is gonna break and snap (maybe this is what many call the rubber band effect) into the cabin...
      But oh yeah, I forgot to mention, we also now have a 1.5L hybrid variant of the HR-V... Supposed to be more fuel efficient, but the engine stop start function can be a nuisance and I spoke to some friendly drivers and non had mentioned any difference in the fuel economy part, maybe the hybrid is inefficient or the drivers' driving pattern plays a part...
      The Toyota CH-R on the other hand is available only as a 1.8L hybrid from where I am, and some 1.2L turbo are parallel imported in... Not as popular as the HR-V, and I've sat on several occasion in the rear and it feels like a third row in a compact MPV...

    This is a cheap economy car. You couldn't expect power or great sound system. I personally preferred a CRV.

    Lane watch is better than radar blind spot monitoring. You can see the hazard with your own eyes…
    Honda got rid of that feature and it’s your fault

      Lol they didn’t get rid of it because of me, they got rid of it because customers complained about it. That’s what they said.
      Lane watch is only one sided and is only applicable when you’re actually using your signal, not before. Actual blind spot monitors let you know someone is there before attempting to signal.
      Hyundai/Kia have the best system...they have a lane camera AND radar blind spot monitoring. Honda should have done that since they had the camera first

      @@PrimeAutotainment Hyundai and Kia engines also make pretty good bonfires, even during day time, definitely recommend if you want to cook up some bbq with your fam 😉🔥🔥 It’s sad Hondas never had that feature though lol

    You don't like Lack of power: You trade power for 200+ thousand miles of reliability. You don't like the lack of a blind-spot monitor: You must go the old fashion way, ..turn your head. The other dislikes are justified.

      Vehicles with more power can get better efficiency and still last over 200k miles. Perfect example is RAV4. It’s bigger, more powerful, and can still get 35 mpg hwy. I complain about blind spot because the current camera is more distracting than anything and literally every other car offers regular blind spot indicators. But yes, I always look anyways and don’t trust those lol
