Amber showed lots of courage and didnt give up , even willing to try again another day . Awesome . Sometimes I think its easier to put the truck in gear when the brake is not depressed.
My wife's water broke at 24 weeks. We went to the hospital and they admitted her. She lasted for 4 weeks to 28 weeks and then we ended up having a 2lb 4 oz son. He was in the NICU for 5 months. He came home on a monitor and now he's three and a half years old and he has no issues no learning disabilities, no breathing issues and no mental developmental problems.. he's perfect.. just a little small. He weighs 28lbs at 3.5 years. Blonde curly long hair blue eyes and 2 huge dimples !! Hes an angel! Congrats on #2!!
Bruce while you drive have Amber put her hand on top of yours while you shift..she'll get the feel for the gears..the clutch though she'll just have to grind a few more pounds before she gets it lol
Well you are off to a great start Amber, you didnt cry, he didnt yell and you didnt give up in a fit of rage!!! LOL You are miles ahead of most couples that would try this. I hope you keep trying and learn to drive that if thats what you want to do.
YEESSS!!!💕💕 I love it. You did awesome for a first timer! I totally did the same my first time. The third day I got the hang of not grinding my gears. The 5th day I was a champ my grandpa said haha. Great job girl 💕💕 your such a good man Bruce for having patience 😁 congrats on the baby aswell 😁💕💕
My uncle let me drive his Frieghtliner down a back road, for their size a semi is surprisingly easy to drive. Of course the trailer adds the most difficulty. Being geared so low, you don't have to worry about stalling the engine like with a gas burner. Amber should keep practicing, ya'll could be a husband/wife team. 🚛
Hey Bruce this was good. I'm a CDL instructor and I do this every day. So I feel your pain, when you said "hold your brakes where still rolling" or "let not steer into the tree..." I love it you taught her how to float right off the bat. I wish I could get away with that. And in the beginning when you talked about still learning a 18 speed you right newer is better. I can drive 7 different transmissions in a rig and not one shifts the same or acts the same, some prefer high RPMs some are lower RPMs But anyways great video...
Easiest way to teach someone to drive semi and a plus if it’s a 18 speed, just run through the gears in high on your selector and no point in starting in low range it’s to low, just start them out in first and selector in high makes it easier to understand and doesn’t mess them up cause then it’s like shifting a a normal vehicle! then it’s just getting them used to using rpms to shift at the right time! And if your doing a t bar highly recommend flipping it upside down! Way less chance of it getting bottomed out and getting bent or ripping off! Most guys up here in Alberta that have them that run infield oil do it like that and never break or bend them!!
Just a Suggestion Bruce. When switching gears with no clutch Rev the motor up till you feel the gear shift almost like it wants to move. Move out over and then let off the throttle just a touch and it will go right into the next gear. The Rubber Duck from Lima, Ohio checkin in!!! Amber did 👍 👌 👍
Dude you have bigger balls than me letting her drive that new 389. Warranty want cover that lol. Glad to see you back out on the road bud. See you around the fuel island. Good looking truck.
Best tip for having her learn to drive is shut the engine brake off she’ll be able to shift much better since if the Jake catches before you get out of gear it pulls the RPMs down too fast and gets you all out of synch
So happy you back Bruce use to love watching your video buzzing your back and doing them keep up the good work bro saying hello and your side here in the uk a place called wales Cardiff
Bruce, I would have said something about how you zoomed in on Amber's chest in the truck but I don't want to get slapped. LOL - Love the new direction on the channel good to see Bruce 2.0
When my wife Jessie wanted to start getting her CDL I had her learning to drive in a daycab and drive around a field and get the feeling of it. And she got the hang of it and she studied the test and passed both quick. We both like the 10 speed better. Cause ,18 speeds. Ur always shifting like each second and Jessie liked the 10:speed in one of the daycabs that due was driving locally around town. So I had the mechanics install a brand new 10 speed transmission.
That’s pretty cool Bruce hobbie shop I have my Traxxas slash I got that baby going up to about 45-ish Trying to hit 60 it catches air I jump it and roll it it takes a beating and keeps gone love it
You are so right about that road, usually there is nobody barely on it.... until you turn on the camera and commence learning skills! Don't dare stop to piss there either, a marching band will miraculously show up before you fish it out of your pants...
Love the fact that you chose a good dirt road to let her drive while she is riding shotgun let her help you with the shifting it can build confidence in her and she will be great though repetition
let me give you some advice Bruce on an 18 as much weight as you haul all you need to do is shift it like an 8 an split the top gear i used to do it all the time itll be fine an btw its a low rpm engine so 16 an 12 to 13 00an congratz on the babys
Porter greetings!🤩 You didn’t ask her if her knees were shaking afterwards.🧐 I bet she did have fun though. Nothing like having that experience of driving down a dirt road when you’re learning to drive a big rig. It’s safer than the highway. At first, I didn’t think having a trailer behind you a good thing, but it just might help her a bit more. Worth trying.🧐 Be sure to help her shifting gears until she’s ready for it. Good stuff! 🥰🇺🇸✌️
SO how does the truck licence work in U.S.A ? here in the uk we can drive UP TO 7.5 tonnes on a regular car licence. then the next size up is a class 2 licence which allows you to drive up to (i think) about 20 tonnes. and then the class 1 licence allows us to drive up to but no MORE 44 tonnes WHICH IS SIMILAR to your peterbilt lorry and trailer, but there are strict tests you have to take to drive anything above 7.5 tonnes, is it the same across the pond ?
It’s amazing how different your trucks compared to what we have in the uk, our trucks are a lot more modern looking, and I haven’t seen a manual gear box in years, I’d love to drive one of yours to see how they compare,
That’s awesome it’s just a crying shame that she can no longer go get her CDL learners permit and you train her to drive truck the right way good man keep it up we need more good drivers out there today
Better than my first time I feel so definitely took me a good three day to get the hang of it lol 12 years later of shifting nothing like going through the gears ⚙️ She did good 👍
I give her a lot of credit for trying. Most women won't even try it.
yeah...my wife won't drive my pickup
Not true. Not all trades are for everyone. Like cake design. If she can double-clutch, she can shift
If the RPMs are right, there is no grinding - it sucks the stick into place. No grinding, new or old trans.
Amber showed lots of courage and didnt give up , even willing to try again another day . Awesome . Sometimes I think its easier to put the truck in gear when the brake is not depressed.
Depends what gear
Thanks for being a great camera man Bruce
Beautiful truck, beautiful wife, kids, plane, your own business, killing it since your return. So happy for you dude....keep smashing all them goals.
She's hard on the stick Bruce! #Marriagematerial

Hey Bruce this was good. I'm a CDL instructor and I do this every day.

Bruce she will get better at time she'll be at your level or higher glad to see someone teaching somebody
Amber did 👍 👌 👍
That’s how it always is, a dead street when you’re driving thru but when you wanna practice it’s the busiest street ever.
That's cool to have your wife learning to drive so y'all can run together!!! Tell her if you can't find it grind it🤣🤣🤣! Be safe and God Bless!!!
Work on yard we say grind it till you find it
You realize that saying was made up by a guy that fixes transmissions for a living. Lol.
You did awesome for the first time, you will get the hang of it, and congratulations on being pregnant.
Dude you have bigger balls than me letting her drive that new 389. Warranty want cover that lol. Glad to see you back out on the road bud. See you around the fuel island. Good looking truck.
Love The 389 Peterbilt with the blue and good job Amber for doing not that bad of a job shifting.
I learned to drive on a 76 Chevy pick up in a field with my dad yelling instructions from the porch. PUSH IN THE CLUTCH, SHIFT, GIVE IT GAS!.....
Best tip for having her learn to drive is shut the engine brake off she’ll be able to shift much better since if the Jake catches before you get out of gear it pulls the RPMs down too fast and gets you all out of synch
Amber, you got this young lady!
So happy you back Bruce use to love watching your video buzzing your back and doing them keep up the good work bro saying hello and your side here in the uk a place called wales Cardiff

You are so right about that road, usually there is nobody barely on it.... until you turn on the camera and commence learning skills! Don't dare stop to piss there either, a marching band will miraculously show up before you fish it out of your pants...

Its one way to get the gear rounded off!!! Lol 😆 🤣 Not bad for the first time! Be safe 🙏 ❤
I see Eaton-Fuller's response on this one is way better than the semi I used to drive.
let me give you some advice Bruce on an 18 as much weight as you haul all you need to do is shift it like an 8 an split the top gear i used to do it all the time itll be fine an btw its a low rpm engine so 16 an 12 to 13 00an congratz on the babys
