I think the air pockets in your tunnel are caused by the water source blocks connecting with air blocks that might be on the other side of your tunnel. It’s like Minecraft’s weird way to mimic surface tension or something. Try digging those spots out, filling in any missing blocks, then replacing the decoration and see if that works.

There is actually some logic behind it. Minecraft dolphins will can't spend too long underwater or on land or they will drown/suffocate. The drowning makes sense, since dolphins are mammals and need to breathe air. As for suffocation, it may be a reference to beaching. Beaching is more well-known in larger cetaceans, but can happen to dolphins as well, where they can dry out, overheat, and die of exposure. The thing about Minecraft mobs is that, if the player gets too far away, their AI will cause them to freeze wherever they are. For dolphins, who need exposure to both water and air, this means they will either drown or suffocate. It's why they video tells you to put them in a bubble column; that's the only way to keep them alive.

I think there should be a secret Easter egg sort of death message if you have dolphin’s grace, soul speed, and depth strider active at once and still manage to drown yourself, since that’s a VERY particular scenario. Where likely, the person was attempting this exact thing and fatally screwed it up. Something like “[player] had too much dolphun”

Modded Minecraft is fun because slime boots essentially remove any sort of friction you experience when coming in contact with blocks so if you find a dolphin while swimming you accelerate exponentially until you hit the next continent or the game glitches and thinks you’re not swimming anymore.

@4:52 Instead of using colored concrete to indicate which tunnels are coming up at intersections you could use banners. They are 2 blocks tall making them easier to see, but more importantly you can swim through them so they dont block any of the tunnel (they are also cheaper than concrete which also allows them to be used quite frequently). They also allow different patterns so instead of just using colors to indicate specific tunnels you can use patterns to distinguish them (say a creeper farm you could use the creeper pattern).
My next Minecraft session I will def be looking into adding these, should make traveling quicker and even entertaining.

    • @ntader

Oh wow, good idea, I hadnt considered banners!

    • @brimal_rage
      @brimal_rage 15 дней назад

@@ntader Banners also block water and dont get washed away, so at intersections you can use colored/patterned banners to stop the water and inform the player which tunnel is which direction based on where the banner is placed to stop the water (instead of fence gates used in the video).
Also if you name a banner and place it at intersections/bases or farms you can use maps and mark out where your tunnels are using the in game maps instead of creating your own via map making.
Just throwing this out there, but does using a lead on a dolphin in tunnels and bringing one with you work? Or is that too fast and it breaks the lead? This would eliminate the need to move so many dolphins and just capture 1 for each tunnel terminus.

Conduite power for water breathing and night vision. Also turtle helmet with respiration you only need a quick gasp of air and air bubbles refill while your underwater swimming at max speed. So put a one block air pocket every idk 50 blocks. Use a colorful glass tint over a sea lantern to mark the air pockets.

Actually, the water breathing doesn't prevent the dolphin from dying. Since dolphins are mammals and not fishes they need air to breathe. That means they can indeed die by not being able to be in contact with air. If you spent to much time out of the water with a dolphin with water breathing, it will die after a couple minutes out of *suffocation* damage and not *drowning* damage. That's why almost all holding cells for dolphins look similar to this one: they are in contact with both water and air to survive.

This will break in about 1/9th of a second on switch, it only loads like 1 chunk every second.

You can bring water breathing potion to that tunnel just in case something goes wrong :P I cant use that kind of tunnel in server i play in, because it run on 1.12.2 by the way. Just saying...

I added the piston bolt to the spread sheet
    Piston bolt in nether =($A$2/280)+8 =D17/60 =COUNT($D$2:$D$17) - RANK(D17,$D$2:$D$17) + 1

1: How far apart the dolphins need to be put?
2: Can the tunnel me just one block tall?
3: Wouldn't a boat highway in nether be faster?

Instead of the elytra i would build a nether ice boat highway

Yeah sure I'll use a convoluted and 'superior' way of transportation for which I need dolphins, and which is still slower than boat + ice in the nether. And is a lot harder to build. Why wouldn't I?

On my server we are not making it tunnels, but aqueducts, so that you can fly in with an elytra any time you like

why not build massive ice roads on the nether roof tho? It goes faster than both and can be done very quickly. But very stylish.

Couldn't you just use waterlogged slabs with soul soil below, and just some extended "water blocks" for where the dolphins or main entrances are? Seems much easier than an entire Tunnel.

If dolphin tunnel is only 5 times faster than elytra in the over world, while you travel 8 blocks in the over world per block in the nether, how is dolphin tunnel faster than nether elytra which is 8 times faster?
