a million emotions in a three minute song. A world of feeling in a few short words. The beta males who do «country» so-called music today could learn a lot
Even though I have all these songs myself, I sit here listening tonight and have chills all over. This is one of the songs where my goosebumps have goosebumps. There is nobody I miss as much as Marty Robbins, the greatest of all.
The writer of these lyrics must have lived what is sung in these verses...it resonates deeply, particularly because of Marty's beautiful delivery. This is an extraordinarily beautiful love ballad. I've never heard this recording before, and this moment I feel as if I've stumbled onto real treasure. RIP Marty.
I love this music and the background is so sweet with the steel in there so tastefully done. They just don't make music like this anymore. It's a sad day with the music dies.
The themes of country songs have the knack of hitting the nail on the head and telling events the way they unfold . Ballads were what Marty Robbins loved singing most, and his penchants were in perfect phase with his ability to produce an emotional love song. Tim.
Hi Tarquin45. I really love this song . I had never heard it before . completely beautiful. What album is it from?. I have many albums , but did not see it on any I have . I have loved Marty forever ,and miss him so much . HE IS MY MAN!! Thank you so much for all the beautiful things you post for Marty. Betty, from Marty's home town of Arizona .. USA
Top video! Like this even better than some of the 'live' ones as this 'stops' the action, and really shows off what was magical about this great balladeer ... a true legend. The smiles at the end ... have made my day! THANK YOU!
Hi Betty, it's from Marty's first MCA album which came out in November 1972 'This Much A Man.' It was written by a guy named Jim Easterling who also wrote 'Hello Daily News.' Regards, David (tarquin45) from London.
I know this is a reply to a 4 year old post, but here goes. I gather that you are from London so your post is particularly interesting to me, as Jim Easterling is a very close friend of mine.

So many great vocalists who sing really well. Still, in my book, Marty is the greatest !!! Thanks tarquin45 for poasting this ballad.
How true! Many have gone down this route and realised too late their mistake. Wonderful singer!
You can only write a song like that if you have lived it...You can't sing a song like that unless your name is Marty Robbins
Gone too soon. Such a gifted man who obviously loved what he did. The songs he sings must ring true for a lot of people.
He is just beautiful could listen all day .. He was just amazing not like some of the music these days

I am probably the biggest Waylon Jennings fan EVER , but this is the greatest voice ever in country music , and also a great , great entertainer .
