    The Castle in the end is commonly interpreted as the Verano Cemetery in Rome.

    So the most widely accepted storyline of this song (based off of a few interviews) is that Coraline has an abusive father, who rapes and impregnates her and then, as a line at the end implies, beats her to the point that she miscarries. The "Castle" is in fact subjective, but most people believe, like you, that it represents death, specifically the Verano Cemetery in Rome.

    • @pirimpallopirimpalli4932
      @pirimpallopirimpalli4932 2 года назад +24

      It's not accepted at all, it's only passed along by people who absolutely want to believe their interpretation is correct. There's no final say, there cannot be and there shouldn't be; this song was inspired by real facts that the author does not want to disclose, and I can see why. Give the audience a bit of personal tragedy and they'll pounce on it like hungry wolves.

    I think your interpretation of the song is what the song really is about. The band said this is a true story, but they didn't reveal who the girl actually is.
    Also, the right pronunciation of Måneskin is m-UH-neskin so the stress is on the first syllable

    I'm italian and I love English don't get me wrong, but here I can see why people love Italian and I can tell that the lyrics in Italian are so much more poetic, even from the "common" language we speak. That is what, for us, makes this song so emotional, sad and beautiful. it's so deep and meaningful.
    Damiano's voice and interpretation makes you feel the emotions even if you don't know the lyrics and that's why I consider him one of the best artists in the world right now. But him alone no, the whole band together is gold. They're so close, they do everything together and they're incredibly talented. They're like brothers, when they started Thomas was 14 years old!!!
    I like your analysis of the lyrics but you skip an important part: "she has a father that who's nothing like a father and that she just lost the fruit of her womb" that adds more darkness to the story. Clearly, a story of abuse (the monster at the beginning of the song) and the loss of her baby, never knowing love, because the baby probably was his father's.

    The band says that the song is based on a true story but they don't want to reveal who they're talking about. It's about mental health and dealing with a mental illness. They were asked about the ending before and they said that they didn't want to add an happy ending because while it is good to have hope, people don't always win against their illnesses and they wanted to portray that as well. Also i might add, maybe they also wanted to show how harsh it actually is with the contrast between that ending part and the verse where he sings about being supportive and being a shield for the person's pain

    There is a reason if they won ESC for the song Zitti e buoni + Eurostory best lirics awards. This band is on another level. Damiano, the singer, is also the one that writes the lirics that’s why he feels so deeply what he sings. He’s a poet. Thomas the guitarist, Victoria the bassist, Ethan the drummer complete all with their amazing music. They’re so young 21-22 years old but since the very beginning they never failed. I haven’t find any “ugly” song and maybe I’ll never. Their cover too are fantastic! The one Bury a friend by Billie Eilish is fenomenal. 🔥🤟❤️

    Måneskin are a fantastic young band, Damiano, the singer, writes the lyrics and the music is the work of the whole band. They started very young, when they were 16 to 18 years old and even earlier. Coraline is from a true story. They are extraordinary, I recommend listening to La Fear of the Dark, Twenty Years and Bruises on the Elbows as well as Zitti and Buoni with which they saw Sanremo in Italia and l'Eurovision, taken from the latest album Teatro d'Ira 1. From the previous Album The dance of life, I recommend Back home and The distant words. These are all wonderful pieces in Italian but the English language production is beautiful too. I understood the castle with tall walls as a barrier you put when you’re very hurt, you become very closed and don’t let people in as a protection from being hurt again. I like seeing different interpretations! And I’m trying to understand the real meaning now that I’m sure this story and song means something to Giorgia (Damiano’s girlfriend) since she has “Coraline” tattooed on her arm.

    Dude, you NEED to check out Subsonica. They are absolutely brilliant, my favourite Italian band by a mile, but seem to be largely unknown outside their home country. It's not easy to adequately describe their music. Overall I would call it electronic pop/rock, but they cover a wide range of different moods and approaches within that genre, from quiet to loud, from largely electronic mood pieces to energetic outbursts or (more or less) dance tracks. Just give them a go, it's worth it. Some personal favourites: "Una nave in una foresta", "L'incredibile performance di un uomo morto", "Istrice", "La Glaciazione", "Veleno" and "Ritmo Abarth".

    Coraline is the story of a child abused by her father. Her schizoid heart prevents her from loving what she loved about her because of her nature. Like her father who turns into a monster, so the sea and the river are reflected in her fears. The meaning of the good is reversed. The father is evil, so is the food, going out the door of that prison, seeing the future - for Coraline all this is steeped in great pain. A man who would like to help her in a safe place, a shelter for children taken from the family. He would like to give her shelter, affection, without asking for anything in return. But Coraline is broken, forever. It's a song about domestic violence.

    You should definitely do an album reaction on their latest album. It’s amazing. And they have some amazing covers as well that you should watch, like bury a friend by Billie eilish and kiwi by Harry styles.

    This song is more probably about mental health, anxiety and depression

    It makes sense that their Italian lyrics are much deeper, partly because the song is more slow and serious, but also because English is their second language and it’s harder to word things. Take “take on me” by aha as an example. It’s a massive hit but the lyrics doesn’t really make sense and it’s clear that English is not their first language
