Honestly the way you pivoted to holding it out to the side like a cape was so flawless it looked amazing anyway! I'm so glad you had an awesome time and that everyone got to see your Toph in person! Huge congrats for representing Aus (and Western Australia!)
i completely feel for you! my star guardian jinx cosplay, the prop launched into the crowd and my wig fell off... i had so many people come up to afterwards telling me how good I was at carrying on and being up there. so I'm sure many people were inspired by you just carrying on!
i was lucky enough to be sitting in the front row for crowns, and seeing you and the other contestants immediately inspired me to try and compete in crowns next year :) congrats on making it this far, you had such an amazing stage presence!!!
I am so proud of you! Your cosplay is spectacular and you delivered! (Remind me to tell you sometime of the day my skirt fell off in the city's downtown as I was going into a job interview. Not a patch on your experience, but girl I will never forget it. That was 43 years ago. I no longer had to worry about whether or not I could die of mortification. I can't! :) )
man it sucks that the prob broke but its always like that everything is fine until the moment you need it haha you still did duper great and Im sure the people who didnt know it was sipposed to stay up didnt even notice cause you covered it up so well
I was watching the livestream with some other cosplayers and we thought that you recovered really well when the prop malfunctioned! All of us were familiar with the build so we knew it wasn't intentional but still thought that you handled it fabulously in the heat of the moment.
I absolutely LOVE your Toph cosplay. I am SUCH a fan of ATLA. Ms. Kirilee you put those nerves behind you and showed uppp and showed outt. Amazing job.✨
You handled it so well. It looked like it didn't throw you at all even though inside it probably did. I've been in countless audiences where cosplays have gone wrong and the crowd is always super supportive. It's never as embarassing as it feels.
I'm one the first to comment here and I want to say , in any case you did an amazing job and you has probably the best reaction possible (according to me) My first ever cosplay contest was a few months ago and it went absolutely horribly (it was a 50/50 craftsmanship and performance and I lost my wig at the beginning of the performance, I still did my thing as is nothing happened) In the end of course I didn't place but the few people who knew that character caught me after the competition and we spend the next hours and a half talking and waking around the con , those were stranger I had never met before but they were super and kind and we all had a good time talking about one of our favorite show/books And in the end even if the competition didn't go well it was one of my best experience ever ! And I'm planning to compete again (with the same cosplay with some part remade including a new wig and other cosplay too) You are a huge inspiration, your crafting video encouraged me to do things I thought myself incapable of , hell I'm gathering the last layer of my first ever petticoat as I'm writing this ! (Your tutorial from a few years ago was very helpful to make it btw)
I was watching the livestream just to see you that day! You handled it better than anyone else could have, the anxiety didn't stop you and you did absolutely amazing.
Thank you honestly for all your hard work behind the sewing machine, camera, and computer! You're a huge inspo to me and many others. I know the gut wrenching feeling of something happening on stage that wasn't planned, but you carried yourself so elegantly and strongly! JUST LIKE TOPH !!! Congrats to you and all the contestants for putting yourself and your art out there!
Kirilee you did amazing! You are such an inspirational creator who is a professional performer and works so hard with all your heart in all that you do! You did a fantastic job and I look forward to seeing what you continue to do as you inspire this little cosplayer in SA and many more!
I was cheering you on from my hotel room while eating too much Mexican food and nursing my horribly aching feet! You looked great and you had amazing energy! Congrats on getting up there and showing off your amazing work!
This video is very helpful for me to know that it’s okay for things not go as plan for cosplay. That Toph cosplay is amazing! I’m excited to try to compete in competitions.
I was watching a livestream and tbh the chat was celebrating every competitor but everyone was asking when you were going to be on stage because we were excited to see you.
I soooooo hear you. Back in the 90s I was a puppeteer for a medieval play. All was good with my puppet - until! These things happen, You do brillant work. Don't forget it.! Cheers from a non-cosplayer in Toronto Canada (I don't costume but I am a member of Costumers of Colour).
What a great experience! Those pictures are amazing and you really showed your total performing self! You unclipped that prop so fast it seems intentional. Very smooth.
I was so excited watching the Livestream and lost my mind seeing your amazing work on that stage! You are such a huge inspiration to me finally getting into the competition circuit here 💖✨💖
Your costume is great! So cool to see your final form. Love Toph! And the other ATLA costumes made a great trio. Malfunctions happen to everyone. It's ok. You looked AMAZING!
@@KirileeCosplay awww well, i will continue to support all ur lovely vids on youtube i did enjoy the video you posted from C2E2 2024 hope u had a great time this year
hi, gorgeous kirilee! great job powering through a broken rock prop in front of a live audience. as an engineer, i learned long ago that demos that work 100% of the time before you show them to the customer love to fail only when you show them to the customer--so we always record our demos working in case something fails in the customer meeting. so i know what it is to have to "think fast, rabbit!" as bugs bunny would say! much love to you--and your toph is incredible!!
Dear Kirilee, your Toph cosplay is amazing. Of course, it’s a pity that it didn’t work as you wanted on stage but you covered it up perfectly and it still was amazing! I hope you’re very proud of yourself. You can be. 💚🤎
I watched the prop fail at the con but I was so impressed with how you handled it!! Didn’t even stop for a second, just back into posing It was incredible!
You did so great!!! In Gias you had a wonderful time regardless of the wardrobe malfunction! You have every right to be immensely proud of yourself!❤❤❤
You kicked it in the dick, you did amazing all the way through 💚 I was watching through Cowbutt Crunchies livestream on IG and the chat was also FULL of cheers for you, I even saw many people join the live late and ask "did I miss Kirilee??". Your silent cheer squad was not silent that day. PS: Dear lord, I'm so sorry you had to use the hotel iron, that's always so scary
Kirilee! Well fricking done girl😭✨🔥 This was so awesome and motivating to watch!! As a South African cosplayer, I hope to one day stand on the same stage as you have and have just as much fun! Your work will always inspire me to push myself✨ YOU’RE FANTASTIC!❤

Hi, you looked amazing as toff, you should be proud of what you made, I've made costumes for my daughter so I know how hard it is and her's were fairly simple. ❤

Thank you so much hun! Sometimes the only option you have is to pivot
I was at the competition in the audience, and I did not realize that anything wrong had happened. Very impressive!
