Thanks for doing this. I found it interesting. I was really glad to hear that the Ontario Gov't is working to decentralize processing, I hope the same is done in other provinces as well. In addition, I would hope they do the same with slaughter plants. Growing up on a dairy farm and drinking what is now called "black market milk", I have always wanted to replace that since the dairy I got from has since closed decades ago. Finding black market milk is hard! And through no fault of your's the added ingredients that they are adding to milk, cream, butter etc that is causing a very healthy thing to become unhealthy is a reason that some are getting their own cows, thus not supporting the industry. I too have considered it. I was always a supporter of my provincial dairy industry, but since all this other "stuff" is being added, I am finding it all but impossible to find pure milk and so I find I am buying milk that is coming in from other provinces. I find it frustrating and sad when one wants to support local. Their answer to me when I emailed them was basically that it makes it more stable and a better product...pardon? If the cattle are being fed the best product, how can you improve on the milk. Makes no sense to me. As a result I buy butter from Quebec, cream from Ontario and do buy Milk from my home dairy. I would imagine that I am not alone in this thinking either. And again, not faulting you the producer, but rather those that are making the products we purchase to consume. I hope I have not offended, just wanted to share my thoughts on the subject.

As a former dairy, cattle, exporter and dealer trader have sold dairy cattle across North America until 2003 mad cow crisis years and having to switch into the feedlot beef industry producing milk and feeding a dairy cow and growing cattle is one of the more economical animal to feed here in Ontario, however, I found our marking system has been very toned depth over the last 20 years. The price of dairy products is way out of whack to what the consumer disposable income is. For example there’s all kinds of jobs at $23 an hour Canadian and meat while 35 years ago I was making $14 an hour and today’s in today’s dollars, it would come out to be able $34. Canadian can’t buy expensive food and expensive housing and expensive energy cost-of-living is way out of whack with most of North America. People are gonna find cheaper alternatives or budget friendly alternatives. I work for a major refrigerated transportation company loading straight trucks doing local delivery and one thing I’ve noticed they’ve handled less and less dairy products over the years because of the risks of claims choose up the profit margins when there is a 2% margin in the transportation industry warehousing you have to do a lot of business to make up the losses on the freight claims and there is also staffing problems because of the low wages and another thing I’ve noticed living in the southwest corner Waterloo region, any land that has been bought by farmers has been dairy farmers, and the prices have been paid. There is no way Chicago board of trade commodities are paying for the land. Somehow the cost of dairy products has to come in sync with the rest of North American prices, or we’re going to have social on stability in our society, it’s very difficult to attract good manufacturing employers, when our cost of food is extremely high and our cost of housing extremely high

When RAW MILK is on every store shelf in Canada and the USA our DAIRY'S WILL BE SAVED. I come from a family of dairy farmers, from upstate NY, the last time I went north, all the family farms were GONE replaced by big conglomerates who stole the family dairy farms. We did everything by hand, raising hay for winter feed and purchased grain. God Bless the family farmer!
