Hello everyone! A few weeks ago, I asked what topic(s) you would like to see. The most popular answer was a home tour, so here it is!!! I didn’t realize it had been so long since I did one! I’ve done a lot of decluttering and organizing since the last home tour! I hope this gives you lots of good organizing and storage ideas for your own home! I know this summer is a busy time, please know that I really do appreciate you making time to watch my video! Love y’all! 🥰

Mrs. DeDe.... I have absolutely NO idea why none of your videos have ever popped up in the algorithm for me. Most of my free time is dedicated to watching organization & DIY home renos on YT. I just went back and watched your very first RUclips video from 3 years ago. And by your introduction alone, I was like, "I am her, and she is me!". 😆 From your story about your childhood and your love for organization, it fits me to a TEE. I don't usually comment on RUclips, but I do wanna let you know that I will be supporting you by going back and binge watching ALL your videos! (I'm late to the party, so please don't get annoyed by the sea of likes/comments you might get from me). I'm TOO excited and giddy right now just from scrolling through your video list. THANK YOU FOR SHARING! ❤

Hi there!! I am super excited that you found me! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 I don’t know why our paths have never crossed. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Who knows why the algorithm does what it does what it does?!? (Insert eye roll🙄) 😆
You are not late at all, I guess I popped up at the time I was supposed to! I believe everything happens for a reason, maybe three years ago you wouldn’t have been ready for my kookiness! 🤣🤣🤣 I appreciate you going back and watching some of the earlier videos, I know they were a bit rough! I used to get so nervous!! I really appreciate you taking the time to write me such a kind comment! I am not someone who comments a lot either when I watch videos. I am better at it now that I have my own channel and I realize how important the feedback and encouragement can be! I don’t know if you do FB or Insta, but I am over there too, and we have quite a little community. We share humor, inspiration, motivations and sometimes tidy uppers will share photos of projects or things they have done in their homes. If you don’t do FB or Insta, no worries! I just wanted to invite you if that’s something you might like!
Thank you so much for tuning in and I look forward to hearing from you again! 🤗

@@MyBigTidyUp I have been watching and commenting so much that I have lost track! 😆 I do appreciate you taking the time to respond to not just me but everyone in your 'Tidy Community' as well. To me, that shows that you truly care and love what you do... With so much going on just in life in general, it does feel great to click on social media just for a sweet escape; no riff-raff. I love your kookiness and I agree it is right on time! I am not on other social media platforms ATM, but if that changes I'll be sure to swing by 😉 Thank you again for continuing to share a bit of HAPPY!

Hi there, DeDe! I love watching you and seeing your lovely home. I relate more to your style of organizing and I just got an idea. The one thing I struggled with for a while was how to make things work in my house when I didn’t have the spaces you have. My house sounds big enough until I see inside yours 😃 you are blessed with so much cabinet space and closets! Instead of feeling lost, I just look a hard look at what I don’t have. I have 4 bedrooms but one small closet in each except master bedroom has 2 sides to hang clothes and a shelf over each side and that’s it. Built 45 years ago. Main bathroom has walk in shower now but one sink cabinet so no place for towels but under sink. So no place for cleaning or other supplies. I think I will replace hamper for a shelf to put towels and then put cleaning supplies, etc under sink. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi Betty! Thank you so much for sharing with me! I have always had so much space, so I definitely understand. One thing that has always helped me is trying to store things vertically, even if I have to go up higher above my head and it requires a step stool at least, isn’t ground clutter. I also try to store things on their sides when possible. That way I don’t have items stacked on top of each other and it’s easy to retrieve one item without moving a huge stack. I don’t know if any of those suggestions will help, but maybe it will give you some ideas. Thanks so much for watching and thanks again for sharing!

Wow! Thank you, DeDe, for this great tour of your gorgeous home and how wonderfully you've organized it! I declutter and organize all the time, and though I don't have anything close to all the storage space you have, I've gotten things to where I have a few empty shelves and drawers. I don't look to fill them, but I look at them as room to "breathe"- for the actual items, but just as much for my inner self which is so easily overwhelmed. Have a super week!

    • @MyBigTidyUp
      @MyBigTidyUp  3 месяца назад +2

Hello Carolyn! I agree with what you are saying about giving items and our spaces room to breathe! I was just saying that sometimes having a lot of storage space can be a bad thing because it just gives you more areas to stash things! I heard someone say once, just because you have an empty drawer doesn’t mean you need to fill it! 😆 I still have a long way to go, but the more I get rid of and have, the happier I become. Thank you so much for watching, I appreciate you tuning in!

Hey! Honestly I think the only solution for the toys sitting out in your bsmt family room is....Father Time. Just enjoy the little kids while you can. Before you know it they'll be grown. The rest of your house looks fabulous so just 1 room having toys out is a win!❤❤❤

I used the leaf-blower on my front porch today. ✅ That's one off the DeDe inspired todo list LOL The metal racks in your My Big Tidy closet are very handy in closets . I need to go to our extra closet & resort / declutter. Dawg gone ! one off the list, one on 🤣 Beautiful job keeping your zoned closet 👏 You'll be a minimalist in no time 😲 I should change my jean storage , I like yours on my tired hangers they look bulky and I don't care for that look as much. I got just a few 😁spaces like that . & somethings I just like so it will be more cluttered than some are comfortable with .
Kids toys hmmm. smallest in ottoman largest in storage closet 🤨maybe, small totes of toys filed in large plastic tote ... another ottoman for those maybe . I'll keep thinking, those are just my knee jerk thoughts. Cluttered floors are a pet peeve of mine too

I really do like the way I have been keeping my jeans. It works so good! I can see what I have and when I grab one pair out, it doesn’t mess up the others in the container because they’re stored vertically!

Wow! It really is impressive how much decluttering and organizing you have done. Truly inspiring! When you were talking about where to store the overflow of toys in the basement area the only thought that occurred to me was to maybe put them where you have your sports memorabilia near the kitchenette. I know those keepsakes are important so maybe only having a few of them out until you don't need so much room for the grandbaby's stuff. Also, when you were showing the guest room upstairs, the one you say you really don't use (or use a lot), I had the thought "Oh, wouldn't that make a nice office space? That way you and your husband could have your own private work space and maybe even give you additional storage if need be. Even if you put in a smaller bed so you have that option. Just somethings to think about. At any rate, thank you for taking us along on this incredible journey. I look forward to what lies ahead. Have a blessed weekend!

I would only have one area to store all the food. Suggestion - move all your food products into the laundry pantry (bar your spices keep them in the kitchen near your stove top PLUS keep your coffee station also in the kitchen ). By moving your food products out of the kitchen you will have more room to store all your electricals, pots, pans and things from your buffet cabinet. Also, not sure why you have to have two coffee areas (I live in a double story house and make my coffee downstairs and take it up stairs to my work station all the time). But each to their own

Hello there! Thank you so much for your suggestions! You definitely gave me some new ideas! We decided to add an extra coffee station upstairs because we spend so much time up there. It was just so much easier because we make coffee first thing and sit in that room every morning and enjoy it before we start our day. There is also a balcony outside of our bedroom door upstairs that we enjoy having our coffee on. Having two stations is just something that works really well for us. Also, the downstairs coffee bar is utilized more by our guests and it serves extra purposes during the holidays. During the fall months, it is a coffee and apple cider bar, during the winter holiday months it serves as a coffee, Cocoa and cookie bar! 🤗

You have much room! Beautifully organized, and spotlessly clean.
In your hutch, be careful about storing your china plates on their rims. I've heard that can cause fine cracks.
Regarding your search for toy storage space: you've got TONS of empty space in your house. Take the area where you'd like to put the toys, and move whatever is already there to an empty drawer or cabinet or closet somewhere else, such as moving the entertainment glassware in the kitchenette.

    • @MyBigTidyUp
      @MyBigTidyUp  3 месяца назад

      Thank you!
I do have a lot of space, the problem is with the toys. I need them stored in the basement because that is where my grandchildren play when they are over several days a week. Most of the toys are too big for the extra drawers in the basement guestrooms, plus I wouldn’t want them trying to retrieve them out of tall dressers where they could get hurt. Their main playing area is the basement family room/kitchenette. The shelving in the basement where all of the sports glassware is kept is not very deep so I wouldn’t be able to store any kind of totes on that shelving. My goal is to find a solution that is neat, tidy, accessible for them to retrieve and return their own toys so far I just haven’t found the perfect solution for us, but I know I will eventually! 🤗👍🏼

.....Can't wait to see , ..A Home Organization Tour ! Will be updating my Comment my dear Friend! 😊🙂
Update to my Comment (I apologise for the delay, lol)
Oh my , Miss Dede... Your Home is beautiful, ( as we know ) and the Organization , in your Rooms and Closets are truly a Reflection of your Gift !
You have done an a m a z i n g job of placing your items in areas that " work for you " and that is so important!
As far as the suggestion for your little ones for their toys and such...I see one of my Suggestions was mentioned ( perhaps thin out the Memorabilia a bit (?) , use that space for certain items ) .
My other Suggestion was to perhaps find a cabinet, with doors, to place in the area where you have the Bench.. Something similar in " feel and Woid tone " to the other one that holds tge Television. Just a thought , Because I do know that when my granddaughter was younger.I had almost all her things in that Cabinet in my home ( the one I had sent you a picture of - the painted Console) and it just made it so much easier to put things away and she knew right where her things were.Everything was in bins and baskets and even some larger toys that were hers would fit in there when I laid them on their side and so it kept things out of sight , but it kept them contained and organized. So, now, as she's grown.Of course, the things they're changing, but the one thing.I do always keep out for her are her Books, I keep them in a little basket for her... A pretty, gold wire basket. So she knows right where her books are. Those are near my desk, but everything else is basically , in the Cabinet. Just a thought that might work. Then you could still use the Bench Storage for the Bigger items.
This was such a lovely, lovely Tour ...how great of you to share all of that with us,and also, the amount of things you've donated, given away ,and such was no small thing. ...!
I wax thinking also, with your one Guest room..and, afain.. it was mentioned....
I was thinking.. a lovely Daybed ( with or without a trundle ( or even just a nice e Twin Size bed, with a Trundle, or perhaps a smaller " Hide- a Bed " ) might work if you thought about having your own Offuce area , and it can still be useful for Guests as needed. I had this Configuration ,and it worked fine.
Well, I've rambled on enough , lol !
So enjoyed the Tour , and you looked
    g r e a t , dear friend.
I'm hoping you all will have a Splendid Weekend! ✨️🤗🙏🏻😊🤍

Thank you so much, friend! I love all of your ideas. You are the second person who is mentioned about the memorabilia and utilizing some of that space. You both are some of my strongest supporters and always have brilliant ideas so I’m really truly considering thinning out some of the memorabilia!
I never considered a daybed for the guestroom! The guest rooms aren’t real big, so it will probably be a very good option! Thank you so much for all your great ideas! We may visit more about these via email! Thank you so much for watching and sharing your thoughts friend. Wishing you a blissful weekend!

... Awwww. ..thank you , my friend. Smiles , and you are so sweet . .. I love being here as part of your Community/ Supporters and you are so great about my " verbose Comments " , lol !
I wanted to also include my own use of Lazy Susans .. I have at least 7 or 8, in various locations.. even the Refrigerator. ..lol. A very large Clear one holds the Milk/ Juices / Tall Things ..like an Occasional bottle of Moscato / or any other tall items .
By the way, A " chatty Tour Guide " is helpful, lol !😉🙂😊
Yes, we can discuss further via Email, but I so appreciate your always taking the time to Reply!
      Oh ! The " Guess 1981" is a long time Favourite of mine,..,since its launch in 2017. ..its a light, " not heavy scent " of Florals/ Fruit/ light wood Scent . ( Violets/ Sandalwood/ exotic Jasmine) .
Thank you for the Wishes for a Blissful Weekend! 🙏🏻🤍✨️

Good morning DeDe. A beautiful and tidy home indeed!! Thank you for sharing. In our playroom I use a laundry basket to hold all the matchbox cars (which are all my sons!). I love when the boys play with those. It’s brings me back to my son playing with them. As far as other toys, you could do a cubby thing with baskets inside so you have a decor piece and toys holder. Just a thought. But, I think it looks just fine as is. Hope you have a great weekend! See you next week 😘

Good morning Grace! That’s so funny that you mentioned the hot wheels/matchbox cars because I feel the same way. My son has a huge collection of them and that was his go to toy when he was younger and his boys love them as well. It is definitely like going down memory lane.🥹That’s a good idea about a cubby with baskets! Thank you so much for watching. I hope you have a beautiful week in store!
