I love that there's more plant based options there. I've been to Natural Lawson many times when I stayed there and it's great it exists when you want quick food.
Vegan eateries is such a niche market especially in most Asian countries . Shizuka's detailed descriptions and enthusiasm will certainly draw more clientele to these establishments. #JapanByFood delivers again !
Guys, you outdid yourselves in this one! First, the quality of the vegan options look absolutely top notch. I'm not vegan/vegetarian, but I would totally have these options, particularly if Im in the midst of fasting periods. Secondly, Shizuka just took it to another level. I absolutely LOVE how she put herself together in this episode. She looks so good in that dress and jacket. Amazing! Thank you guys for the research, the time putting this together, and adding that next tier of fashion to match with Shizuka's amazing personality and wonderful presence.
All of these vegan options looked so delicious. I will definitely be saving these great restaurants so I can visit them when I come to Japan. Thank you for sharing them all with us!🌱💜
This is a very good video, thank you very much Shizuka. I am not vegan and not vegetarian, but normally dont eat meat (however when I travel, I dont want to limit myself). The first place looks really great ! I am a huge fan of mapo tofu. I am surprised that it is served as a japanese dish, as its from the sichuan province in china. One of my favorite dishes in Japan, is ramen. One of the best ramen I had was at the little shop/restaurant just outside of teamLab Planets in Tokyo, and it is vegan.
Its amazing to see the vibrant food culture in Tokyo while also being mindful of the impact animal agriculture has on the environment and animal welfare - a perfect reminder that even small changes can make a big difference! Im sharing this, come check out some inspiring vegan stories and recipes
Vegetarian rather than vegan here, but one who doesn't have a liking for mock meats. That said, I haven't had a problem in Tokyo bar getting prawns in fried rice on my first trip in 2004. It does mean that it's pretty hard to just walk in off the street without having done at least some research before hand though, so it's nice to see more dedicated vegetarian and vegan places springing up.
I see. I'm not the only one who's glad you are back! When I saw someone else present an episode, I began to wonder, what happened? So, I checked to see if there was anything online. Wow! You have serious chops.(credentials). You are so down to earth, I was blown away. 😊
nice to have vegan options... other food options than sushi, noodles and sweets.... exactly what we need.. more food options!!!! eat our way through Japan!
My mum will love this eating spots as meat doesn’t do well with her digestive system. Heading to Osaka and Kyoto next year so hopefully I get to see some videos of those cities as well
Hi Shizuka! Curious- which was your favorite between the vegan karage, fried mushrooms and mabo tofu? It’s always fun watching you on your adventures!!! 😊
Was about to recommend you guys to make a Vegan-themed adventure, but then this came.. yeayyy!! 🎉 Can I recommend you guys to make a Halal-themed food adventure..? There are a lot of Muslim tourists / students coming to Japan yearly but it's difficult for them to find a Halal food restaurant / cafe.. Hope you guys consider this recommendation 😊
Yay! This is a great idea!! We actually did one on the channel years ago if you want to check it out! (Search “Japan by Food halal” maybe!) but we should definitely do an updated one!! Thanks for the idea ❤️
I just got back from Eid celebration and just in time (3 hours off, though :b :b ) for a new episode with Shizuka-nee. She's back with a COOL JACKET, and this time it's Manager OL work-style :D :D I love how diverse and creative the vegan dishes are. One could think it's the real thing if not informed about their vegan nature before. Defo in the bucket list to visit there :> :>
Please do best hotels with more room space with breakfast in Tokyo thanks for RUclips soon Japan also how to get to the airport etc with the hotel rooms in Tokyo big rooms for two people two sprete beds but more space not small rooms
I hope you guys also make a video about halal food in Japan, because it would be very nice to see the various variations of halal food in Japan, and it would be very helpful for us Muslim travelers who will travel to Japan. ❤😍
That burger just made me crave for a burger myself. Speaking of burgers, I think the best burger I ever had was in Hiroshima. The place is called Cantina23. Anyone who visits Hiroshima should make a reservation and give it a shot!
Thanks Shizuka, I found it very hard to find vegetarian food in Japan because of the language barrier. There was usually a helpful local to point me the right way but I found the inn keepers less helpful many times when I wanted to eat with a beer. Great that you are putting this out there, your videos always rock 😊
I tried Vegan Pizza once, and to my surprise it was actually pretty good, I'm definitely going to try some more often, are tempura veggies Vegan? cause dayumm they are goood when made right
@@ShizukaAnderson I definitely agree!! I went to an amazing halal ramen place in Tokyo called Ramen Ouka and I know there’s so many more options now too
@@JapanbyFood because they can filter beer using isinglass (fish bladder), gelatin (animal bones and skin) or lactose. You wouldn’t believe the disgusting stuff used from animals to make food which is why I laugh when someone tells me tofu is gross!
I have never understood why people so against meat try to make their foods look and taste like meat. Why not just have it look and taste like what it is instead of what its not?
Most people aren’t necessarily against meat but against how it’s killed and prepared. So vegan places still make familiar foods that most of us ate our whole lives.
Yes! As someone who often eats plant-based and cares a lot about animal welfare, it’s nice to still eat foods you grew up loving but with less impact on animals!
an organic vegan beer, that's special :p not a big fan of copying meat because it always falls off but loved stuff like the shrooms. Especially asia and india are so good at making vegan food there is no need to try to copy meat in my opinion.

Not a vegan, but nice to know there are places available in Japan! And of course, monks in the temples are very creative with plant based meals!
Yes! When in doubt, Buddhist cuisine is a way to go!
Would love to see more content on vegan food since it seems being vegan can be a bit of a challenge in Japan!
