The PWHL's exclusive re-signing window opened on June 1, and the list of free agents is long (about 80 in all). Will most re-sign with their current teams? It sounds like at least a few of them want to test the open market, but without a lot of dollars available, will teams be able to attract them?
We look at the current contracts and free agents for each of the six teams and try to guess who would be in the group of "must sign" players. The draft takes place June 10, and then the free agent market is open to all.

I don't know if they'll do it in the this window or not, but I think Minnesota is going to sign Channell for at least another year. I've been watching her play all year and to me she's a great stay-at-home with enough speed to get to a block and enough flexibility to keep blocking. Earlier in the season I think she was a lot more tentative, but I think she's one of the big reasons the shot count was so low in the playoffs.
So, my only issue with resigning Fratkin is that she takes WAY too many penalties. She has over double the amount of penalty minutes as the next person. I feel like if she can control that she’d be a fantastic defender.
Really appreciate the depth of reporting.
Oh my gosh, THANK YOU THANK YOU, I can’t tell you how much this means to me! 💜💜💜🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for all the coverage you've done this season and looking forward to everything you'll be doing in the off season!
Thank you so so so much, I am overwhelmed. This means a lot and I will definitely keep, reporting and covering this league. I appreciate it! 💙💙💙
Thanks for the great summary! I'm looking forward to seeing how it all pans out. If Minnesota doesn't get Cava back I'm going to be heartbroken!
I think Cava wants to stay and I can't really see them not agreeing to terms. It's Abby Boreen being drafted by another team that you should worry about!
@@gamedayhockey ACK! New Fear Unlocked!
@gamedayhockey Though one of the questions with Cava getting signed is what are they going to do about Greco? I think she was probably just good enough this season to warrant another year, but does Cava has a good bargaining position to keep their GF on the team if Greco is on the bubble? I don't imagine Darwitz will be thinking in those terms but...
I'm excited to see how cutthroat this offseason will get. I think it will really clue the fans in how serious this is. When there is more money to play with, but with a salary cap obviously, things will get really interesting.
Not gonna lie I fell off for a bit but I'm reinvigorated to get even more acquainted than I already was at the start of the season. I think the offseason, for a bit, can be every bit as exciting as the in-season campaign as well. Especially under these first year circumstances with so much parity in the skill levels. I promise to be tuning in more frequently.
I appreciate it - and yes, wit this influx of talent, the quality will get better and better. And we might see players make choices about where to play, and rivalries get really heated.
Thanks!
Thanks for all the hard work and great content this PWHL season! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on wherever the next season takes us.
You are so welcome and THANK YOU SO MUCH, this means the world to me. 💜💙🤍
Thank you for the video. I didn't know what to make of Montreal's depth and you seem to be in the same camp.
Thanks for all your coverage it's really great to have, considering that no one in the US is really covering the PWHL

thank you deb!
Thank you so much!
Thank you SO MUCH. I appreciate you and this means so much for me to keep doing what I love.❤️
Great job on this. Thanks
Thank you!!
This was really well done. Love your Chanel! Totally agree with your assessment of Ottawa. For me I’m a little more urgent with getting Boyd signed though. She’s a great puck moving defender that can eat lots of minutes. If she stays healthy
I agree, she’s a very useful defender! Love her personality as well.
Boyd good to go! 😊
100% agree number one priority for MIN is Cava. Will be interesting to see if they "draft" Abby Boreen. Schepers, Butorac, and Brodt are my next 3 likely re-signs. Case can be made for Kunin as well.
Did you intend to put Barnes "over" Buchbinder? she is on a 2 year.
Well, not really, but Barnes would definitely play top pair minutes.
Excited for both the real and mock drafts!
I see you have Britta Curl going to NY. I heard she will not be drafted because of the culture the PWHL is trying to foster. It will be hard for a team to draft a player that has "liked" many posts on social media that are hateful toward LGBTQ people. Hard for a team to justify signing her without her making amends...So far she has not done that.
Completely agreed. I'm worried about Minnesota picking her up, which is going to be a problem for me and a large and vocal set of their fans.
That is definitely an issue. I would assume whatever GM drafts her would have to know what she plans to do. It might mean she isn’t drafted at all?
Hearing rumbles that she's definitely on the radar for teams in round 1-2
Also is RUclips the only way to support your content? I've been loving your stuff, but would like to avoid giving RUclips 30% of your take if possible...
Well, I also have a subscription/support on Spotify, thank you!
You didn't really touch on who Ottawa would draft like the other teams
Sorry about that - Ottawa is a hard one to predict, but I have a feeling they will take Serdachny at #2. They need a puck-moving defender, and some more grit up front. I would grab Pejsova in the second round if I were Mike Hirshfeld.
@@gamedayhockey I think there is a very good chance ottawa takes Barnes at #2 and then goes for a forward in round 2
Serdachny coming to Ottawa was an open secret😊
@@leecox6241 Yeah, it was known that she was high on their list, and at #2 not too many things could've gone wrong.
@@gamedayhockeyBoston may have had other ideas! 😊
Thanks!
Oh, thank you thank you Tristan. I appreciate your support, I really do. Hope you keep watching! Love bringing this content to you.
@@gamedayhockey Really appreciate you covering the PWHL throughout the season and the offseason, it’s hard to get consistently good content about it elsewhere so you are my go-to for PWHL happenings atm 😂 Keep it up!
