Amazing rise, amazing growth!!!. Gosh, was it about 3.5 yrs ago, we were playing 2-3 NL at Lake Elsinore. Now, quick move up to 10-20, 25-50, 50-100 w a 100 ante...100-200-400 w ante. You win 100k pots, 206k pots very impressive !! "Like a Yung maan, coming in for ahh quickie.....You are not satisfied"....lol Sorry about that ol line Mariano. Watching your blog, your still the same down to earth dude Continued success Mar !!!
Thanks for coming back to earth. I am a long time viewer who started looking for new vloggers to follow since watching wild men play nose bleed stakes does not help my game a bit. Thanks for remembering your fans. Tell Rampage too
Even if you know these guys, I would be weary playing high stakes at a place using the most commonly bought poker chips. Someone can easily sneak in some greens as $25s or blacks as $100s and easily compromise the game. That other home game you play that uses Classic Poker Chip (CPC) chips is much better to play in since those chips are not cheap & they're unique to the owner so very hard for someone to sneak in chips from the outside. Just be careful and cautious, man.
I love how brofessionally you justify less than average hands since everyone knows that normal folks like myself often play this way in real time! You've always kept it real and I enjoy that so much. Been a huge fan since vid #3!!!
When you see Mariano post a video about a $9000+ pot in 5-10 and Lex O post an hour later about $9000 buy in for 5-10 game. Hoping to see Mariano stacked his ass 🤣
The irony is moving down to a 5-10 game is that it's probably miles tougher than the Hustler Live games and other higher games you are currently playing. Game selection and Bankroll management are by far the biggest leaks players have.
The host is just asking to get cheated. Why not spend a bit of money and get some decent chips. They don’t have to be Paulsons. But dice? In a $5k game?
nice short film Mariano, $9000+ Pot in a $5-10 Game!? is my favorite short film of the year so far. but at 15:49 when you said he could easily be value betting worse hands, and the 3rd spade on board didn't change anything, what did you mean? can you name a worse value hand that could easily be betting there?
Love your blog Mariano. Just tell that host to upgrade his poker gear. Less than $50 worth of dice poker chips being used for a $5-10 home game with tens of thousands on the table? Yikes. Even some mid-range ceramics from BRpro poker would greatly increase his game security.
With the AA vs KJ pot there are really no missed draws, and he best huge. I'm not saying you SHOULD fold, but like you said- if a guy you have a read on as tight and rarely bluffing bets huge on the river you might be able to make an exploitable fold.
I believe that “weird gut feeling” is you subconsciously picking up on social cues and body language. I think sometimes our subconscious minds are better at psychology than we are.
If you want to keep the location of this home game undisclosed you should not show or at least blur out the serial numbers of trading cards if you show them (like the Pokémon and sport card in the intro). Makes it pretty easy to track the owner and possibly his location otherwise
3 million with aggressive bankroll management, around 6 million with normal bankroll management, 10 million with conservative bankroll management. Just as a rule of thumb. The aggresive one is for taking shots and able to move down stakes in an instant and is ofc very variance heavy while the other two give you a bit more of a puffer. When I played (much lower stakes) I fared best with the conservative approach because bankroll swings can have a mental effect. somehow I doubt that you should be playing these kinda stakes at all though if you are asking this very basic question in a yt comment section. it is seriously one of the first "skills" you learn when you look for any strategic advise for beginners before starting the poker career.
Everyone talks about you need 20-30 buy ins to play a certain stake. That’s only IF you want to be a professional poker player, and not many people have the time or inclination for that. If you want to sit at any poker game at any stake, 100 big blind buy in is sufficient to get going, but buying for whatever the table max allows is most advantageous.
Is that AA hand an easy call? When he bets pot on the river surely his range is polarized to a K or a bluff. You've got the best bluff catcher but as you said, you had a read that when he bets the river he has it. I'm thinking that's a straight forward fold? Feels like you didn't play your A game today, and you're reasoning didn't feel as tight as it normally does. Best of luck at HCL today.
@@MarianoPoker thanks for your response! I was thinking a smaller pocket pair probably check calls in that spot though? A pot sized bet with small pocket pairs is super thin value there because normally you call with better and fold worse (thus why I thought that bet sizing means the K or a bluff). What do you think?
I'll never understand why games with such high stakes buy chips that can be found in any Walmart. Get something with a little security, which doesn't have to be expensive
well they fullfill their purpose anyway but I totally get where you are coming from, we play with higher quality chips in our monthly poker league with buy in of 20$ :D
Looks like $15 max, no? If so, that’s extremely extremely reasonable for these stakes. Most underground games are taking upwards of $50-75 per decently sized pot
14:35 Why is this a good flop for him? He's blocking villain's ace high cards, so shouldn't their range have a lot of K high? And also there shouldn't be a lot of low draw hands because of preflop aggression. Is it just because it's less likely for them to have a king when it's already on the board?
Plugged it into range software with 77+, AKs-A7s, AKo-A6o, KQs-K7s, KQo-K7o, QJs-Q8s, QJo-Q9o, JTs-J8s, JTo, T9s-T8s, T9o, 98s-97s, 87s, 76s, 65s, 54s and he had trips a little less than 20% of the time.
Without the 5k in your stack when the big hand cam along you would have only won 1k and this would have been a significant loss. Interesting how you were saved dby just one hand.
Aren’t you skeptical of playing with the cheapest poker chips? It seems better to have custom chips or at least chips with custom markings on them. I saw the bigger denominations were marked but not the rest?
15:28 what is a worse hand here though? I feel like you only have value that beats you here (Kx, a set, or the spade flush), missed draws, hands thatd check back (4x, 2x), or specifically 9x which probably isn’t a lot. Like he’s either bluffing or beats u no? Or am i totally wrong?
I know you had a good time at this game, but Mariano, your table mates caught on quick that you bluff way too much. Only losing $250 was a pretty damn good outcome with all that loose aggressive play.
Congrats on Vlog of the year nomination
Gonna play a relatable 5-10 game and buy in for 5k, oh and it’s match the stack…… Nothing about that is relatable 😂

LOL Dice chips in a home game!!!! No way I’d be playing there for any significant money. Also the host should vacuum the dandruff off the table.
The funny part about this for me is you struggling to adjust to adjust to how face-up people play their hands in 5-10 vs your normal stakes 😂

Sir your idea of fun is a lot different than mine!
Love the vlogs! In a weird way, I'm glad to see that, like many of us, you sometimes play your C- game. Unlike many of us, you only lose $250. :)
Yeah, the most relatable hand was 52 spades lmaoooo
