Ayanami rei is made with that LCL shinji’s mom turned into, which is why it can be mass produced and looks similar to shinji’s mom. Her soul is also a rip-off version of shinji’s mom’s soul

Yes, we know Rei is at some point a bit of Shinji's Mother, but this doesn't make me like less her during the lore, its a wonderful character.
After all, the relation between Rei and Shinji during NGE is wholesome, you can even say that its weird, but you can't deny that it is cute.
And, with the end of the Rebuilds i can say that Anno tried to make us a bit less connected to the characters themselves, and more with ourselves, i love Neon Genesis Evangelion because of the ammount of messages and important lessons it brings to the table.
I was sad too with the development along 3.0 and the fact that i really liked the relation between Rei and Shinji and how it was kinda dead later on, but nonetheless i learned soon that this is important for us to understand how the anime is not made for our own sake and how we like things to happen, Evangelion acts like Life, you can be sad most of the time, but there will be hope, you can be happy, even if its not all the moments, you will be, everyone needs to enjoy happiness.
Anno found a partner, he found love and happiness along his new life and NGE fanbase, he deserves it, like all of us.

Since only half of Rei's genetical stock comes from Yui, and the other half is from Lillith, this makes her Yui's daughter, Shinji's little sister. Half sister. I think both would be happy with this information, even Asuka too.

For Asuka, there is no blood relation there. Hot redhead for the win.
The relationship in the anime is not that deep. After the battle with Triangle and Rei smiles, they don't really advance much. In the director's cut they add some more meat. In the manga however it's much more wholesome: Rei is in *crazy* love with Shinji. Shinji doesn't remember his mother (and even that, Rei doesn't really look that much like her). It is actually Rei who suffers from Oedipo's complex.

Just getting 42. When the anime was on the air, I was barely older than her. It was not a love at first sight. When I first saw her, she was at the middle of the street, I felt nothing. The second time I saw her, she was in great pain, crying. Shinji took her in his arms, but I cannot. Something moved in me. I wanted to change the universe, so she don't have to cry. Than I saw her smile... I fall in love with her, and I stayed her loyal devotee. It just happened, I got old, and she didn't changed at all.

Let me recommend you some reading material: Evangelion Re-Take. Manga. Reading order: 1,2,3,0,4,After. Yes, three, zero, and only than 4. This stuff is really something. The end of chapter one is brutal. Than things will get worse.

Nope. She was created as an experiment to recreate Yui, but experiment failed. She was created with parts of Yui's DNA, found in Eva1, so she's basically Lilith's clon with small amount of Yui's DNA. Also, Rei had her own personality and soul.
