I'm a formally trained, professional kitchen & bath designer. Usually, bathroom diy makeover videos leave me cringing. Most do things that physically ruin the existing space or fixtures, and will not hold up over time to repeated use. Yours is an excellent transformation! I think the biggest factors in that are the new vanity hardware and the dark paint color. Your design and accessory choices show good taste & great judgement . You really got huge design payoff for a very small investment. The only thing as a landlord that I wouldn't like is the painting of the window. Windows are expensive so people should always ask permission first. Your video is well done and fun to watch. Okay, you got me to do something I rarely ever do. I hit "subscribe"! Can't wait to watch more.
Yes. While she didn't say so, some landlords are fine with you doing basic makeovers if they're done well they will add to the value of the property. She is an Interior Decorator or Designer so presumably she got permission. Here in Australia you aren't allowed to screw things onto the walls in a rental but that's not the case everywhere in the world.
If I were this lovely, talented and inspiring lady's landlord, I would be over the moon! I did similar (outside) when I rented properties - the only problem was they always sold them on me because they looked so great...hmmm
@@PrincessGold1 😮 How do you hang things on the wall? We just moved into a *really nice* apartment near the ocean and they do not allow nail holes in the walls either. I am experimenting with the stick-on pegs.
I know this video is an older one, but I recently discovered this channel and I'm binge-watching. Never in a million years would it have occurred to me to paint the metal---and the grout!--on that window...and it looks gorgeous! Brilliant!
To keep shower curtains less gross, buy machine washable ones, and a few of them, so you can regularly put them through the wash and hang a fresh set. Just like bedsheets, change them regularly. Fiddly with the hooks, but feels so much nicer.
Late to the game, but I’m finally binge watching your vlogs from the beginning. Love your content and this bathroom transformation. Absolutely brilliant, how it all came together. If I might add, for whomever may still read comments, take your shower curtain to the ceiling. I use curtains on the outside and extra long soft shower curtain on the inside. Believe me, it’s a game changer. ❤❤❤
Only a year late, but this has to be one of the best original make overs I've ever seen in a rental! Also the fact that you did NOT use a bathroom rug means you're a genius and quite possibly my soul sister.
THANK YOUUUUU! I absolutely HATE bathroom rugs. SO ugly and unhygienic! I'll use a bath mat when I get out of the shower, but then it gets hung back up right away and washed every week.
I wish you were my renter!!! Holy moley! I never understood why renters don’t take pride in their home. I repainted the entire interior of my first rented home at 18. If I own it or not, I still have to look at it!!! Good for you. I subscribed! Love your style, love that you are budget friendly, I got a few new ideas, and laughed…perfect!

My mind was blown when you used painters tape to hang your objects! I have something in need to hang in my bathroom and was waiting on the humans that live in my house. I don’t have to wait any longer. Brilliant!
I never thought to do a double shower curtain but it looks to much fuller (if that makes sense) normally they just hang or droop. Good job! I love the different medals and the dark walls against the white tiles make it pop.
I love that! I was totally unsure about the mixed metals, I thought it wouldn’t feel cohesive. But now that it worked out that way, I actually think it would have felt too matchy-matchy with only gold hardware everywhere.
I like how American bathrooms often have painted walls and are not completely covered in tiles , makes it so much more homey . Love how it looks and your sense of humor😁👌

I love shower curtains! You will never change my mind. I find that the maintenance is so easier. Nothing worse than getting out of a relaxing shower and feeling like you need to clean the glass right away with one of those squeegee tools right away to keep the glass pristine.

Caroline! Tip for hanging things that have two hooks, or loops. Use wire. Fasten a wire between the two, make sure it’s taught. This saves you the frustration of having to ensure both points are level and you only need one nail/anchor.
The wire actually pulls the loops out of most picture frames and eventually runs the hangers, so it isn't generally recommended, plus hanging on two points means that the frame can't be bumped to become unlevel once it is on the wall.
@Carolynne, off to the bathroom immediately, and that dummy sconce is a brilliant left brain solution for that 'dead' area. Literal lightbulb moment! ;)
