I'm going to keep watching and liking all of your videos because I love the craft, but I have a serious question. Why are 90% of Iron Ranger re-sole videos using half soles instead of full soles? The original soles on the rangers are a full rubber sole and rubber heel. I think half soles are the worst aesthetic option for any boot, and in the case of these, had there not been a half sole used, then probably wouldn't have needed the small leather heel riser stack.
"I think half soles are the worst aesthetic option for any boot.." “The Heart wants what it wants - or else it does not care” ― Emily Dickinson I think many people go for the half-sole look because millions and millions of Red Wings have full soles. Full soles can be boring. Also, often individuals wear out one portion of the sole sooner than another, so a half sole can be very practical. To each his own. In regards to, "...had there not been a half sole used, then probably wouldn't have needed the small leather heel riser stack." I doubt the 5mm lift had anything to do with the half-sole. It is way more likely that the customer simply wanted a more beefy looking work heel.
Love the wear look!
An iron ranger is a blank template for a good boor. At over $300, they can have a leather midsole.
Agreed!

@@EdAb Not to mention that the cats paw/Dr. Soles are a great look as well.
@@cjanquart I totally agree. I hope to get a Dr. Soles rebuild on my Iron Rangers when the need arises.
