The mentality that men should not go out of their way to please their women stems from a scarcity mindset. When these traits or experiences are not being replicated in people's relationships, they tend to look at them with an abnormalities lens "this guy must be jazzed to be acting this way". For so long, we have excused the subpar standards from men using the excuse "Nigerian men are like that" and it needs to stop.
