- follow along a day in the life of a professional gardener. it's mid spring and I'll show you around a beautiful cottage garden. trimming back shrubs, weeding boarders, edging lawns and pruning plants. talking about how, when and what to do at this time of year.
Great video mate!! I'm the same- I use all cordless tools where possible- such a difference! The Ilex you shaped, I actually belive that's Eleagnus, but could be wrong!
Keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍
Thanks for watching and commenting. I think your right about the Eleagnus, I did get it wrong. Am pleased it's been picked up on, I love the educational side and being corrected 😊
Your clients have done an amazing job creating such a beautiful garden. Look forward to your future videos and seeing the garden through the seasons.
Nice one chap 👍
Thanks pal. So much in the garden am also looking forward to watching it grow over the seasons
Massive garden and a life’s work. A day a week will be tough going. Looking forward to see more
Thanks for watching and your kind words pal 👍👍
Great garden mate. Definitely you. Through the summer I spot winter work too. We have to think ahead to keep us busy all year.
Thanks pal. I think it's definitely worth me giving up a day a week for.
It is a nice large garden ! You're going to smash it Chris. Happy gardening !!
Thanks for your kind words and watching 👍
Hi Chris another amazing garden to work in. Lots to keep you busy. A couple of days a week would probably be more suitable ? Look forward to seeing how you get along 👌👍
Hi pal. Thanks for watching. I definitely think two days would be good but unfortunately I can't fit that time. Thankfully the client does two days themselves otherwise I think it would be a nightmare
Stunning gardens, would love to work at a property like that
It's a true pleasure to work there. looking forward to this week's visit 😅
Looks a great site mate. Look forward to watching your journey in there.
Thanks pal, mowing this week
Nice job that one, lovely garden and a joy to be in I could imagine.
Not a fan of seeing the hedge cutter out in nesting season but that's just me.
Hi Steve. Your totally right about hedge trimming in nesting season but unfortunately at times cutting needs to be done. These were only light trims thankfully. Hope you're keeping busy 👍
Typically how long do you spend on each big garden a day hour wise? As I have been self employed for 6 month out my own.
I love being a gardener.
Fantastic office, plenty to keep you busy, time management is very important in such a large garden and trimming early, often a necessary to keep on top of things, as you say, your client is very lucky to have such a passionate gardener 👍👍
Thanks Jason. It's definitely a garden which can easily run away from you if left. Am looking forward to watching it develop over the coming year 👍
busy borders, I have to admit, I struggle with them, I thinks its an ocd thing
🤣
Cottage gardens are definitely my thing.more plants the better 🤣
See, you are a gardener rather than just a random who cuts grass and weeds. I feel it's just so much work to learn and actually retain knowledge about plants and trees etc. Tips on this?
Thanks for watching.
Am not sure I can give any tips on the knowledge side. I believe a lot of it is because of passion for what I do. In my early days I did a lot of flower bed design jobs, that helped.
When I walk around a garden I try remembering the names as I go. What I don't know I try and look up. I still get stuff wrong, which I don't mind as that's all part of the learning process. Lots comes with time, this is my 11th year self employed. Thanks for your kind words and watching 👍
Look forward too seeing more of your work in this new Garden Chris 👍
Thanks Paul. Hope you're keeping well and busy 👍
Mate that’s one lovely Garden to be working in and I can’t wait to see how you go about improving the borders etc. 👌🏻
Thanks very much pal. Am truly elated to be working in it 👍👍
Lovely garden. Wasn’t your ‘ilex’ an
Ealeagnus?
You know, it could be. I didn't consider that, I didn't see any spines on branches. Thanks for watching and your insights. Always very much appreciated 👍👍
@@TheCountryCottageGardener I’m pretty sure it was, even rewound to have another look! Trunks on them are quite distinctive too. Either way they are good shrubs. Cheers
@@jackw9920 am always happy to be corrected about things. Everyday is a school day ☺️
