It is the kind of congress you do not have and will never have.
Take a look at the bill that just got voted down. Take a real, very real look at Mylan and companies like it. Take a close look at your FDA on it's own website. And take a look at Mylan. They are just typical crooks that got a bit too greedy and all other crooks and politicians are mad because Mylan attracted attention to them all.

what really saddens me is that kids rely on these the most and these greedy bastards think it's unprecedented to lower the cost by 50% right after they jacked the price way up...SMFH I can't imagine how parents can afford to buy these pens and still be able to afford their monthly expenses. That's gotta hurt financially since not every one makes millions of dollars per year like heather bresch.

That company has worked to keep out all low cost alternatives to their product, while massively increasing the price since there are people who could potentially die without it, thus they will be more willing to pay the inflated prices.
I probably won't agree with him on many issues, but Jason Chaffetz has been a rock star this summer.

"We artificially inflated the price to 600% of its original value, but then we reduced it by 50% so we're helping people! Nevermind that it's still 300% of its original value!"
Not to mention, it is only worth $2, so they could price it at around $100 and make $50 per pack still. They would sell like candy maybe and like Tylenol even.

An epipen is the functional equivalent of less than a penny's worth of the drug (epinephrine) and a disposable 1 milliliter syringe, $US 0.10-0.25. The manufacturing cost of an Epipen injector can't be more than $10 and is probably a lot less. Throw in a few bucks for R&D--which is long since paid off and they're still looking at a gross profit margin in excess of 90%.

She failed to mention that the schools rejected the extremely short shelf life of the medicine, due to state laws it cannot be accepted. You don't see her dragging reasons why the EpiPens weren't accepted. Her mother has nothing to do with this yet if it wasn't for the inflated prices and trying to use donating (mostly for tax write offs) as a cheap shot, she lacks integrity. She knew she made poor choices and tried to recover by donating. Her mother would be embarrassed of her daughters lack of accountability and constantly blaming others. It will be nearly impossible for her to regain trust from many people. She probably cannot sleep and now has to use the money to higher security personal when it could be a better investment.
Our elected politicians blocked the people from getting cheap medicines because of "safety issues". But just look where lots of this stuff is coming from. The FDA is in this up to their eyebrows. And so is every one of these politicians. Visit the FDA website. And read this about all Mylan's purchases.

Why are they picking on Mylan? All of the big pharma companies pull the same antics! And btw... generics may be chemically equivalent to the brand name, but the fillers are different and they may not be as effective for all patients. In other words, you get what you pay for. If generics were as effective as the brand names, there wouldn't be any brand name meds to begin with!

my concern is that the Doctors are being by passed, the epi pen while a life saving tool is only the first step in that treatment. Having dealt with School Nurses it's important to understand that the correct meds are not always given to the correct child. I find it disconcerting that, a nurse OR trained admin could give this med how much training have.
