Very well put together video. Glad to see a more structured and informative video, over the normal dumbed down versions and scares of using calurpa. Keep them coming 👍👍👍
Hi i am in NZ and we have Caulerpa brachypus and Caulerpa parvifolia in our coastal waters/seabed around parts of Great Barrier Island. Currently along one side of the island. We would love to know ways and means of eadicating this invasive species if you have any knowledge or advice. Thank you
Hi this plant is band in most of the USA as it can cause havoc if it gets into the local waters. So it may not be that easy to get rid of I have fount it to be prolific in its growth and can regenerate from the tiniest piece. Urchins can make short work if it so if you have them in the local waters they may find they way to it or you could collect them up and put them among it and they may get to work and control it for you.
Not sure if any of my videos show this in detail but yes they are connected there is a small pump in the sump that feeds the refugium and then a drain in the back that allows water to get back to the sump. I would gladly do a video about it but unfortunately I have moved house and a friend is taking care of my tank and I don’t have access to it to make videos at the moment but hopefully in the next few months I will have it back and can continue making raising reef videos.
Hi, I like your videos keep them coming. Two questions for you, what happened to your new tank and how do you transfer water from your main tank to your refugium please?
Hi I’m glad you enjoy my content thanks for watching. My new tank is in my conservatory behind the white curtain in the frame it’s on hold for a little while as I may be moving house soon and didn’t want to have to move it half way through a cycle or full of water and livestock But I will be doing a video about a couple of new items that have turned up for the build in the interim. There is a small pump in my sump that feeds the refugium which has its own circulation pump in the back and I have drilled the back panel so it drains out back to the sump through a flexible pipe.
Yes but you will have to keep it under control as it grows quickly and could become quite invasive if not kept in check if you have any tangs or other herbivores in your tank they may eat it all. I have some in my refugium now I also like the way it looks
The first sign is whit lumps appear on the leaves and if that happens just pull out affected plants if you don’t spot this then next it will eject all its cells so it goes pale and looks like it’s dying. But as mentioned in the video if you separate it up into many individual plants it doesn’t seem to happen to all at the same time so even if you miss the event it shouldn’t be enough to harm the tank but trimming regularly and lighting 24hrs will also help stop this happening

Are there both aquarium connected?
If yes, will be glad if you have the video how to connecting them

I pop-locked and did the robot to the music in the opening credits.
Glad you enjoyed it
I wanted a little piece of fern caulerpa for my tank to give it a more realistic feel. Will fern caulerpa be ok in a mixed reef tank ?
Yes but you will have to keep it under control as it grows quickly and could become quite invasive if not kept in check if you have any tangs or other herbivores in your tank they may eat it all. I have some in my refugium now I also like the way it looks
How can you tell when it goes sexual
