How long did it take for deep scan? I am doing deep scan for a 3tb hdd. Currently, showing 44 hours left. Initially it showed 26 hour then increased to 44 hours currently. Kindly help with the information.
I'm glad this is able to recover actual folders. I used Disk drill and ended up with a single folder with over 60,000 files in it. I need a software that recovers the actual folder structure so I'm not spending a year sorting through 60,000+ files. I'm going to give this a try right now and I'll update how it goes. FYI this is going to be run on a 4TB SSD that got formatted and a new partition written over it, and it's currently showing as not being accessible in windows.
@@NicoKnowsTech unfortunately it didn't find any recoverable files. I'm not sure why even with deep scan it didn't find anything. I'm currently running Wondershare Recoverit and that seems to be working, but it still has probably an hour to go, but so far so good. It's showing folder structure and all the files so hopefully in a few hrs i'll have all my data back.
@@NicoKnowsTech Recoverit worked for me. I'm currently copying over the recovered folders to my drive. I'm not sure how many files are corrupt though, but it looks like most are okay. Now i get the fun job of actually checking all the files to see which are good and which are corrupt. but I'm going to save that for tomorrow.

Deleted files occupy empty space PHYSICALLY but actually are considered by Windows as free space… meaning adding more files will eventually overwrite them. To totally wipe a drive you need to use a secure erase that writes some kind of data over the entire drive. I have a video on drive wiping which is for professionals, but there are also free tools such as Darik’s Boot and Nuke but I would suggest watching the video I made so you understand what it all means
The WD Passport external HDD isn't even recognized by the computer. This software didn't work at all. Hung up with a black rectangle in the middle of the screen. Terrible experience.

I wonder what could go wrong there. Every time i also switched the power off for additional safety, but i am not sure whether i forgot to do this once. Could that be the reason? Hard to believe. 3. In the end, the following weird thing happened: It was impossible to access the SECOND partition in BOTH of these HDDs! What a coincidence! The first partition was working fine after unlocking it, in both HDDs. But when i try to unlock the second partition, in both HDDs, it becomes grey, i.e. it seems to be unlocked, but the blue capacity line is not shown and i can’t access it. I tried the application “Active Partition Recovery” from LSOFT Technologies and the result was this: I used the “Superscan with Partition Recovery” with the following result: 2 bad and overlapped partitions were found and each of them had the size of the total Disk (!). After my SDD had formatted itself, I was so desperate I bought the recovery software for 109 Euro Euros. Ran the program, even the deep scan, and out of 41.000 files it recovered around 60 files that I didn´t need and that it also did very poorly. I then invested in a second software (disk drill) which recovered the whole amount, even though not organized in folders and i had to resort 40k files... But- don´t buy this it´s a waste of time and money.
