I can't stop coming back to this review. The way fantano breaks down how Rap online has been slowly being abstracted to its most basic lyrical essentials, while the sound has been going the opposite direction, being abstracted until its all buzzing distorted highs and lows, is so brilliant. It's definitely something I've noticed throughout the last decade, but the way he goes about describing Rap's evolution culturally and musically is so god damn well done.
yeah I'm in shock too. I'm not as in love with Red Light as some other Bladee fans are but it's at least a strong 5 to a light 6 for me and it does have some admirable qualities despite not being as cohesive or substantive as Eversince or even Bladee's more recent output. Plus at least the production on Red Light sounded more competently assembled and it actually sounded like Bladee was putting some effort into the songwriting and performances. Nett sounds like he's not putting any effort in whatsoever and just fucking around in Bandlab. Which, if you're a high school kid with too much time on your hands and that's what you wanna do as a hobby sure have your fun but I'm just not sure how I'm supposed to find this compelling without a serious overhaul in terms of production and songwriting. I do see potential in the aesthetic though and there might be room for growth who knows.
you've lost the pulse if you think the totality of what the kids are into and making these days is nettspend. the world of young people making music is wide and versatile and can't be reduced down to one single trend or scene. get a grip.
exactly how I felt when Carti first started blowing up. Some of his stuff has grown on me since then but I still don't think he's consistent enough to really justify the hype.
Out of all of the underground he could have reviewed (David shawty, Xavier, phreshboiswag, Cartier god, etc etc) he picks the most unoriginal ones and then shits on them. There’s plenty of incredibly talented underground artists he could shine on but instead it’s semetary, nett, and opium memebers
I could bop to like 2 of the songs so the rating you gave is pretty justice if you ask me. Him not putting 'nothing like uuu' on there was just a poor decision by his MGMT/Label to not do what everyone else does and release your biggest single before, but remember to put it on your album by the time roll out comes! he didnt give a 10 because the album cover isn't green and arial font
A higher score than Red Light? 😭
yeah I'm in shock too. I do see potential in the aesthetic though and there might be room for growth who knows.
anthony you lost the pulse! expect the kids to be cooler, they always are
you've lost the pulse if you think the totality of what the kids are into and making these days is nettspend. the world of young people making music is wide and versatile and can't be reduced down to one single trend or scene. get a grip.

Anthony Fantano has listened to more music than all of you guys combined, I'm going to take his rating.

Honestly I'm gen Z and I don't have the slightest clue how someone can enjoy this

exactly how I felt when Carti first started blowing up. Some of his stuff has grown on me since then but I still don't think he's consistent enough to really justify the hype.
Trying to review an album made for people with hearing impairment is very out of touch, stay in your lane old man.
you dont know what being 19 in 2024 feels like
I hope I never have to know what that's like
you should not be listening to this at 19

The shortbus commuters aren’t gonna like this, Anthony.
I mean he gave the new kendrick a good rating I'm sure they're fine
Out of all of the underground he could have reviewed (David shawty, Xavier, phreshboiswag, Cartier god, etc etc) he picks the most unoriginal ones and then shits on them. There’s plenty of incredibly talented underground artists he could shine on but instead it’s semetary, nett, and opium memebers

were here to make money and pull views. He and nobody else on music youtube gives a fuck about shining a light on underappreciated talent lmao.
A fantano nettspend album review is something I never thought I would see on my feed

Way better than this bullshit
No matter what nettspend would have drop he would’ve gave it a 1, he doesn’t like turnt sh%#
Explain what “turn shii” is
The production deserves way more respect. It's going to be funny seeing the mainstream bite this new sound.
They are mainstream
1. They’re mainstream
2. There’s nothing new to this sound other than it sounding worse than other artists in his same lane
i do't think it will go mainstream: too harsh...it will do the same thing of trap metal in 2017, huge in the underground but not in the mainstream
remind me when the "mainstream" is biting the this sound
Semetaryy has been doing this sound for years way better, Bladee and even peep to some extent too.
fantano officially doesn't kno jack abt music
Just because he gives a low score to your favorite artist doesn't mean he doesn't understand music.

Can’t believe Fantano disrespected ok like that 🤣 Ok literally the best underground producer by far
Production of the album was amazing, Ok is one of the best producers in the underground and ur take on his production is wrong.
Damn missed out on so many potential listeners who may look that song up & give the album a try!
