- In this video, I want to show you about TOEFL Grammar Study~ Passive Voice | Learn Passive Voice…that you used to study previously with your teacher or by yourself.
A sentence can be either in the active or passive voice.
Active voice?_ the subject performs the action.
Passive voice?_ the subject receive the action.
Simple Present or Simple Past
Am, is, are, was, were, + V3
-Hurricanes destroy a great deal of property each year.(Active)
-A great deal of property is destroyed by hurricanes each year.(Passive)
-I played computer.(active)
-Computer was played by me.
Present Progressive or Past Progressive
Am,is,are/ was,were + being + v3
-The committee is considering several new proposals.(active)
-Several new proposals are being considered by the committee.
-Rathy was creating amazing videos.(active)
-Amazing videos were being created by Rathy.(passive)
Present Perfect or Past Perfect
Has,have/ had + been + V3
-The company has ordered some new equipment.(active)
-Some new equipment has been ordered by the company.
-I had bought two Iphones before I met her.(active)
-Two Iphones had been bought by me before I met her.(passive)
Modals
Modal + be + V3
-The manager should sign these contracts today.(active)
-These contracts should be signed by the manger today.(passive)
Modals + Perfect
Modal + have+ been+ V3
-They should have called the president this morning.
-The president should have been called by them.
