You think you know about the Pilgrims, but you have no idea. Here's the real story of these Separatists, from their struggles in England, Holland, and the New World.

Let me know if you 're a pilgrim sent over by Mr. Terry. Give him a shout-out here!
Yup
Yep
Yes sir
here!
Yep
My fave thing about Plymouth rock is that sometimes people genuinely don't know it's literally a rock
Which Plymouth, the original or the namesake? The original has a ruddy great big cliff!
@@Cdr_Mansfield_Cumming i mean the one in Plymouth MA thats surrounded by a tower
I found that out from the jontron video.
@@michelleanderson245 Which isn't even the original "rock," since the one in the tower was moved there by quarry workers (including my great grandfather) back in the 1890s.
And an underwhelming rock as well
The Separatists, uh...pilgrims, didn't leave the Netherlands voluntarily. They were kicked out. The Netherlands was famous for their tolerance, the separatists, however, _weren't._ The lack of tolerance on the part of the pilgrims got them threatened with a "leave, or rot in prison," option. The only reason why they were able to fit into one ship is because so many of them took the prison option, where they died.
Let's get POLITICAL:
It's like Cali's ex-pats demanding native texans to vote Blue and demand the same reforms that sunken their own state.
@@MalekitGJ I kinda love how nobody actually got political lol

Greatest threat to early settlers: "Do you want me to settle us at Roanoke, Because if you don't shut up I'll settle us at Roanoke!"
It would be a funny Sitcom
“NOW THATS A LOTTA DAMAGE!!!” I’ve actually been learning about this stuff in school, like the mayflower compact and now I’m learning about the revolution and the Declaration of Independence
Thankfully Phil was there with the flex tape to fix the ship otherwise the pilgrims wouldn’t have made it
I don’t know if you like it when people compare you to others but with your history and comedic sketches are such as beautiful and hilarious as Oversimplified. Great job and keep up the work!
That's fine. I love me some oversimplified so I'm happy with the comparison. As long as people are laughing and learning, I'm good.
I'm Dutch and this just made my day! "🎵🎶Alle eendjes zwemmen in het water🎶"
🦆😄
This channel is going to be one of the huge history RUclips channel.
Spread the word. That's the best way to help
@@Loksiopl just a matter of time, oversimplified be slow on his uploads
Absolutely agree!!
So am i. Whoever he is, I feel his pain. I just finished a first draft that's 12 pages. That's like 20 minutes. See you in 2022.
My new favourite
I love this. And the ties to Holland, I actually have a "separatist" from there, but they landed in New Amsterdam. Thomas Southard was born in 1615 Leiden, Leiden, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands and died D:1 Apr 1684 Long Island City, Queens, New York (which New Amsterdam became New York in 1665). Thomas's daughters stared several lines, like the Vanderbilts, the Bouviers (Jackie Kennedy's family) and my own Iowa Southards, my grandparents.
If you can. Trace yourself back to the vanderbilts You are part Of what was early american royalty. They ruled all the railroads.
17th Century Star Wars reference? Approved.
I got a bad feeling about this
I love how the natives have sort of a New English accent
Little known fact that the "New Jersey" accent is indigenous.
@@DrawnofHistory prove it.
You should honestly have more subs but Im sure once the algorithm finds you, you'll explode
Sharing it will point the algorithm in three right direction
Came over here from Mr Terry and I have to say, it’s wonderful to see a fresh channel get attention. History channels like yourself, Oversimplified, etc are great and I hope you continue to grow! Subscribed.
I've seen a 28lb Lobster, when I worked at Market Basket, a regional grocery store. To get a 20lb Maine Lobster you have to be in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire or Nova Scotia and go to the docks or a grocery store. However be warned it will be good for Lobser stew, chower, or bisk but for anything else it will be too tough.
I'm so glad that Mr. Terry brought us to this sailor's channel!
7:16 "To show you the power of Flex Seal..."
4:21 Loving it, but King James I (James VI in Scotland) was a Scottish King, grandson on King Henry VII (of England) and James I of England after Queen Elizabeth I died with no heir. He had the broadest Scottish accent and most definitely didn’t sound like he came from Essex! I laughed all the same.
I’m one of those Mr. Tearry immigrants lol. I can’t wait for this channel to REALLY blow up! These animations are great, like a unique spin of Oversimplified! Also, I think it’d be pretty cool if you covered Hernán Cortéz or Lewis and Clark, if you’re taking suggestions lol.
As a direct descendant of Governor William Bradford who was raised in New England and had the glorified version of Plymouth Colony’s history shoved down my throat…this is the version I approve of.
My last name is on the Mayflower compact if my family's stories are true its where one branch got it's start on this side of the pond
10% of Americans can trace their lineage back to the Mayflower. I’m one of them too. 😊 When Tennessee opened, my ancestors set up shop as farmers, preachers, and eventually doctors/surgeons, and never ever left. 😅
This is getting interesting...we will watch your career with great interest :3
(Yes it’s a star wars reference stop wondering xD)
Didn't need to tell me. I recreated the cantina scene
@@DrawnofHistory xD
I always like channels that do medieval and ancient history instead of ww2 all the time its sad cause you never see vids about the wars of the diadochi
They didn't eat lobster because they were regarded as large insects and turkey was mostly a side dish. The most eatien meat was venison which they never had before because in England you would hanged if you killed one of the king's deer.
Way to go getting a real sponsor! I kept expecting it to be a fake like the other videos! 😂😂 great content thank you!
Subbed because I saw it on Mr. Terry's channel. AND I LOVE THE STYLE
If I won the lottery the 1st thing I would do is fund the making of as many of these episodes as possible. Could you imagine getting one of these episodes a week?! A man can dream...
I know you were trying to do han solo...but it sounded like 80s Charlie sheen😂
Once again I would like to suggest you make something on the 7 years war but also Henry VII as very few people know about him (Shakespeare wrote 4 5 6 8 but 7 not a word)
Gotta spread the word about this channel. Trust yours will be one of my suggestions any time I'm asked. Your stuff is amazing to watch and interesting, entertaining and full of information. Great animation and scripting. Hope you get the respect from the RUclips algorithm gods that you deserve... Thank you so much for your work.
The pilgrims and native Americans did not have a peaceful dinner
Yes they did. That's just not the whole story.
This channel is like watching new “South Park” series only about world history 😁
Great job 👍
Loved your newest vid about king Henry so now I’m bingeing and supporting all your content!✌️
Ive played enough Sea of Thieves to suspect someone was using firebombs in the bottom deck making holes for a slow sink.
Great video! Saw the review from Mr Terry History and had to come and subscribe. It was very informative and funny as hell! Look forward to more vids!
12:20 just on your channel, and the first video I watched involves growing corn, I also grow corn 🙂.
Love the addition of the clip from the movie Say Anything
jesus christ, its clear you enjoy making these, keep it up.
I am. I swear. You will get one next month.
But we're not trying to grow fish 🤣🤣🤣 that whole scene was priceless
I am actually related to the pilgrims so lucky me
Each pilgrim woman had like a dozen children so if you're English ancestry in America you often are related to the pilgrims 😅
I googled Scrooby... Why is it still a tiny village?
Not everywhere has to grow into a big town or thriving city... the numerous plagues, wars and economic migration from rural to urban cities probably didn't help much either come to think of it 😂
Important distinction about predestination & Calvinist thought @0:30. It's not that you didn't need to be good to go to Heaven; it's more that if you were Saved, then you'd only want to do good. This is foundational to what Max Weber called the "Protestant work-ethic" & really underlies almost every base assumption in the liberal/Western/capitalist world of modernity! Even down to the individual (rather than family/tribe/sect/etc) being the primary level of analysis.
Nice segue to ad at 5:50.
Honestly some of the best content on RUclips. Better than any other history channel. The topics, the animation, the stories it's all amazing! This channel is going to blow up big time, I'm really glad I found it!
Thnx for showing me this channel Mr. Terry!
Interesting History Here! =D
Letty me know how you like it at the end.
As someone born and raised on Cape Cod (Plymouth isn’t actually on the Cape) that lobster on the table is far more likely historically than a turkey (although I’m pretty sure they didn’t serve lobster that day). Lobster was so plentiful before we fished the hell out of it, that at certain times the beaches were so covered in massive lobsters you couldn’t walk down the beach to the water without stepping on them, they also grew to huge sizes, at least twice as large than what you see today, multiple feet long. Also they were considered trash food and were served to prisoners because they were so plentiful and looked down on.
200 armed Massachusets warriors walked into camp...and demanded a feast.
(Happy Thanksgiving!)
@ 4:11
Oh come on! James was born and raised from Scotland :P
Just a slight amendment needed. The Mayflower left Plymouth harbour on September 16th 1620, not September 6th.
Found your channel today, got to say you have great content. :^)
Ive been watching some of your videos and i got excited when the promo came up and there was actually a promo

It doesn’t state why they stayed in Massachusetts. They ran out of beer. Water would go rancid in barrels on sea voyages, so they drank beer instead.

Predestination is NOT ideal if you're prone to anxiety and/or panic attacks ,because it's all about not knowing what's going to happen to you when you die!
I definitely wouldn't last!
