I had the pleasure of driving behind Chris on this as he held me up down a 60 route. He looked like he was having a right laugh on it though!
😂
Starting a petition to get this over to the TT so Boothy can do a lap
30mph average
I think on this , even I could do a TT lap "full bore" with the throttle pinned !
@@FortyFourTeeth So about a 1 hour 14 min lap ? I don't guess Mr Hickman and his mates will be worried, other than running into the back of you with a speed differential of up to 170 MPH !
What's the record for slowest lap? 😂
Would it actually be able to get over the mountain? Coming down with those brakes might be speedy though ! 🫀
These were sold as GSXR-50's in the USA. They were very rare here, and not street legal in most states anyway-I did race a guy on my YSR-50 once as a teenager and got my ass handed to me..... it was a big bore motor with a bunch of headwork. Way more than a stock YSR with a tuned pipe could handle.
I REALLY wish they (Suzuki) would import the GSXR-125 after watching you race.... It seems like a natural bike to offer here given how popular all of the Honda 125cc minis are selling.
The 2001 Aprilia RS50 I had for a short time was a HOOT to ride wide open everywhere. I find the new 2022 GROM SP to be the perfect answer to this bike. I'm hooning it and getting 110 miles per gallon out of it.
Ah I had the old 2 banger RS125 for about 3 weeks back in the day. I bought it off my cousin who was graduating to a full license for mates rated but insurance was just horrific. I had fire and theft on it initially and that cost about as much as the bike for me at 17 lol. Then someone I know with F&F completely totalled their faired bike and I sold it to ‘downgrade’ to a KMX 125 which was still a 2 stroke 125 but for some reason the insurers didn’t shit a brick as soon as I sat on it and I figured it’d be a bit tougher in a crash.
I’ve always regretted selling that aprilia though, and meant to buy another one. I just didn’t know that emissions and max hp rules would come in and make them crazy collectible.
@@Bobby-wn5yr I've got one and I love it, just always fixing something on it
I couldn’t imagine riding a grom and having fun for much longer than a week or so. Yeah it’s memes to ride a child size bike on the road, feels even more dangerous than a normal motorcycle
Eventually that lack of any real power gets really old when you need to go on roads where the limit is 50-60 mph. Great if you live in the city and you never actually leave it or go anywhere where the roads are nice and fast
@@CrazyPanda688 I think that’s why you see so many groms up for sale that were either stunt bikes or sold with about 1500 miles on them. I rode one at a demo day, and it was a lot of fun in their carpark carving lines on their course and such, but once you got out on the road it was really slow even for a 125 (9hp and tiny wheels). So yeah for a cheap stunt bike, probably a good buy, especially with the price of supermotos but for the road? Nah.
I’ve seen some people take them to races at go kart tracks, and I think that’d be the only reason I’d buy a grom myself - a cheap track toy, but even then once you’ve done some power mods and suspension mods and track prepped it, you’re probably paying about the same money as to prep any other small cc bike for a low cc championship you know?
And then yeah… if for the same money I could prep a 125, 250 or 300 class bike for cheap racing.. I don’t see me buying the grom tbh. Maybe if there was a very active grom racing league around me? That’s the only scenario I could imagine for me personally.
Chris at the end looked adorable 😂🤣
I absolutely love you guys hah
lmao chris looked absolutely ridiculous on it at the end :D what a great bike!
Hey there, I SO wanted a GAG bike in the 80s, wish I had now, look at the prices! My personal fave was the YSR50. ☺
I was a despatch rider in the 80's and use to see a guy travelling into London along Kings Rd who rode one of these like a maniac.
Happy memories. I had a Yamaha YSR80 in Yamaha Galois colours. The first owner had it tuned and I would often 'see off' a 125 at the lights. I looked a bit of a Cnut on it but it was a great laugh. Got a photo of me posing on it in my 'Nige' Mansell t-shirt 😎
Awesome wee bike guys I have one here in NZ and have owned it since 2006 I ride it to work and everywhere when the weather is good , brought it as a beater but the rebuild got out of hand as they do and it looks brand new still today , I built a twin headlight front fairing for it so it looks like a propper GSXR and still have the mold if anyone needs a fairing , im still yet to see another bike here stories float round of others but yet to see them im 5'11 and if you ride with normal clothes it is ok to ride , I rode once as a laugh in my one piece leathers and it was pretty sketchy cheers Mark from NZ
In Finland kids used to have mini racer cup with these between adults big bike race starts. In late eighties and early nineties. As a 41 year old I’m still a mad that I only got Yamaha pv50 and envied my ass off behind the racetrack fence looking those privileged kids 😅😅😅
i had one as a kid, but it had a 50cc two stroke engine. they sold it by the name off suzuki-solifer R here in finland . great machine :D
I bought a ysr50 last year for a bit of a laugh. It wasn't a runner, so I need to do a lot to it to get the old girl back on the road, but this has me inspired haha. The guy I bought it from had bored out the engine to 73cc, and said with a little tailwind she'd happily do 100km/hr...
Something so fun about the old, cheerful little bikes just screaming everywhere they go.
Very jealous!
i love the fun ones so much more. PS i ride my grom to the office twice a week and can make the 56 mile round trip and lunch both days on less than 1g of gas. Love the littler bikes, yours is too small for anything but a lark; which actually makes it cooler.
That might've been the same busdriver as in the HandMuffWarrior bus video.
No wonder why he didn't want you on the bus then haha
Way Peterborough, saw you riding around, love the content guys keep it up
100mpg from 1980s tech. That's pretty impressive. A modern one of these could probably do 150+ mpg
My 2016 yzf r125 does 130 mpg so the modern ones aren't even that much better probably just cleaner for the environment idk 🤷♂️
@@keilow885 not great when a 2tonne diesel with 150hp can get 65mpg. And a 15hp 150kg only gets 130mpg
@@chrishart8548 I know but its all I'm allowed 🤷♂️😂
@@keilow885 I'm actually thinking of going back to a 125cc for the low running cost. Not really fuel. But tax, insurance, and outlay for the bike a 125 cost almost half to buy. For new or nearly new than say a 650cc
@@chrishart8548 you need the cheap and cheerful SV650
Absolutely hilarious video. I needed this with what I've got to face tomorrow 👌🏾
Good luck 🙏🏼
A mate had one, called a Gama. They can rev to about 12 thousand. You have to give it a bit of stick mate. Mind you, probably not quite the same, that one seems to have much smaller wheels...
This looks like a cracking new series... yes lads!
You know, I wanted one of those Yamaha variants so bad back as a kid! The only shop in my area in the late 80's had one on a tall display with the pipes wrapped... 👌🏼 MINT!
I've only ever seen one in my life in Texas and the rest of the US in the military!
1986, I was in kindergarten and by 1st grade I was on a Honda trail 50!
Seems like a great candidate for the next BBB 😏
Couldn’t more than 50 miles a day 😬
HAHAHA... this is gold!! These for the next BBB series?
I absolutely love this channel
All scoots and 50's have a speed warning light here in Japan. Its coz they're supposed to be limited to 30mph 🤪 Don't need a bike license either...regular car license is ok for peds and 50's
I'm in the USA and I got one that swapped to 125cc and made it street legal with tags and title and I love it
There was an MV Agusta one built by MAGNI. The chairman of the MVOC had one for riding round his living room.
Have you considered making that lovely sound as she comes "on cam" as a digital download? That's music that is.
At Bradden tonight watching the last day of practice before the first race tomorrow only hear on the tannoy that one of my favourite 44 teeth presenters Mike Booth had had an incident at Joey's and had been taken to the local hospital. Good luck and good health Mike and I hope your back with us soon at your usual excellent self.
1:29 the car desperately turned to see the bike 😆
this thing just makes me want one of those ohvale's, but street legal, i think it would be damn good fun. and I think they can do like fuckin 70 which is terrifying 😂
there's an old boy here in Jersey, that rides his every day, he has had it for years lol funny as hell when he is plodding a long the dual carriageay overtaking cars
I'll never complain about tall bikes ever again 🤪❤👍
Just bought a Honda grom . Hilarious to ride full gas absolutely everywhere
This was just the kind of levity I needed to lift my spirits today, thanks again for helping me (and I'm sure many others,) have a chuckle and release some well needed endorphins!
That a nice little bike, would look great as an ornament in my living room 😊
I always thought the 125 was good on fuel till I realised I was often going 40mph up steep hills and getting left in the dust on duel carriageways
Bring it over here for the TT in your carry on. We can take her up the go kart track at jurby. See you Friday. 😀🤔💨😄
Good to see Luke pop up. He's a top lad. I worked with him at KTM.
Haha sitting here laughing my head off… Looking forward to the rest of the GAG fest. 🤙🏼
Those Fiat 500's and Vauxhall Adams' looked like monster trucks next to this thing 😂
Absolutely buckled takes me back to the 125cc video when Chris was on the rs125 and didn’t know it was race shift
Put a RM 80 two-stroke in it
I'm so glad to see Chris decked out in full leathers for the ride of his life! Our US government makes stupid laws like the headlight has to be a standard cars height off the of ground and VW was going to release a formula speed car, but at a go carts height that had a ridiculous power to weight ratio to solve the fuel crisis on the cheap... They couldn't pass that stupid law and scraped it! It was dirt cheap and way too fast; ideal for motorcyclists who see 125 mph on highway as slow and 140 mph a little fast on the same highway.
This would suit Warwick Davis.
Can’t wait to see it go as asthmatic as a Liverpool player through Charlie’s 1 and 2 and of course the mountain, Caldwell it is!
This is what an R6 feels like to me
Have to say Al's leathers came out the best.
I just sold mine last month and bet if I had waited I could of got a lot more after this video 🤣😂
😂
I remember those back when I was a kid. They were quite popular in Finland and you can still find them for sale. The most popular moped back then was the Suzuki PV50 (and the Honda Monkey 50). You could easily tune the shi& out of the Suzuki PV50 and get some serious speed out of them.. and hope the tiny drum brakes would stop you...
I've got a gag and put a lifan 140 in it years ago, does about 65mph and 98 mpg , great fun!
Yo hold up, hold the fuck up! An S1 Lightning!
Lovely . I ride a Honda Dax a lot and look a complete knob ,however its great fun and i dont really care !
genuinely didn't know which ... bloke was going to be it :)
Great old school Suzuki colour scheme , as opposed to the crap paint jobs they’ve had for the last 15 years.
Just the size of the numberplate in comparison is giving me lol's before i've even watched it! NSR80 please... :D
Suzuki's MotoGP team will have some wings going soon. Stick a pair on that bad boy for some elbow down action.
thats awesome!
first glance at the thumbnail I thought it's a bike out of chris's garage XDDD
There's a guy over here in Jersey that rides around on one, always wanted a go, looks mint.
The Hyabusa of the moped world🤣looks like a laugh but hats off for taking it into a dual carriageway.
For a spotty 16 year old, this is the answer to reigniting superbike dna and blood lust back into youngsters….
How fast does it go mister???
I’d love one of these, but the ability for even the weediest of chavs to just pick it up under arm and walk off with it might be a problem
I had the 2 stroke one broke the engine and put a kx250 engine in it was amazing
5:57 yeah watch out for that rail crossing, gotta slow down to about 15 in my car haha
Personal dream bike! 1986-87 U.S.., you got one with purchase of GSXR750LE
At last, a motorcycle that will fit in the top box of my Honda Grom ...
Comedy gold again from the teethers 🤣🤣
Awesome! But I think you're talking about a Yamaha YSR50, not "TSR"...
look how many groms and smaller bikes you see I'd love to dive about on a little 90s rep 4 stroke threw town 😂
Cant wait for the track review! Maybe get a junior racer to ride it?
Maybe a fun idea for a bbb, 50cc mopeds. Cant wait to see a yamaha tzr50 vs aprilia rs50 vs derbi gpr50 battle
Yes more content with that handsome little guy.
106MPG flat out everywhere, hilarious!!
Damm imagine saucing the engine. 17k rpm and 12 hp. Wooohooooooooo
9:23 "......... a toaster......." 🤣
Try and get a Yamaha YSR 50 then you and Boothy or Chris can go head to head around Caldwell.
been 18 years since I saw one of them 😂
havent watched yet but i love this
That’s hilarious! Would be fun to have street crowded with these so it would be the TT everyday, everywhere! 😁
given how you felt at 40 it's just proof that the 30mph restriction on 50cc bikes for learners is stupid for 16yr olds never mind adults it's a change in the law we desperately need.
the push for tuning scooters and people now making decent tyres will make these sorts of bike a scream.
please take it on a go-kart track!
A sponsor like that, I can get behind. Great fun
we had them in Australia also, i have one of all 3 colors that come to Australia.
You should do a parody of the blues brothers supermarket scene.
Oldsmobiles are in early this year
I hope you're taking this to Cadwell for the Suzuki Live event next Friday!
I'd say get me down to have a go on it, I'm only 5ft 5 so I'd make a perfect fit for it
Was that Trevor McDonald driving the bus?
5.2 pony's, over 100hp per litre
Yes, but can it wheelie?
🤣 looks awesome - I want one for on the fire place 👌🏻
Sneak an RM-Z450 engine in there you reckon?!
Now there's a plan...
And you thought a Grom was bad.. that thing is just a pocket bike... yet it almost makes as much power as a 125 Grom/Z125 which make 9hp. You guys need to get three Groms, modify them and ride around London being total pricks... It'd make for a hilarious video. BTW Fagan, plenty of people still make them, you can buy them online for $500. They just aren't street legal/don't have mirrors and lights etc. The SACS thing is also a dig at Moto Guzzi's CARC system that gets rid of shaft jacking.
... or maybe its just a parody of Suzuki Advanced Cooling System? 🤔
@@NotNowCato1254 maybe, didn't know that was a thing.. I don't know much about old Japanese bikes, I was raised around Triumphs.
Do they not have Honda Groms in Europe?
There's a back alley second hand bike shop near where I live that had 2 or 3 gag bikes, can't remember what they were now or if they even still have them. Cool as fuck
Stick a horn and numberplate on an ohvale and boom! World beater
Great video! Take it to Teeside park you rode the GSXR 125 at?
Drop a bigger engine in it and it will be a screamer I've got the Yam version YSR 50 and I'm dropping a DT 125 engine in it OH BOY lmao
What about racing against the bam bans at Nutts Corner on it
I love this Video!Thanks guys
suzuki rb50, honda z50 and yam ysr50 road trip! that would be hella funny 😂
2:22 '...too much mechanical sympathy...' Too many kgs more like!
I love these things, does anyone remember the moped gp? the suzuki that did 90 after the works team g9t hold of it
GO STEADY WITH THAT POWER🤭
Myself and my Cousin used to sit on a small sportsbike back in the mid/late 90s at a small bike shop when we was in our early teens, i've always wondered what it was was we wern't tall kids. Potentially one of these but highly unlikely.
