Yeah they all sang a musical number on stage afterward.
I can’t remember which season it was so it was either before or obviously after this, but there’s one episode where Q’s fireman buddies come back again. It’s the episode where the jokers try to make each other laugh while one joker is interviewing a stranger and the other jokers are in the background with their mirror that shuts off and turns on behind the stranger so a joker can’t laugh at what the other jokers are doing in the back.
This has to be one of the most time consuming punishments. Not that it's super complicated, but someone actually had to write that short musical, build the props, find actors, etc. Plus, scheduling all those firefighters to get in the same room at the same time couldn't have been easy.

Any competent writer would have written that in under and hour. It's all very formulaic broadway songwriting with pretty clumsy lyrics. I imagine the biggest part was just coordinating the hiring because I'm sure the dancers could the learn the simple coreo within an hours practice.

This is one of my favorite punishments, because while it's certainly embarrassing, it also somewhat honors Q's time as a firefighter and shows a lot of love.

He tried to go back. TruTV said the show wouldn't work without him. Guess he didn't want his friends out of a job. He's a class act.
I think it depends on the station, but they need to know they can rely on you. Where I work they did a deal with a fireman. He only worked 3 shifts a week the rest was the fire department. So it would probably just conflict a fulltime show risk/reward type deal. I don't blame him at all.

I was watching the inside jokes edition of this episode and one of the pop ups said one of the guys was a Broadway star. Forgot what show. And I wondered if the rest were anyone from Broadway or just extras. There's no information anywhere though about who they are

"Q the (former) Fireman"
Plot:A fireman named Brian Quinn "Q" quits his job of being a heroic fireman and turns to tv with his three best friends in a juvenile and outrageous program where they compete to embarrass each other.
He thinks he became such a big shot now that he returns to his hometown where he brags about it to everyone, but when the Beef Gristle Mill gets caught on fire and the only (former) fireman around is Q, he can't do anything about it and is shamed by the people and the little girl who he saved and looked up to him.
Q laments to himself about it when suddenly, his guardian angel, Alex Brightman, shows up and help him understand everything and we find out Q only quit to be with his life long friends to have fun and all is forgiven.
