To freshen pillows, wool rugs or other things u can’t wash, sprinkle some baking soda mixed with essential oils, wrap it tightly in a pillow case, and leave it over night and then vacuum. Oils that take out smell are lemon , tea tree , lavender, orange ,rosemary and lemongrass. I also use this method to freshen up my mattress
I just recommend washing pillows, blankets, and plushies to prevent bed bugs. I don't know if they are a big issue in Huston, but in the South East where I live, they are a massive concern when thrifting or when staying at motels. You just have to make sure you use the bulky setting on the washer, and if there's little sequins or embroidery or stuff like that, put them inside a cotton bag to protect them from snagging.
I'm terrified of that and don't stay at hotels since reading about outbreaks of them even at expensive places and new mattress warehouses. 😣 Apparently heating items in the dryer is sufficient at killing them but I would want to wash also. It's probably good practice to throw any cloth and plush items you pick up at thrift shops in the dryer and heating them as a precaution.

A friend who had them Years ago came over, we sprayed and vacuumed non stop for about 2 hours.
Bought a new mattress, left the heavy plastic wrap on it and after the vacuuming & spraying we put a zippered plastic case on the springs.
Thank Goodness,it seems we nipped it in the bud! No more sightings in 6 months!!!

Our Goodwills have raised the prices and stopped color of the week sales, which is stupid. I was in one of my favorite GWs on a Saturday afternoon and it was dead. In the past, this store was rarely empty and they had good turn over on inventory. Now they are having to pull inventory to send to other stores because the racks are so full.
I agree, they have. So have other thrift shops in my area. I don't know if it was because they are trying to make back money off of COVID (due to having to pay rent on facilities they had to keep closed) or if they have caught on to the reseller craze. I do know that one thrift shop has dramatically raised prices on their old glassware, raising them to just below what they find them on eBay. I've even wrote to complain about it to their website on RUclips. It didn't help. But I think they are going to find that by raising their prices, people will stop buying. I know I won't buy them. So, they are actually kicking their own selves in the foot.

Goodwill knows what going on and so as i seen other sellers go to GW any see prices spike cause know or been told buyers are some resellers so place now try charge more to get some of bank the sellers do any. so the places have gone ebay on some or all stuff now. even others i seen wont buy stuff unless can sell by chance any if not want for themself any.

Hi there, I'm a newbie, learning as much as I can. I am really digging your channel!!! I've been watching every chance I can for days. I am retired with a decent pension but want to make extra dough. I love thrifting, free stuff, yard sales, dumpster diving, I also help friends clean and organize their homes and take all the stuff they dont want any more. I've never sold anything in the past other than occasional yard sales I just always found good homes for things but I know I can do this! It's not much different than working retail. Bonus my boyfriend loves this stuff too. He loves to follow different pawn guys. We are a match made in Heaven, Lol. This is going to be so fun for us to do together. That exact moose was on ebay for $24.33. Thank you for your wealth of knowledge. I have subscribed. Today I stopped by a Goodwill just to see how well I retained information. I did great! Plus I kept notes on my phone for what to look for. I am just so excited to get started! I plan to sell on one venue first just haven't decided which one and also sell locally. I also plan to sell my crafts. I am am avid crafter and constantly told I should sell my crafts. I also plan to sell plants because gardening is my passion and I have an over active green thumb. I am loaded with ideas. Come New Year I'll be starting!!!

That Not A Dry Eye In The House mug is from the old Riviera hotel in Las Vegas... It should bring $15-20 to the right seller (old casino memorabilia especially)... I actually have 50 in my storage locker that I got as freebies just before they demolished it...

The gold 'book ends' are actually architectural details called corbels they usually go up around the roof line of a victorian house. so basically reproduction or reclaimed 'gingerbread'
The yellow tabby cat with fish mug is a vintage Taylor and Ng made in Japan from the late 70s or early 80s. They sell for about $20. I would have picked it up if it was in good condition.

I love selling pillows. I steam them to clean the. My favorite pillows to sell are needlepoint /cross-stitch, Pottery Barn and other high end brands.
I have a local resale shop and one day a week coffee cups are 10 cents. I picked up the one you left behind with the cat at the dryer and 4 vintage tea cups made in Japan. The vintage tea cups sale for about 25 for a pair of them.
Put soft toys/ plushies/ cushions etc in a sealed plastic bag ie...one you can tie a knot in and seal. Put in freezer for 24 to 48 hours. You will kill bugs/ lice and some bacterial growths. Give that a try. Regards Tassie Joy

I just sold a Laurel Burch pillow for $50 :) also the Santa - you are right, it’s for cone incense but he is probably missing a little plate that goes underneath, kind of like an ashtray but probably decorative so it looks like he has something like snow or gifts around him.

I've never sold pillows. You could place them in the dryer with Dryell or Steam them. You should have grabbed that Dunkin donuts mug since they dropped the donuts and are now just Dunkin.

I may be mistaken, but after you put the lederhosen mug cozy back down, your camera panned over a small, red, very thick glass bowl..it looked like Murano glass. It’s sells for a LOT.
I have bought large decretive pillows for my home. I place them in large pillow case and wash. Dry the same way in different pillow case. I also have put children stuff in washer. I Enjoy your site.
At 9:00, I have the exact same Santa and I put incense in it and it does put out smoke. I only did it once though because my allergies are so bad that I can't be around incense, but it did work. Since he's holding a pipe, the smoke looks like it's coming out of his mouth from smoking his pipe. Mine only cost $1 though. Prices at thrift stores have gone up dramatically!
I saw a picture frame I wanted one time that was $6.99 at Wal-Mart, but that particular day, I didn't have $6.99, so I let it go. A couple weeks later, I saw the same exact frame at Salvation Army, but it was damaged and the paint had worn off, but I was so excited to see it and I knew I could repair it and paint over it, only the Salvation Army price was $15! No thank you!
It kills me how they will put a very high price on something when it has cracks and broken parts on it. Makes no sense. People who donate things should know that it's perfectly okay to throw things away rather than donate it. But people tend to think that "poor people are proud to get anything." But as a poor person, I would throw away broken things and one time at a food bank, I was giving some yogurt that was expired over 7 years. YOGURT. And I have severe stomach problems and while I might be "proud" to get some old yogurt, a lot of expired food has made me deathly ill. I could get on my soapbox about that. Poor people don't lose their taste buds when we get poor. And if we have medical problems, we get deathly sick very easily. So 7 year old yogurt? No! That's not cool.

I don't buy used stuffed animals or pillows etc.... All because what the "Rainbow vacuum man" showed me like 35yrs ago 😆 But, for my throw pillows and stuffed animals I put in a pillow case and safety pin it closed and wash them on gentle cycle and air dry 👍🏼

I am weird aboit pillows too. It is the bedbug factor. I did pick up some bab afghans and blankets. I just sold a set of Christmas animal figs. Christmas sells all year round!!!
Bed bugs are not just on pillows or stuffed items. one popular way to get them is setting your purse on a bus bench or subway seat. They jump off bags of people who do have them and hitch a ride on your bag. Suitcases are another dangerous item.

I just found and subscribed to your channel and its odd that this is the 1st video I watch because the video i just recorded (posting next week) i mention my struggle leaving behind cool pillows because I've never had luck selling them, but I love them🤦 I'm glad I'm not the only one. The pumpkin with the name Michael on it was from the Michael Meyers horror movies. The main character was Michael Meyers and I do believe there is a prop in one of the movies that is a pumpkin carved with a face like that but not positive.

I love to find a coffee cup score if I can get it under $3. I’m the same way in the morning, I usually drink my coffee before brushing. It doesn’t taste the same if I brush first.

behind the blk/gold unicorn mug (at about 31 min) was a "Laurel Burch" cat mug. something to look into.
She said later that she bought it and it sold right away - yay!!
Also people sleep and sweat and droll more on pillows more than plushes. Plus plushes don't get all moldy as fast as pillows, especially as at least some of them you can throw in the wash. The material in pillows usually hold moisture and get nasty real quick. Its why I always put water proof allergy covers over my pillow. Look up a video on what's inside your old pillow if you want to be grossed out lol

@@TexasGalTreasures haha, yeah its pretty gross. Especially if you are a night sweater 🤢. If for whatever reason I don't put a protective cover on my pillow, I replace them every 3 months. This is the same reason I put an allergy waterproof cover on my mattresses, keeps the mattresses from getting all yucky. I use linenspa fitted mattress protector. Also protects against any accidents and the bed sheet fits right over it

Your Goodwill shelves are so organized. It seem that way for many of the youtubers I watch. Ours have things piled onto of each other, 2 or 3 high. They're a mess.

Pillows only sell second hand here if they are designer or unusual, vintage, we have tons of people advertising and often even free ones don't get taken. Cat and dog beds is a different thing.

Used pillows creep me out too! I’m like who drooled on it. I have sold used holiday pillows of my own. Holiday pillows usually are just set out for decorations and not drooled on per say.

I am skeeved by used pillows! Even with plush, I do whatever I can to clean them up - like vacuum, spot-clean, etc.
