Lot of the PA Drivers seem to be respectful to oversize load coming thru their. That helps compare to some states you have people in a rush to get around or thru you to get a head. So patient is the name of the game dealing with drives like that and road condition. So far you doing amazing job along with the escorts.
Pennsylvania!!! I remember our pet-trucker was running a Grove RT865 crane and was on his permitted route to the power plant. He gets to the end of an off-ramp but he can't make a left as the road re-paver hadn't reconfigured the Jersey barriers to adopt the route that PADOT had laid-out anticipating that the contractor would reconfigure the junction over the weekend (turn left), so he had to make a right and look for somewhere to turn around. Surprise, surprise there's a local cop sitting at the junction and stops him for being off-route and he wants to write him a ticket. Thankfully there's a Penn State Cop coming off at the junction also and he intervenes and told the local cop to leave the driver alone and go and get the road re-paver to reconfigure the barriers to allow folks to turn left. He was then nice enough to escort the load all the way to the power plant. For some reason PA hates letting you run the turnpike or the expressway but loves to run you on the back-roads.
Yes unfortunately your story sounds all too familiar. PA is know for giving tickets just to go into a truckstop if said truckstop isn’t on your route. We know this and we make our decisions accordingly.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 Real easy driving a permit load, isn't it? The more we ran, the more times we were surprised. Does Missouri still have the "you can't have an overweight permit to transit our State"? So how on Earth do we deliver to Kansas from Ohio? They literally made us route to the South (OH/IN/KY/TN/AR/OK/KS) and come up through Kansas to K.C. Crazy!
Been to France on holiday one time, and me and my hubby took our bikes out, and I think I free-wheeled down a hill that looks the same as the one you came up. Very long. I do know I hit way over 30mph, as I had a tripometer, and that only went as far as 30mph😂😂. Anyway Doug, looking good, I'm trolling through all your videos. I get my desktop computer returned to me tomorrow with a new monitor, so things will be much better. At the moment, I've been having to use my tablet
Hey Doug watched both of the videos of the paper mill drum back to Georgia some backwoods driving through Pennsylvania lead escort was on her game see you were back at whites travel plaza glad you were able to get some fishing in safe travels Pete & Carl!!
Back when you were about 2 yrs old (the terrible two's) and you were constantly being reprimanded for sitting on phonebooks while backing your parent's cars out of the garage, Scranton was very different. It was the world's largest junk yard and from the highway, miles and miles of junked cars could be seen rusting away. I believe all of that is gone now. There was major road construction/re-routing and somehow Scranton eliminated their yard waste. Thank you for making a separate video of this detour. I never realized how beautiful the backroads were in that area, the hilly terrain, the farms, etc. However, it would be a beast of a drive in snow/icy conditions (even with a robotic "Jeep" 😎) I live in the Boston area, but frequent PA often to see relatives and visit Amish Country.

so many challenges ! you cant get bored with that job. its so nice to have someone archiving this and giving visibility to a job with very important workers that deserve so much more visibility. btw, little tip, everything here for reach is about using the right keywords. "feet long" "oversize load" "escort" " truck brand model" "trailer type" are good basic examples that are worth a few thousands views each in the good audience for you.

Hey Doug, It looks like I spoke (typed?) too quick in the other video; you didn't go through New Milford on US 11, you got off I-81 at New Milford, so you weren't a block from my house, you were three blocks away. Did you enjoy your "scenic (????)" detour through my little part of northeastern Pennsylvania? With the narrow, twisty, winding roads, steep hills, sharp curves, lanes that are barely 12 feet wide, and no shoulders! 40+ years ago I was pulling a milk tanker through a lot of those same roads and it wasn't fun then - it doesn't look like much has changed. There are better ways to get around the Scranton-Wilkes Barre area; I don't know why the people who issued your permits sent you they way they did. It almost seems like they wanted to make your life as difficult as they could. Damned bureaucrats in Harrisburg have no idea what the real world is like. Thanks for the extended video - it was fun to see the trip from your perspective. Keep on trucking, and remember - shiny side up!
Hello- Over height pays well but you sure do get run thru the wringer between point A and B. I've been many loads, that after looking at the the routing on the state permits, I started wondering whom I pissed off. Why do I get the felling that this was not her first time on that route? What do the codes mean in the description box? Drive safe. Have a good day.

Beautiful country I agree! Just maybe not the best place for oversized loads! They would be beautiful roads to drive on a motorcycle 🤣

Sounds like your lead escort does a very good job of keeping you informed of road conditions and up coming traffic.😊
She was definitely on her game that day :)
Not that good of a job front escort did not tell him about the cars coming or the 18 wheeler. Could have been better.

The description is just a list of codes I need for the music I use so it doesn’t get flagged for copyright
