Thanks to pointing me to a singer whose voice is stuck in my head since I first heard him sing "Blue Hotel".
Never knew who it was, as it came on Radio, back then, and the local public radio announcers usually were quite bad at mentioning the names of the songs and artists.
My wife and I danced to this at our wedding.

I'm torn....between the memory of hearing this for the first time while watching Wild At Heart alone in a 500 person theater on a super cold and snowy night in Missoula Mt..knowing that the film and the song had been etched into my heart and mind ...as I walked home alone with the bitter wind swirling at my feet and twisting up to my neck I felt in had been put in touch with a truth that all of the light noise and speed of the modern era was designed to distract us from but ultimately never could...-we hope for the best and even touch it at times-wether thru achievement or luck- but ultimately no one can save us from the elemental nature of our solitary condition. To be born...is ultimately to be heartbroken. Love can be accepted and yearned for and given...but ultimately it's scope and magnitude can only be revealed in its loss..
I think you have captured the texture of that impending heartbreak that creeps into the edges of our best moments..when we think we have beaten back the emptiness of midnight..the sounds of the party subsiding into the fragility of our true status as orphans.
At least that's how it was..and is for me.
ps your sounds would be hard to improve on...but the mix and dynamics and tempo...I think.there's more you could do. I'm almost glad.you didn't tho..enough tears for one night..any more would have been too much. You are in touch with the seductive sound of the song...now try it after getting in touch with the reality it describes. of course I hope you don't.

I never in a million years would have pictured you performing it, but damn you’re good! Chris is from the Bay Area (San Francisco) and I caught him in concert at the Fillmore when this came out.
